“The location is great. The pool and hot tub area was nice and breakfast was included. Parking is free and in a parking lot. The staff was friendly.Room 230 - We had a 2 queen room with a pull out sofa. The sofa had a tear, M&M's by it/under it and some loose change on the seats. We draped a sheet on it to use for seating. The beds had hairs and stains on them. Pulling back the covers revealed more hairs of all sorts. Different lengths, colors, pets, etc. and crumbs? The shower doesn't drain well so it has standing water and makes a high pitch whistling sound after a few minutes. The bathroom door locks from the inside but you can open it from the outside. The sink drain is broken so it's just halfway jammed in there and drains very slowly. The bathroom wall has dirt splashes on it and there are holes in the shower curtain. There are outlet covers that are very loose and one outlet has something broke off in it. This is by the TV and desk area. It appears to be a ground from something. The closet needs some screws tightened, the hinges are loose so it doesn't close when it's opened. The air conditioner/heating unit makes a loud noise almost like a flag flapping in the wind. For some reason, it happened more around 4 am and 6-7 am for very long periods of time.Everything else was fine. Breakfast changes slightly daily. Lobby is clean. This is not an expensive hotel but people expect things to be in clean, working order. We figure things out as we go but I will always leave an honest review. This was everything about our first impression and the list of things that should be fixed to make a great first impression for Room 230. (Telling you about it at the time gives you the chance to change it to make a second impression. Things should be in clean, working order upon arrival and there were many things looked over in this room) Everything else was good and hopefully the other rooms are much better! :)”

“The food and experience of this beautiful historic building was wonderful. Our waiter George was spot on with suggestions and his knowledge of the menu. Our daughter has allergies and food limitations, George was able to help her with her choices. Loved the old “Bar” as well. We will be seeing you all soon.

Safety: Lake Forest is a very safe town”

“A colleague booked this trip. Hotel right off the interstate, convenient but not quiet. Front desk staff was hit or miss in terms of service. Bartender spent most of her time playing gin rummy with the waitress. Full bar and restaurant, a good spot for meetings/conference. Food menu at HGIs is usually consistently decent.”

“Don't stay here unless... you want to be close to shopping, whether it's for something in the mall or a nearby chain store. If your hungry, don't drive far. Breakfast is served daily. Most restaurants are nearby within minutes for lunch and dinner. If you plan to go to a graduation for the naval academy/ out for fun at a theme park which is near by. Staff throughout the hotel was helpful. Came late due to a delayed flight but had someone there to let us check in. Gave us a good idea for places to go whether it be food or entertainment. Had fun at the indoor pool which was open until 10pm. I was able to attend my function at the navy base for graduation. Although families were present, I couldn't tell from my room. It was peaceful. Overall this is the place I'm booking if I ever have to return to Gurnee, Illinois.Rooms: Clean, spacious, comfortable with easy to control ambient.Nearby activities: Indoor pool. Six flags great america is the nearest theme park. Along with great wolf lodge.Walkability: Mall is just across the parking lot. Enough said.Food & drinks: Breakfast served daily. More than 5 places to choose lunch or dinner from all within minutes from location”

“If you are looking for an extended stay hotel, Extended Stay America - Gurnee, should be at the top of your list. The rooms are clean, and spacious with every amenity to make you feel at home. But, what really makes this hotel special, is the staff and management. Brian always got me the best deals, whether it was the daily, weekly or monthly rate. Lavarius and Lupe are always there to help, and provide you this anything you might need to make your stay more at home.Marcos”

“We usually stay here when visiting family, and have recommended it to other out of town relatives. The staff is great and accommodating. My only complaint during our last visit was that the room was not as nice as our prior visits (pretty run down), and the hotel was overrun due to an EDM concert at the fairgrounds. I only wish they would have put the concert-goers on the same floor(s) together and put "regular" guests in a different area. The halls reaked from all of the pot smoking that was going on, and the partying was non-stop. They broke the elevator, and to the hotel's credit, it was repaired in a timely manner. Overall, the hotel is a great value and we love the staff. I just hope the next time they have a crowd like they did, they segregate the groups so everyone can have a good visit.Rooms: The rooms are functional with a kitchenette and full-size refrigerator. They are a little dated, but it's a great value.”

“Did not stay. I went there for a wedding. The service was superb. The beef gravy was too salty, and the mashed potatoes didn't have any flavor and seemed like paste. Everything else was good.”

“5/23 Perfect stay, Very clean room and hotel. Great service at the desk, pool was really nice, Great breakfast choices. The room had some REALLY nice touches, a night light in the bathroom, an air deflector over the AC vent to stop the curtains from blowing all around, a real sofa that was actually comfortable and a great desk chair, a solid surface remote for the TV that was easy to clean and not become the usual germ pit. These sound like little things but trust me they are a culmination of thought that leads to a very pleasant stay. These people did their homework and deserve a pat on the back.”

“Great rooms, good prices, great service. While they aren't the best rooms in the world they are clean their prices definitely make the best up for them and it's a lot of things to do around it. It's best to come a little early because they are first come first serve especially on the weekends. Definitely ”

“I recently stayed at Sonesta Simply Suites and found it to be a great choice, especially for a longer stay. The area around the hotel felt very safe, and the rooms were comfortable and well-maintained. One thing I noticed was that the customer service could be a bit slow at times, but it wasn't a big issue. The hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of a few restaurants and grocery stores, which I found really handy. Having a kitchen in the room was a huge plus. If you're planning a longer trip, this hotel could be a perfect fit because of its convenient amenities and location.Rooms: Neat and cleanNearby activities: Got few groceries storiesSafety: Felt Safe around the areaFood & drinks: Have many restaurants in walking distance”

“Five stars for me personally. I don’t need anything fancy I just want a clean quiet place to sleep and relax. It worked great for that. Like I told them… If I ran the place I would run a little tighter ship in the areas of maintenance and upkeep.”
