I made an on line reservation for a 26ft truck on March 4th more than a week in advance for a 26 foot truck to pick up in Homer Glen for one day. Got my email confirmation Feb 25h, stating “At Penske..We guarantee the vehicle you reserved, or equivalent or larger”...etc.Less than 24 hours before I was to pick up the truck I get a voice mail they will not supply the truck due to the high demand for the trucks. And, by the way, I filled out the on line form as an individual, not a company, so that's another reason they canceled me. We are a business, but the on line form didn't ask for a company name. Blame the customer. I wouldn't have this cancellation if I filled out their sophomoric on line form correctly? Give me a break. The woman on the phone I talked to was unhelpful and offered no solutions. I had an appointment to pick up nine skids of material, and they offered me a small 18 footer non dock height truck that would not accommodate my needs. In a nutshell, canceled my reservation less than 24 hours in advance , they have poor communication and customer service, and their guarantee wasn't honored. Calling around we got a 26 footer same day from Enterprise at a lower day rate, and much lower mileage cost, 49 cents a mile. He guys were great at Enterprise, so my company will avoid Penske at all costs.
