So currently staying here and this is not the holiday inn that I know an love. This is like the off brand version of it. My stay isn't fully complete but here are some things about it.
We got a double room and the beds are a bit small. There's no microwave or fridge here. I'm pretty convinced our heat doesn't work because it's on heat and its SLOWLY blowing out cold air when it's set to 76. On high or low it's just cold air. The TV is on a stand and not like the huge ones mounted on a wall. I believe the restaurant is closed because we got here at 6pm and it was just dark. They didn't mention breakfast hours so I don't know if that's a thing or not. The toilet flushes good so I can appreciate that and they have dove products in the bathroom for hair and hands and lotion.
All in all for 211 or whichever the price was for a weekend I got what I paid for. Will mention the heat in the morning and see what they can do.
Edit. So the breakfast is 11.99 a person and kids are free with a paying adult I think. Didn't ask about the heat because down the hall there was another unit in the hall by the elevators and it was blowing the same air as ours was. There's one microwave in the lobby though. But you are close to the mall and that's a plus but other than that will not be returning

Our room did not provide fridge or microwave, but family in another room had them.
Nearby activities: Six Flags Great America next door.

Highly recommend this place. Most helpful staff and management. Plus, they're hot. Not that anyone asked but everyone that works here is attractive which helps. Happy National Hispanic Heritage Month to everyone that works there that this applies to. The Housekeeping Staff are one of the best parts of this location. Love them. All of them. They deserve awards for what they have to put up with to be Frank. The cleanliness has more to do with some of the people that stay there, not the Housekeepers. Ants are attracted by food, just saying. Being short staffed and overstimulated has nothing to to with the location, but all to do with the economy. XOXO

Had a King room, room and bathroom were nice and clean, bed very comfy, and staff were friendly. All in all, I had a great experience.

I booked a standard double bed room. There was is no microwave or mini refrigerator in those types of rooms. I don’t know if they have them in a suite, but in a standard there were none. I expected to have those amenities inside of a standard room because anywhere else I stayed it was a standard amenity. The downstairs bar/restaurant was permanently closed. They only serve a breakfast buffet in the mornings for $12 per person and 1 child eats free with per paying adult. The hot tub in the pool area is covered and shut down permanently as well. I was traveling with my family and this hotel did not accommodate my family. I needed a mini refrigerator for juice boxes and nursing milk. It did have a coffee maker in the room but we don’t drink coffee so it was useless for our family needs. Lesson learned we won’t be staying at this property in the future.

Breakfast is terrible. It's literally the worst breakfast of any hotel. It's like the Holiday Inn Express breakfast minus the bread, toast, and a bunch of other things.
The sign says assortment of pastries - it means a prepackaged muffin. It also says bacon, also a lie. They have gross sausage patties.
The total selection is egg, sausage patty, potatoes, premade soggy pancakes, cereal cups, vanilla yogurt cups, fruit cups that are full of sugar, prepackaged muffin and oranges. That's it.
Hardly worth 5$ never mind 11.99.
Rooms are ok. Tired but ok.
Would not stay here again. Only reason I picked it was it was close to where I was working. Would rather stay a bit further and have a better breakfast.

Bad hotel ever , scammers didn’t give me my $200 dollars deposit and I’m still waiting for a month already. I booked for 3 nights 2 rooms and we drive all night from Arkansas and wen we got there we didn’t have our rooms ready because they said we didn’t show on time so we asked for refund they said no!! So no rooms no refund we lost $800 and we slept on the floor with a baby.

Old hotel and rooms. Unlit parking lot in the back - seems unsafe. Called the front desk 3 times and no one seems to answer and the phone rings and then loops back to the menu. The only thing this hotel has going for it is the physical location as it was convenient for local work.

Still staying at the hotel but can not hold to write a review, a negative one. I have been with holiday inn for many years, many positive experiences in the past but not in the last two years. This holiday inn hotel is very outdated, dirty very badly worn carpets throughout. Noting offered at the lobby, no water, coffee etc. Not greeted for my membership status, no complimentary water or anything. Surrounding the property there are weeds everywhere, cracked driveways. It is a property not being well maintained and managed. Sorry but won’t come back.

Just stayed a few days ago to take the kids in the little getaway for Great America before school starts back the hotel is very nice and clean the rooms are nice and clean however the lighting is terrible
Nearby activities: There's a lot of places to eat Gurnee Mills is right across the street everything is in the surrounding area Great America is right down the street Gurnee Mills shopping mall Great American theme park Hurricane Harbor theme park all close proximity
Walkability: The bathroom is really small although the water pressure is great in the shower it is a small bathroom the breakfast is horrible that is the worst part about the whole thing the food tastes like it came from some weird school cafeteria it's terrible and the staff in the breakfast room was very pushy and kind of rude rushing you telling us that we had to get up and leave this breakfast is over with at 9:00 and it was literally 8:50 and they were telling us you got to leave you got to go and we're looking like okay can we have a couple more minutes to eat our food other than that what I stay again possibly I don't know it's a maybe but it wasn't the worst experience

I came to check in early without knowing, and the front desk service could have been a lot more welcoming. I'm told that's sort of an issue around here.
When I turned on the shower, the water pressure was so low it was just dripping out of the top of the faucet and the shower handle fell off into the bathtub and was spraying all over the floor. So that was the first 5 minutes of the experience in this hotel.
