Promptly completed a complicated tire repair that no other shop would tackle. Hard to find. Worth the effort.

I took my bike in for a mid season checkup to Lake Bluff Hub and Cycle and can’t say enough good things about the work Nate Perkins did.
I contacted Nate because I wanted to know if he would install new tires and bar tape that I bought online. He said yes not only that, but he is happy to work on my canyon, where some shops frown on mail order bikes. I asked him to check on a pedal stroke clicking and he said he would like to just go through the bike like a tuneup. Given the miles I agreed.
He went above and beyond, shortened and adjusted some cabling, tightened spokes, replaced bearings … all at a fair competitive price.
I rode yesterday and the bike felt new again. So smooth and fast. Everything is quiet again too.

Was searching on Google maps for a local bike shop to fix my bike glad I found Lake Bluff Hub and Cycle. Nate was great very knowledgeable and a very polite person. I was looking for someone to help me with bleeding my Magura MT7 brakes and Nate did a great job. He fixed my brakes and added some air to my air suspension and lubed up my chain. If your looking for someone with experience with Magura Brakes Nate is your guy call and or stop in and check him out glad I did!

I’ve been waiting here for 20 minutes and no one is here. Dumbest thing ever!

I’m planning a cycling trip and walked in to ask questions on preparation for a long trip. The knowledge and patience to answer my questions was beyond generous. I felt more motivated and capable to be able to do a long trip across states from my conversation here.I also got my bike serviced and couldn’t complain. If anything, I’m sure my bike is better now thanks to Hub and Cycle. And I needed lights badly, break pads, and my handle bar fixed. Purchased Ravemen LR500s with rear red light. It works nice with trips around city or suburbs. On the trail at night pic below. And if you are cycling lots around Chicago area, it’s a great place to stop and get your bike serviced (if needed) and get food while you wait. Get the raspberry sorbet to cool down.Thank you for being a source of motivation. You’ve energized me to keep going further.

It started out as a great experience but unfortunately for both parties it didn't end well. I purchased a used bike from this location. After the purchase, I had the bike inspected by another bike shop as there was a clicking noise in the back brake (in fairness, Hub and Cycle did try to work with me on the noise when I purchased it but after multiple attempts it was still happening). I had to get both brake rotors adjusted and fix some play in the handle bars. Basically, the bike was sold to me with two warped brake rotors. In my opinion the bike shop should have known that as you could clearly see the rear rotor hitting the rear caliber and you could hear the front one rub as well. I also found out the safety snap pin was missing in the back brake, a new bushing was needed for the rear shock and lock for the front shock was missing (not huge deals but speaks to the lack of preparation for getting the bike ready to sell by the shop). I reached out the store and they were very accommodating and agreed to address the issues. So, I decided to keep the bike and take it out to a very easy local trail. My mistake as I should have just returned it. On my ride the after switching to the highest gear in the back the chain just came off. I was able to get it back on continue riding some more but again after switching to the highest gear the chain came off (this time possibly damaging the derailer). It was unsafe as a rider and when the chain came off the second time it was pretty dangerous. I returned the bike and the store told me I busted the derailer and took $250 off the return price. Basically, the bike was sold was not safe and not properly inspected or tuned up properly. It was missing parts, had warped rotors and something off that was causing the chain to come off when switching to the highest gear. It also took several days to get my refund and me having to follow-up several times. I can't recommend buying a used bike from here. It was all really a shame. The store has a cool vibe with half bike shop and half sandwich shop. The bike shop carries Kona bikes which are solid. Unfortunately, mechanical issues with the bike I bought and the result ending in a poor customer experience. If they had just charged me a restocking fee for returning the bike, I would have been fine with it. But to tell me I broke the derailer when something was off with the setup just didn't seem fair. Hope you have a better experience if you use them...there are a lot of nice things about the shop but it didn't work out for me.

Brought my bike in because the gears weren't working properly. They looked at it and were able to make the adjustment while I waited! Charged me a reasonable fee and I was on my way. Great experience!

My son stopped in shortly 30 minutes before closing and waited for 20 minutes. The store was deserted. The girl at the sandwich shop told him to ring the bell and someone would help him. I don't live in Lake Bluff, so I'm not sure not sure if the sandwich shop has any association with the bike shop (?) --either way, my 14 year old stood around with a tire off his bike for 20 minutes. I made the hour round trip drive and picked him (and his bike) up.

Barrett is an outstanding mechanic with a can-do attitude approaching any problem. He's been very supportive of riders in our community and I couldn't recommend LB Hub and Cycle enough!
