let me say the veterinary care is excellent BUT grooming is another issue. how much time does it take to CALL a client that your dog won't be groomed for at least another 2 hours....he was already there, sitting in a crate for 4 hours and all he was getting was a bath and tidy. I guess it doesn't matter to them! JUST a CALL...seriously is that asking too much????

“Suggested” we take our dog who was attacked and needed care to go somewhere else because they were closing soon instead of staying late to do their job

If you love your dog do not take them here.
Our precious Chelsea was misdiagnosed two days in a row by Dr David.
So he said it was a GI problem the first day from the pup cake I gave her. Did bloodwork to test her pancreas and her bloodwork was perfect. (She was wheezing terribly. But she had collapsing trachea from just age and being a toy breed but we had that under control with meds.) he said that’s why she’s wheezing and he didn’t hear anything wrong with her lungs. Sent us home with prescription food and sedated her to make her more comfortable and hoped that the rest would fix her “GI problem”. She would not eat at all and when she came out of the sedation she was wheezing worse and so they told us to give her pain meds. Went and got them and had to force feed them to our precious girl as she was not eating at all.
Over night was worse. Took her 1st thing the next morning. They finally did chest X-rays and him and another “dr” looked and saw “something” but they weren’t sure what. Wanted to start her on a broad spectrum antibiotic in case it was aspiration pneumonia. Dr David said that because she was drinking fluids that they wouldn’t have to “keep her there” and sent us back home. However, the pills had to be given with food. She wasn’t eating. And now (fast forward a few hours) she was just sitting in the corner drooling and wheezing terribly. Called them again and spoke to a VERY unpleasant woman. I was in a panic and explained everything that was going on. She “spoke to the doctor” and they said that she “might need to be hospitalized, but they don’t do that here”. (Whomever that was most definitely needs to receive sensitivity training, or should perhaps not work with the public.)
We rushed her straight to the er vet and they knew right away it was aspiration pneumonia. They seemed so hopeful that putting her in the oxygen chamber and giving her iv antibiotics would fix her right up because though she was 13 she was in such good health. But her poor lungs were already so damaged that she just got worse and worse. Even at 50% pure oxygen she couldn’t breathe, her little tongue was turning purple and they were about to intubate her when I pullled up the next morning. Within an hour or two we had to say enough.
If she was treated properly by these money hungry people at Millbrook she may very well still be here. If Dr David was not “sleep deprived” as he told me during the initial checkup maybe it would have made a difference in her diagnosis.
If you are reading this I hope you know that you single handedly broke our hearts.
**In response to their response….. No “director” has made any attempt to reach out to us. And I firmly do not believe that she received proper care. Treating for a GI issue when a dog is wheezing and struggling to breathe does not sound like it’s “by the books” to me.**
The icing on the cake is that they had the audacity to send a card addressed only to my husband (the nice, understanding member of the family). Thank you for that final slap in the face.

My cat’s medicine that was prescribed to me wasn’t in the clinic so I had to order online. So that was frustrating but everyone was super friendly and they took care of my kitty. Not to mention the customer service was good.

I'd give it 5, but the hassle we have to go through for a prescription that we can take elsewhere tempted me to leave a two star, so there is that. My wife loves the place and the dogs are acclimated; so for now the four stays

I am utterly devastated by the incompetence and negligence displayed by Dr. Jessica at Millbrook Animal Care Clinic which led to the untimely death of my beloved dog Maple. Despite my explicit concerns and clear description of my dog's symptoms, the veterinarian at this clinic stubbornly insisted on a misdiagnosis of Blastomycosis, wasting precious time and ultimately costing my dog's life.
From the moment I brought my dog in, I expressed my doubts about the diagnosis of Blastomycosis. Yet, instead of listening to my concerns and conducting a thorough examination, the vet seemed fixated on this diagnosis, completely disregarding any other possibilities. This tunnel vision resulted in a delay of two critical weeks during which proper treatment could have been initiated. The test to rule out the Blastomycosis requires you get a urine sample and it be sent to a clinic in California. I brought in my urine sample and 3 days later they gave me a call. I figure the call was to let me know the results, but it was to inform me that they had misplaced the urine and I needed to bring another one in. Brought in the second urine sample and had to wait another 3 days just so the vet would get over the fact that they thought it was Blasto.
Had Dr. Jessica been attentive and open-minded, they would have realized that my dog's symptoms did not align with Blastomycosis. Their failure to consider alternative diagnoses or conduct further tests demonstrates a shocking lack of competence and professionalism.
Once they realized it wasn't the Blasto their next thought was either a tick-borne illness or something called Leptospirosis and both of those illnesses would be fixed by an antibiotic Doxycycline. Dr. Jessica insisted in 3 days I would see results and she should get better. She said if I was really concerned, they could hospitalize her to give her fluids. My dog the whole time had been drinking an excessive amount of water, so I didn't think she needed to undergo more stress being in an unknown place just to get more fluids which I knew she was good on. Tragically, by the time the third day hit my dog passed away at home. One of the frustrating things was if I would have known these possible diagnoses were an option I had Doxycycline at my house already from another misdiagnosis from Dr. Jessican 5 months earlier.
Before Maple passed away and I found out she could have Leptospirosis I was informed how contagious it could be. I called and left Dr. Jessica a message requesting the same medication for my other dog to avoid him getting sick, or more sick. She never returned my call. Once Maple passed away I called and left a message with the pharmacy, and still no return call saying they would fill the script. I called a third time and asked the girl at the front desk and she told me the script was ready and waiting for me. I asked why no one bothered to call me and she had no response. Since Maple passed away and she and Beau were about the same weight I decided to be proactive and give him her medication.
I urge pet owners to think twice before entrusting the care of their beloved animals to Dr. Jessica. I gave her the benefit of the doubt because she seemed like a "nice" person. Once all was said and done though she didn't even bother to reach out to me and say sorry for my loss. To that point no one from Millbrook Animal Care Clinic has reached out to me to say sorry. I received a letter from the crematorium expressing how sorry they were and they didn't even know my sweet dog. I trusted these people with my dogs life, and my dog trusted these people. Now my pet of 7 years and her son are without her. The negligence and inability to properly diagnose and treat animals cost me the life of my cherished pet, and I would hate for anyone else to experience such heartbreak and loss. If you have to go here see Dr. Jenn, she was the only one who I feel like cared for my dog and her well-being.

Dr. Jen was AMAZING! My cat has extreme anxiety and causes me a lot of anxiety while taking him to the vet and she calmed my nerves greatly. He had to be sedated to complete the exam and she talked me through every step and was so calm with him while transitioning between rooms. I highly recommend Millbrook for anyone experiencing anxious pets because they will treat you with such kindness!
