I took my pups in for their first visit on the 14th of march. I have 2 pomeranians, female 10 months and male 8 months old. The reason for the visit, my 10 month old female has bilateral luxating patellas, grade 3. She was diagnosed by a different vet. The first suggested surgery in May when she is a year old and her growth plates closed. I went to the Shore for a second opinion. My second pup was along for the ride.I was so happy with the enthusiasm and care i recieved there. They loved my pups and the pups loved them. They were on board with my choice in holistic care for them and even helped me with recipes for homemade dog food.Outcome is no surgery at this time, and see how she progresses with exercise and mild manipulation. Essentially continue doing what I've been doing. The office is clean and does not smell like wet dog. They treat exotics as well as offering alternative therapy such as acupuncture and chiropractic care. All of this is the reason i will be transferring the care of my pups to them, even though it is not close to my home.

I love that they offer holistic alternatives for my dog. Staff is beyond friendly, professional and helpful. This is one of the very few vet places my dog does not get extremely anxious and is happy to go to. The only downside is their hours don’t coincide with my schedule and I now live far from this place but definitely recommend anyone looking for a caring and professional vet to go here where your furry best friend is sure to get the best treatment!

I’ve tried out a lot of different vets. I’m also a dog trainer so I hear a lot of stories about many other vets.Animal Hospital at the Shores has been a great experience every time. I never feel pressured to do any vaccinations and if anything I’ve been advised not to do some unnecessary ones. They never sugar coat things and if there is some sort of mystery to an illness, they never jump to speculations. Their prices are very reasonable for the area. They always make my animals and me feel comfortable. The appointments are never rushed. I’ve been able to get an appointment in a very reasonable amount of time and recently they saw me the same day when my dog needed urgent care. The blend of integrative and traditional medicine is a huge plus. The only negative is that the hours are a little limited but I also see that as a positive since the vets and employees have a good work/life balance.I recommend this practice to anyone looking for a fear free and honest vet experience!

We have been going to Dr Behrens for at least 20 years, she took care of our babies before she opened animals at the shore. She and her staff are wonderful and very kind and caring. I can’t recommend them enough

Absolutely love this place. We have gone through many vets and have been searching for the perfect fit and finally found Animal Hospital at the Shores. They not only provide the best service and care for your pets, also are very compassionate and empathic towards the pets parents. I highly recommend this place. Very cleanly and smells amazing! We will be coming here for all of our five pets including our bearded dragon from here on out! Thank you again for getting us in today and for all you do.

Every pet owner should visit AHATS!! Our Mini-Australian Labradoodle, Rosie, absolutely LOVES everyone here. Rosie had visits with Dr. Behrens & Dr. Douglas and both doctors are wonderful. Not only are the doctors wonderful, the entire staff is amazing! Every person that we’ve encountered at AHATS is sweet, helpful, knowledgeable, and truly wants the very best for Rosie. We appreciate everyone here! We live 30 minutes away from the office and I would drive here even if we lived 2 hours away. Because of their amazing doctors & staff, we will never go anywhere else!!

AHATS is amazing! My fur babies have been seeing Dr. Behrens for many many years. Started with a dog I had, now my two cats who are 17 and another dog who is now 5. All my babies love Dr. Behrens. So much so that my first dog who had very bad arthritis in her later years and had a hard time walking. She would get out of the car at the vet office and walk in there like there was nothing wrong and she wasn’t in pain. One of my cats who I have to wrap up and hold tightly to cut his nails sat in the Buddha position and stuck out his paws for Dr. Behrens to cut his nails. Luckily my partner at the time was we me to witness this otherwise no one would’ve believed me. All the doctors and staff are so friendly and just make me feel more relaxed especially if I have to go in for not just a yearly visit. I wouldn’t bring my babies anywhere else. If you’re looking for a new vet or this is your first fur baby I highly recommend AHATS.

My 16 year old kitty was at end of life and did not have a regular vet. I walked in to this vet to inquire about care and they agreed to see him the next day. The staff at the desk were so kind and caring. When I came back for the procedure I was so anxious and afraid and they were just great. Dr. Auge was beyond kind and guided me through this difficult process quickly and with utmost skill. It was painless and easy for my kitty. He got a whole handful of delicious treats while she worked with him. I can’t even say how grateful I am for the help they gave me during this difficult time.

I love AHATS! The doctors are all wonderful and eager to answer my loads of questions. They explain their thoughts and reasoning so I'm never left in the dark. I initially found AHATS for integrated care when my first dog was diagnosed with cancer, it's a bit of a drive from where I live but the quality of personalized service is unmatched. I no longer need the cancer care for my three dogs, but I can't see myself going anywhere else.

Staff if friendly and helpful. Always a great visit for something the kids don't look forward to but I'm glad when they get a clean bill of health.

They are the best at caring for our dogs. Located close to home, they have a great process in place for checking in and getting you in touch with other specialties.

First and foremost, I would like to thank Dr Alyssa Auge and the receptionists/techs that were so willing to squeeze my parakeet in as early as possible! It’s hard to find many places that see birds and for you guys to take in my parakeet after being rejected by 20 places really means a lot! When I entered the building I was greeted by the receptionists who were very helpful! The staff was so excited and kind to my birds, and it made me happy to see how caring they are of their clients! They gave me a folder of nice information about my birds too!Dr Auge was very educated to talk to, and you can tell she loved talking about birds! She was very helpful, she explained and demonstrated how to medicate my bird, and has offered for me to call or come by if I ever need help! She was extremely kind to both of my babies, and she listened to all of my concerns.I’ve been to many vets for my birds (due to availability), and this is definitely a place I would love to continue to bring my babies to!Price was fair, I got 2 medicines and an exam for my bird, so the price was not unrealistic!I hope the medicine works and thank you guys again!

This is an honest and forthright review. I took my quaker parrot here for evaluation last week and he was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection. He was sent home on antibiotics, anti inflammatory medication and nasal drops. As it turns out, he did not have an upper respiratory infection at all. He was misdiagnosed. His condition worsened the following week so I took him to a 24 hour ER Vet place and there, he was placed under the care of an avian vet. They discovered an excess of abdominal fluid that was causing him respiratory distress. They did an abdominocentesis (where they took fluid off) on him that night along with X-rays. I was told he either had a liver issues or a tumor that was causing all of the excess fluid. The next day I transferred him to an exotics hospital. He crashed that morning and they attempted to do CPR on him but he didn't make it and passed away. I think the staff here is very nice and they were able to get us seen in a timely manner but I do not trust the clinical judgement of the veterinarian. It is so important to do a thorough exam and assessment on these birds so that nothing is missed, which happened to be the case with my quaker parrot. I would not recommend coming here for bird care.
