Used Honda Fit Purchase
I bought a used 2013 Honda Fit from Mueller Subaru on November 18, 2023. I have had luck in the past when buying from certified pre-owned Honda dealers, and expected this experience to be no different. Boy was I wrong!
On November 29, 2023, I dropped the car off at the Mueller service center when the car started to idle rough, the engine light turned on, and the smell of gasoline filled the entire cabin. *As a side note, when I did the initial test drive, the vents were closed to recirculating air only. When I ran the heat once I got home, I knew I was in trouble! I should have known when the salesman kept reiterating that everything was fine: brakes were new, starter was new, up to date oil changes, full multi point inspection. Nothing to worry about!
Getting a courtesy car was another fine experience. I didn’t notice at the time, but while I waited in the lobby for my Subaru courtesy car, the service staff pulled the courtesy car all the way past where I would have walked around the front of the car to enter the driver’s seat to conceal the front end. I guess this was so I wouldn’t notice that the entire front end and grill were completely smashed in on their brand new Subaru Legacy! I drove it for a few miles before I noticed. I stopped off and immediately called the service department to state that I was not responsible for getting in an accident and wrecking the entire grill! The service person replies “oh it’s ok, a tow truck hit it last week lol!” ??? ok……so it turned out that a rat had chewed through the wiring of the 2013 Honda Fit’s radiator so the radiator and fan needed to be replaced. I had a courtesy car for 2 weeks and the total cost of the repair was $1,010.57. I have the Honda extended warranty so it cost me $316.62.
By January 30, 2024 the gasoline smell was still persistent inside the car. A local service center ran codes, performed an oil change, and did a multi-point inspection. Nothing remarkable except that it cost me $247.95. Warranty didn’t apply because no parts were replaced.
On May 22, 2024, after driving a 2013 Honda Fit that still smelled like gasoline on the inside, I was driving down a country road and heard a rattle and bang! The engine immediately lost compression and I could barely idle. Luckily I was able to pull off to the side of the road and call a tow truck. It turned out that spark plug #3 had shot out of the cylinder and wrecked the #3 coil with it. I had the car towed to a competent repair shop that had to remove and replace the intake manifold gasket, replace all 4 spark plugs (which I was under the impression was something that had been done when I bought the car, otherwise would have had them replaced immediately), and re-thread a cylinder to replace a coil. These repairs cost ME $922.76. The majority of the miles that I put on the Honda Fit are highway miles. Had this occurred on I-90, the results could have easily been catastrophic.
I am glad I now have a working 2013 Honda Fit but am extremely disappointed with the buying experience. All of these issues should have been identified and fixed BEFORE I bought the car. I will never buy a certified pre owned Honda again from this dealer, or any other dealer. If I buy used again, I am buying private party with a mechanic at my side. This has been an absolute nightmare. It’s taken six months and $1,487.33 in repairs out of my end to get this car where it needs to be. Absolutely PATHETIC! I’m glad I didn’t die on the highway with the last repair. Muller Subaru/Honda need to get their act together on the used car side.

I've had such a good experience with Muller Subaru. I've leased three vehicles, and I highly recommend Marcus Bennett; he provides excellent customer service, and gets you excited about your purchase/lease. The service department is fantastic with friendly advisors, and work is done on time. The dealership has comfortable options if you have to wait for your car to be serviced.

Sales consultant Bob Szramek and the rest of the team at Muller Subaru were a pleasure to work with.
Bob had excellent knowledge of Subaru’s products, helped answer all of our questions, and showed us all of the vehicles we wanted to see. When it came time to make a deal, that process was painless too. We left with a great deal on a new Outback without having to spend more than a few minutes actually negotiating anything.
I genuinely can’t imagine shopping for a Subaru anywhere else.

I brought my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. The tire rotation was never done but they charged me for it. I brought my car in again for the tire rotation and again it wasn't done. Also, promises by service department not kept.

After a long day of negotiating with Subaru dealers, Jon Quach deserves credit for bringing me into the dealership with the assurance that he could accommodate my budget and trade-in requirements for the Forester model I was interested in, along with the necessary features.
Despite arriving at the dealership moments before closing time, the team expedited the sales process commendably. Marcus Bennett, the star of this sale, generously gave his dinner to a colleague and stayed with me until every detail was finalized. Concurrently, while Eric from the finance department finalized my purchase, Marcus diligently transferred the contents of my trade-in to the new Forester and set the new car up, ensuring a seamless transition. He then introduced me to the new vehicle, highlighting several important features before concluding for the evening.
As the dealership was closing, Sebastian Pawlasek, who had been contributing behind the scenes, was finalizing the evening's duties. Unexpectedly, an issue arose, and Sebastian came out to assist me in the rain. As the rain intensified, he joined me in the car to continue his assistance until the issue was resolved, allowing me to begin my journey.
I strongly recommend Muller Subaru. They're just big enough to be able to provide great deals but small enough to be a family business that cares about its customers. Their consecutive recognition as recipients of the Subaru Love Promise Customer Commitment Award for four years and the 2023 Subaru Customer & Community Commitment Award clearly reflect their outstanding service.

I came into the dealership on a Friday afternoon looking to purchase a car. I had already spent time at another dealership the day before and earlier that day which turned out to be a less than pleasant experience and a waste of precious time. (Berman Subaru). I knew what I was looking for when I was met by Uziel the sales associate at Muller. He was an absolute pleasure to work with. Uzi made it happen all in time for me to head to the airport for my 6 pm flight home. To add to the complexity, I am from out of state and the car was going to be titled to me, however, it was going to stay in Chicago for my daughter to drive. The Muller team sprang into action and managed to complete the mountain of administration and paperwork so we could happily drive off! 5 star A plus. If you need a car, do not go anywhere else, go to Muller and ask for Uzi for the best service with a smile! He is rated as one of Chicago's top car salespeople and it is obvious why. Uzi, thank you for the tremendous customer experience, my daughter and I are grateful. She is absolutely thrilled with the car and loves, loves, loves it!
