About Scott R. Triphahn Community Center & Ice Arena
The Scott R. Triphahn Community Center & Ice Arena is a well-maintained facility and one of the nicer rinks in the area. The building is typically in good shape and clean, with a good-sized parking lot. It features two ice rinks with well-kept ice, benefiting from recent refrigeration updates and regular maintenance, and is even used by a professional team for practice. The locker rooms are clean and offer cubbies and private showers. For spectators, there is a ton of seating, including balconies for those with physical impairments, and the typical hockey smells are subdued. Beyond hockey, the facility also includes basketball courts and an elevated walking track. The gym has an okay facility with decent cable equipment and a self-spotting bench/squat rack, but it is smaller with limited equipment and space; the track is noted as being too curved to walk on. There is also a whirlpool and pool, though chlorine levels can sometimes be high. The center hosts a decent quality hockey program and a vibrant figure skating program. A downside noted is the lack of a pro shop. Overall, it is considered a hidden gem and a good, not expensive, community center.
