last year I bought 4 small Lantana plants and they did not disappoint. all lantanas grew very large and attracted hummingbirds,Hummingbird Moths and Butterflies. I will be buying more this year.

This is the closest nursery to my home and it has taken me a year to shop here. I was in need of autumn hanging baskets, my spring baskets were on their last hurrah. Being in need, I headed to the nursery that I shopped when I did my spring landscaping. To my surprise, they were out of hanging baskets. The owner who was assisting me, recommended, The Plant Stand. We shared a laugh when I told him they were the closest to my house, but I drove the distance to support him again. He appreciated my loyalty, but thought I'd find what I needed at TPS. I thanked him and started my drive back home. Now let me tell you why I haven't shopped TPS when it is the closest one to my home. It simple is, presentation. It is right on the main drag through Godfrey and it just has never been appealing enough to get me to stop by. I found a hanging basket that meet my needs and will get me through fall. I actually wanted 3, but settled on just one for the front entrance. TPS did have an average selection of plants, some of them were marked down for late season clearance. Shopping up close, I could see why it did not look appealing from the road. Many of their plants were in need of TLC. When selling plants, the dead foliage needs to be picked off, so the plants appear perky and beautiful. Many of the plants were in need of attention to make them buyer friendly. The lady working was pleasant enough and the price of my hanging basket was a good value. Appearance is everything when it comes to buying live plants. This visit may have been a little rough around the edges, but I'll give them another try next spring. When: September 30, 2021Why: Hanging Basket
