DISAPPOINTED! I was sent here by my Primary doctor due to some health concerns she had. She called ahead so they were expecting me. Upon arrival, I was told to take a seat and wait. I made it through to the triage fairly quickly, but after that, the wait began. I waited for 5 hours to be called to the back area only to find out that I would be sharing a room (yes, there was a curtain between myself and another patient). So much for privacy or confidentiality. I was hesitant to answer some questions because there was a complete stranger on the other side of the curtain. I guess there is a shortage of nurses and doctors because they were stretched very thin that night. I felt like everything was rushed with the exception of my care! The nurses and doctors tried to do what they could but I just find it hard to believe that this is what Emergency Care looks like. After spending more than 12 hours at this place, I must say that I left disappointed and concerned for those who need immediate (Emergency) care in our area.

The ER is extremely dirty. The seats are peeling. Even the toilet seats are peeling. The bathrooms are worse than the ones at Dollar tree. The wait is horrendous regardless of your symptoms. I went to the ER with shortness of breath, high BP, shaking, etc. only to be gaslighted and told that I have anxiety. My blood work was not good and they told me it was. The ER doctor was incredibly rude to me and just so condescending. The blood pressure cuffs do not even fit. And I know I'm not the biggest person who has ever existed. I'm only giving this place two stars because the nurses and techs were very nice.

My mother had knee surgery yesterday and has had the best experience I could have witnessed. We arrived at 5 am and we're greeted with a warm smile. When we were called back, the nurses who helped get her checked in and prepped for surgery were all super sweet. Everything was explained to us and they took time to make sure we knew what the process would be. After she was taken back, several nurses stopped in to ask if I needed anything and let me know she would be moved to her room after recovery. The surgeon came back and let me know everything went well. Overall, amazing communication from the staff. The OR nurse showed me up to her room and in no time they rolled her in. Her nurse Felix in 3-West was awesome. Very friendly and made sure she was comfortable. The other nurse or medical assistant Andrea was such a superstar. She was checking her vitals on time and helping in any ways she could. She was on it. Her physical therapist was also sweet and explained everything very well. The whole 3-West team was just fantastic. The hospital was extremely clean and well maintained. All staff we experienced were friendly and caring.

Went today for a outpatient colonoscopy through the rear (no pun intended ) of the ER section. I was met by my RN Tenisha and she was awesome with her attention to detail. She answered all of my questions and was very helpful. Ashley was great too. She placed the IV Into my hand (opposite of palm side) and was flawless. I barely felt anything. My doctor Lau was, as always, super great and awesome. I felt comfortable and was treated perfectly by everyone. The bathrooms were super clean too by the way. Since a few of us had to run to the washroom due to the cleansing prep I figured a few of us wouldn't make it to the toilet on time. . However, they were clean! Great job South Suburban.

This is the worst hospital experience I have ever had. NEVER again! I recommend everyone to go to urgent care in Flossmoor instead. I just saw them turn so many people around. They told this lady they couldn't help her and ripped out her IV she left crying in a wheel chair this is a HOT mess!

I birthed my daughter here in 2019. I did most of my laboring at home so upon arriving here I was having contractions every 3-4 minutes. I never understood why nurses & doctors don’t listen to patients. I was hooked up to the monitor so they can have their own readings but that’s where I think they lost time to prepare for the delivery. I remember laying close to the monitor with straps so uncomfortable, I couldn’t walk around anymore and my pain was quickly getting stronger. My husband kept calling the nurses/head nurse and I was finally checked and upon visual confirmation I was quickly rushed to the birthing room and a team of nurses were paged to prepare for the delivery. By this point I must have been having contractions every 15 seconds. In the birthing room, I kept communicating that the baby was coming and I was only told that the doctor was on the way. I communicated that I was with the midwife team but they hadn’t had a midwife in the building and that one was on the way. What started as a wonderful labor experience at home with controlled breathing and just feeling with tune with my body ended up feeling nervous and anxious at the hospital, especially because their on call doctor was taking too long to arrive and I was just laying there with my legs wide open. The last thing I said was that I needed to push and my husband was the only supporter, I had a nurse keeping that visual on check and immediately as the doctor walked in, taking his sweet time to put on his robe and gloves I made that second push and his face went from ? to ? and rushed over to get this baby, the nurse loudly shouted ? baby is crowning! The ordeal was finally over and the head nurse communicated with the doctor that the rest of the job will be up for the midwife (stitching and delivering the placenta). Which about 2 minutes later the midwife came and assessed my health and helped with the rest of my care. When I say everything was rushed, I mean it. I still had my T-shirt on & my own socks (instead of those hospital nonslip ones) and had to take it off so I can have that skin on skin contact after baby had came through. Once transferred to my recovery room, everything else fell into place. I had a lactation consultant and was able to successfully breastfeed at the hospital and during that time there was also a free service for mothers to a free full body massage, which I enjoyed. My older daughter was able to come visit her baby sister and I was also able to select the foods I wanted from their menu. Everything was before Covid hit and even though the beginning was frustrating, all the wonderful nurses were attentive to my care and so kind.

So I'm sitting in the ER right now with my mom. Brought her in... feeling did-orientated last night... legs hurting... head hurting... feeling out of it. We've been here going on 5 hours. ER is packed, I understand this. My mom is 90. A diabetic. Hasn't eaten. Has heart problems and when I ask how much longer because my diabetic mother hasn't had her medicine or food... they tell me they're going to check and let me know. How are you going to let me know when you didn't even ask my name???? HOUSE SUP are you here today??????

My kids were in a rollover car accident tonight or should I last night and we're still waiting to see a doctor. Check-in 10:20 PM - 5:10 AM and still no doctor and what seems to be only one nurse. How is getting rid of all your LPNs working for you now? Right now there is a lady who has been in agonizing pain for over two hours and is still in the waiting room and still no doctor. This is the worst-run ED I have ever seen only second to San Gorgonio in California which no one can beat them.

Not the most pleasant experience; a bit uncomfortable to say the least. But this is necessary preventative health care, because it's important to take care of ourselves. Have been coming here for years and will continue. The ladies that work in this department make you feel like a princess which is nice considering you may be feeling a bit nervous. Everything is so pretty and pink.
