Fred was the first person who truly listened to me during a challenging time. We did my brother's funeral here in 1990 and they were amazing. We just did my mom's funeral here, and they were just absolutely amazing! My mother was transferred from out of state and their communication and response time was fantastic. Fred was genuinely personable, kind, and friendly. He shook my hand and acknowledged my brother's funeral years ago. Every interaction I observed of him interacting with people, he was very polite and personable, and didn't treat people like he was just doing business or just doing his job...like a robot. He smiled, shook hands, and one thing that is important to me is eye contact. All staff were very pleasant to deal with. The place was clean and smelled fresh. I very much recommend this place to anyone.

While this funeral home has been in Joliet forever, it does not mean that it is a good place to do business. A stressful time in my life was made worse because of Dames. Don't deal with Marlena - she raised her voice at me and was argumentative. A family member made the arrangements and I called to get an estimate before the memorial service. I was going to pay the bill, not the family member, so I needed to know what was ordered. I cancelled the flowers with Marlena. I was going to let the family member know about this later in the day. Marlena took it upon herself to call my family member without my knowledge to let her know about the flower cancellation. This caused a *huge* issue between me and my family member. I also wanted verification of contact between the funeral home and family members the year before the service and was given incorrect documents and information by Marlena.I refused to talk further with Marlena and Fred Dames called me to try to smooth things over. The damage had already been done. For me, the day of and day before the service was absolutely horrible due to Marlena and her inconsideration, underhandedness, and rudeness. This was a day that should have been a celebration of a life but was full of unnecessary tension.

Today was good. But I used them for my mom 2 years ago and the lady that took care of me needed to have my feeling taken care of. My younger sister and oldest sister with her husband came. They were not supposed to be in the room. As mom cut them out of the will. My idiot broth in law was throwing a fit. Yelling at me. I asked numerous times for her to make him leave and she wouldn't. If it wasn't for my mom's whole side of her family the Weese goes there I would have probably punched my brother in law. She was not following my requests. She even let my brother in law see the bill and how much was paid. It was an invasion of my mom's wishes let alone a private matter.

Joe from Fred C Dames helped us in 2016 with the arrangements of my father. He was so kind, compassionate, efficient and flexible. We lost my mom last week and my mom wanted Joe to help us. This experience was a little different because my mom past at my house, so the directors came to for my mom. The other directors were compassionate, precise and compassionate. I would recommend this wonderful, kind, group of people.Thanks you!Michele Schuster Difazzio

We coordinated my mother's cremation and memorial service through Dames. Kelly was wonderful, making sure that everything was exactly the way we wanted. It really helped lighten the burden during an extremely difficult time--thank you so much.

Exceptional?Cannot say enough positive things regarding them. Recently had a memorial mass and placed the urn in a columbarium at Abraham Lincoln. We did not want a standard service or Mass cards. We made special ones as a tribute (baseball card) Joe Newton was so excited and helpful it was amazing. Thank You so much

Came here 4/242022 for my wifes cousins wake, I'm Muslim and the time for my Asr prayer was near. I ask the gentleman in the office if he could provide a room for me to pray cause I'm Muslim and my prayer is coming up, he said absolutely and provided a private office for my dua(prayer). I'm grateful for that. Praise ALLAH! (GOD).

My family is very thankful to have worked with Kelly at Dames. She was warm, kind, and professional when guiding us through the process of coordinating the services for our loved one. We deviated from the typical service a bit which was a non-issue for her. Kelly handled everything...including us...effortlessly. We're all grateful for her.
