William Krekel started the Krekel brand in 1953 on Eldorado Street in Decatur, Illinois. There are now seven Krekel's locations throughout Central, Illinois, and we are proud to be a part of that tradition.
The Springfield Krekel's location opened in 1993. Krekel Burgers are made to order with fresh, never frozen ground beef, seared thin and served on a toasted bun. Krekel Burgers are amazingly thin - almost crunchy - with just enough grease to add flavor and remind you that they're prepared the old-fashioned way: on a sizzling hot grill. The fries are hot and crispy and the many flavors of ice cream come in milkshakes, sundaes, concretes, or simple cones or cups. All of our food is made to order and well worth the short wait!
