READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING!
I booked a 3-day car rental through AAA's website, with a scheduled pickup at 10:30 a.m. When I arrived at the Hertz location at 11:30 the sole staff member was busy with another client but informed me that my car was still being cleaned. Upon receiving the car, I noticed damage to the driver's side door, which they assured me would be documented and nothing to worry about. Shortly after driving away, I detected a strong moldy odor inside the car. I called immediately and was told they would inspect the odor on site to return the car. When I returned, the replacement cars offered were priced above what I was originally paying, which would have been fine except the prices came out of thin air, off the top of his head while walking the parking lot. I did choose to upgrade to a Nissan SUV. When I looked inside, I was told it just needed to be cleaned since it was being used on-site. The driver's side seat was full of marijuana flower debris and it also smelled. I canceled my reservation and was charged for a full day without prior conversation or consult. The manager on site sat there while the male associate tried to help me. She knew there were problems going on the whole time and chose to ignore them. She would not give information about an area manager only promising that they would contact me.
Overall, I had a terrible experience with Hertz and AAA due to the poor condition of the cars and unhelpful staff.

First, I need to make it clear that I'm a President's Circle member at Hertz. That's the highest level you can get without paying money. I've been at this level for over 10 years. Seven years ago I gave this location a raving 5-star review. I can't stand by that review any longer. The service has been horrible, the cars have been interesting (that's being kind), and recently they've decided that they are closed on Saturdays but Hertz reservations still think they are open. That means you can schedule your return for Saturday but you have to do after-hour return. When you try to reserve on Saturday, reservations says there are no cars available.
I'm an EV person. I like to rent Teslas 3 Long Range when I'm traveling (for the superchargers). The Hertz app keeps telling me the model is guaranteed, but the people at the location tell me they never get Long Range models in. So, they always try to put me in a 3 Standard Range for the same price. Today (7/12/24) I went to pick up a Tesla 3 Standard Range that I had reserved (and the app said it was guaranteed). They didn't even have that. Instead of offering me an upgrade (which used to be standard procedure for Hertz when they couldn't provide what you reserved), the person told me I could have a Chevy Malibu because "it is the same price as the Tesla." No upgrade. No discount. And she treated me as if she was doing me a favor for giving me the Malibu. I rent (and own) EVs because I don't want to pay for gas. I cancelled the reservation and went somewhere else.
As much as I have encouraged others to rent from Hertz, there's no way that I can in good conscience recommend this location. I'm not even sure I want to rent from them again if they can't provide an EV when I need one.

I am truly disappointed in my experience with this establishment. First I feel like there was no attempt to provide a decent customer service to me. I rented a car only because my car was getting serviced at a dealership nearby. I felt as if I was racially discriminated against by the Caucasian girl Carolina at the desk. I mentioned that when I rented the car. On the second day the tire was leaking air. I tried calling the destination and the phone services would not allow me to connect. So I went to discount tire to get air. I thought it was fine after adding air so I didn’t call again. Fast forward to Weds. June 20th I was driving the car to return it and it starting leaking air again. It went flat in transit. So I called Hertz AAA and they mentioned they would charge me an extra fee. So I called my own AAA and put a replacement tire so I wouldn’t damage the car. When I get there o tried to explain and let them know it’s been leaking air and I changed the tire to prevent damage. Carolina said you are responsible and we are charging you an extra day because you didn’t make it here by 2pm. I said how if it leaked air. I asked, “if I would have crashed because of the issue with your vehicle would it be my fault?” She said it wasn’t leaking when you got it. So is he said you have to pay for the damaged tire. I asked her to provide documentation that a leaking tire is considered a customer caused damaged. SHE COULD NOT despite calling multiple stakeholders. I asked for a manager she said call customer service. She wouldn’t give me a managers number. Then she finally had JENN NEEDHAM the market sales rep (greater Chicago area) gets on the phone and basically gives no help and provides an emotionally driven response. They then calls the police on me after she told me as a customer that “ you will pay for the car and you will remove your stuff from the vehicle and leave. “ I’m lucky the officers was extremely level headed from the Hoffman estate PD and I was cooperative or it could have been an extremely hostile situation. I could’ve been hurt or anything. Carolina never even looked at me like a human because I am black. Hopefully this post brings light to this location and no one is ever tested this way.

Carolina And Drew was polite service was professional fast n friendly !Nice clean car no complaints here customer service was impeccable !Thank you both for a pleasant experience !

Drew is not a good customer concerned person. This place used to be awesome and now it really bites. I’ve had about 40 rentals with Hertz and it saddens me to give Drew this rating

I think the front desk person Dhruv Shah needs some lessons on customer service. Also everyone dropping off here should check their charges. This guy tried to accuse my husband of not returning the car with a full tank. We filled up right next to the store. Dhruv is knocking on the gas gauge to check and see if it’s full! From reading the other reviews looks like this location isn’t greatest! Oh, and when you complain you are accused of “being a racist” and apparently Dhruv is going to note that on the account! I’d give it 0 stars if I could!

Rented for the weekend to go to a funeral out of town. It was somewhat of okay when picking up. I ask about leaving my car and they just said I don't advise you too just cause of the area. He did not say they will tow my car if you leave it. So I get back to pick up my car, it's not there. They hear me saying I can not find my car. When I ask about calling the police is when they finally said it was probably towed. We have postings up. So I give them that butheard me say where is Mty car. Very bad customer service. It's know way they would not say that at first, so simple. If I was a person who did not have money and highly Blessed, it would have been a big problem!!!

? SHADY PEOPLE!!!BAD experience all around.They arranged pick up but gave the wrong ph# to the Lyft driver. So the driver left and I had to wait for another driver.When I got here, they tell me the type of car I reserved wasn't available so I had to pay extra for another car. What is the point of reservation if you're going to tell me to get a more expensive car?! If I hadn't needed the car urgently, I would have just left.When i returned the car, they charged me extra... AGAIN! They said the insurance only covered a limited number of days. This is incorrect. My insurance allows 21 days and I only had the car for over a week. I said I'm calling the insurance and stood right by the counter while I did so. The insurance rep asked to speak with Hertz, and Hertz said that I just had to discuss it with the claims adjustor since he already closed the contract. I guess this was the slip of paper he handed to me while I'm busy talking with my insurance. I understand that Hertz is not responsible for the limitations of any claim. However, it was underhanded and unprofessional for Hertz to "close the contract" knowing that I'm in discussion with the insurance. I threw that piece of paper on the floor and walked out.My insurance is great, but I wish they won't work with this shady business anymore.

This location is horrible!! They answer the phone, put it on hold forever, and disconnect the calls. When I called back, they said that they were too busy and I should not be calling back to get the attention. Worst customer service!
