EXCELLENT CARE!

When I moved into this area over the summer, I tried a different vet office in the area. That office was dirty, cramped, and dim. The care was fine, but facilities means something. Hawthorne is both way cleaner and has top-tier service. I had to have my bulldog put down in September and was so thankful for Hawthorne's 24 hour service. I now have a kitten, and will likely have another bulldog at some point, and take them to Hawthorne.

Everyone is really great. The doctors are very knowledgable and nice. I'm very happy I go there.

I have 20 yo kitty. After moving to Collinsville, I picked Hawthorne on recommendations. I recently took her to get her nails trimmed. In 20 years it has never bothered her. I heard meowing and screaming down the hall. They told me it was her not happy about the trim. I'm not real happy that this occurred. And they didn't do some of her nails. She's come home and all upset for days now. I'm not sure if they manhandled her or what. 20 yo, and 4.5 pounds.her claws are still sticking to blankets and carpet. Not a good experience for either of us ?

I was told on the phone that my cats ear infection that he’s had for WEEKS was not an emergency and it would take a couple more weeks to get him in. How are you gonna make my cat who has an ear infection WAIT even longer and wait for it to get even WORSE

GREAT place, overall. They're not just emergency, they're also a regular vets office, a damned good one.Their process for putting a pet to sleep (euthanasia) is WONDERFUL. They've got a Comfort Room, where you can sit & say goodbye before the shot. They're SO GENEROUS with their time & attention. ❤️ It helped me handle it, actually. They also make pawprints in plaster. It's a keepsake in a leatherette case w a photo holder. Its lovely and a wonderful momento. It was genuinely helpful to leave with something of my pet. (pics included)The staff are all wonderful and fabulous. I've never had a bad experience here. I've lost 2 cats in the last 3 years (age) This office & all the staff - they have been so amazing during the Hospice portion of care, before my cats passed. They're the vet for my last cat, who is 18yo!

I've lost 2 pets here. After losing both, they charged me more money for both after they passed away. A deposit was left for a 2 to 3 day stay. Lost both the first night, and the charge was above the 3 day rate. Way overpriced for their services. Very inconsiderate about pet owners. Do not use unless desperate. If desperate, you'll probably be over charged and left with a pet loss. DO NOT TAKE A PET HERE. The last pet was diagnosed as going to make it. When I got home there was a message on my phone that @#$%^& didn't make it and please come pay your bill as soon as possible. DO NOT USE THIS VET SERVICE.

Called this morning , New Years Eve, on our way with our dog who woke up peeing blood. It being a Sunday and NYE, we wouldn’t be able to get her in to our vet until Tuesday. The first thing these money hungry scam artists say is that holiday charge will be $445 to be seen and that there will be a wait because there are other emergencies coming in. Ok, I get it! This isn’t a true emergency for you but we can’t get our girl in to her vet for 2 days for care. We go to check her in and ask if there’s anything we could do or get to just hold her off until Tuesday so we can go see her normal vet. The lady would not give us the time of day until we paid the $445. I called Animal Emergency Center in Collinsville and they were not only absolutely fabulous, caring and quick…they were no where near the price!

Our 14 year old dog got sick while we were visiting family 12 hours from home. After a few days of her not getting better, we took her to Hawthorne for help. We got it! We expected a long wait since it’s an emergency clinic, but we were quickly admitted and seen. The vet gave our dog an exam and explained to us what she thought was going on. Instead of doing unnecessary and expensive testing, she gave our dog a shot and medication. She said we should see improvement within 24 hours. If we didn’t, we should bring her back for further testing. The vet was right; we noticed improvement within hours so a second visit was not needed. We are happy with the care our dog received, the kindness of the employees, the ease of checking in and out, and the positive results of the visit.

Two years ago My Girl Pearl jumped in front of me when one of my daughter’s horses got out and, running back to the barn and with me trying to steer it back inside, the show horse came running full speed right at me. Before I could try to jump out of the way, Pearl came from behind me, jumped in front of me, turned the horse and was run over and smashed. The result was a horrible compound fracture of the lower and upper right leg. We rushed her to Hawthorne as the only surgical center in southeast Illinois. With the leg in fragments, the treating veterinary and the head doctor told me honestly and compassionately that the recommended best choice was to euthanize Pearl but that amputation was possible but with a very limited survival prognosis.Long story short, I could not bear the thought of losing Pearl and told her vet Dr. Kirk Hubbard to amputate the leg, stating that with his) help I would give Pearl the best life possible for as long as she had the will to survive. I started that process by visiting and sitting with Oearl every day while she was hospitalized, full of IVs, and recuperating until she finally came home.Working together, we have given that best life possible to Pearl. It has not been easy to do for a 90+ pound Staffordshire, but why I am writing this review is to give thanks and my appreciation to Hawthorne and especially Dr. Kirk Hubbard, Pearl’s attending Physicial.Dr. Hubbard has provided exceptional care to Pearl over the last two years. He has prescribed periodic water treadmill treatment, provision of pain and other prescription care as needed and as helpful, and most recently has been providing Pearl with physical therapy, massage, and laser treatments on a weekly basis.Early on Dr. Hubbard prescribed a joint supplement called YuMove Advance 360 hip and joint supplement for Pearl, and that was very helpful to PEARL. Starting in early November he also secured a recently approved and for the US an Experimental new joint and arthritis drug for dogs CALLED Librela. Pearl has had to monthly injections so far, and her ability to walk by herself and get around more independently has already shown real improvement. The added months of Pearl’s life and her improvement and stability from a horrific accident are a testament of the quality of care provided by Dr. Hubbard. He is the most conscientious, compassionate, caring, and loving vet I have ever known, and I have known several over my lifetime, both dog and horse professionals. He is exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and openly communicates to me about Pearl’s condition, needs, and treatment and care options. More than anything, I judge him as a vet and as a person by how Pearl interacts with him. Before she came to me as a rescue, Pearl had a hard life in many respects and has difficulty with trusting most people. As he always does, when he got down on the floor with Pearl at her first post surgical check, I knew he was the kind of vet animals deserve when Pearl did something she had never done even with me. Scooting over the floor, she struggled into his lap and gave him a kiss. There is no greater testament to his character and qualities as a vet than my dog’s display of appreciation, gratitude, and love back to him. He is a credit to Hawthorne, his professional commitment to patients, and to humanity a whole.

Middle of the night, come home and our two beloved dogs had gotten into a horrible fight. Rushed both of them there, one had to be put down. We were just heartbroken and remain that way to this day. Everybody there was compassionate and the follow up was amazing as well. Made a terrible night just a bit more bearable.

We have been taking our dogs to Hawthorne for over 20+ years. I believe that the service of the doctors is amazing. They have saved the lives of my dogs and they have made the perfect enviorment for them as they passed as well. I do believe that the boarding department could have improvement when it comes to organtization and efficiency. But overall this hospital is amazing.

3 hours. The appt took 3 hours. It took 30 mins to get into a room. Another 30+ to see the vet and roughly 40 mins spent getting me an estimate for the care they recommended only for it to be wrong and for them to go back and redo it. They said it was because of an emergency that popped up. We called with an emergency the other day and they said it would be hours before we could be seen because of appts they already had. Seems to be a poorly structured system. Did not get the impression that we were a priority.
