The Goldmoor Inn is something everyone should have the chance to experience. I have attended two Chamber of Commerce events at the Goldmoor and thoroughly enjoyed each of them. The food is always delicious and the service is 5 star. The owners make sure all of their guests are treated with the utmost respect and personal care. The Inn itself is spotless and beautifully kept. I highly recommend taking in the view of the surrounding territory from the 'sunset terrace' you will never forget the experience. Highly recommend the Goldmoor Inn if visiting the Galena area. On my next visit, i plan on staying a few days to enjoy the luxurious accommodations and the fine dining.
Noteworthy details: The sunset terrace has the most amazing, relaxing and breathtaking view.

What an incredible experience!
The Goldmoor Inn is a must for any special occasion. The view from the deck, the service, the dining experience was a treat. All around atmosphere was wonderful. We even had a private dining room reserved for our group.
Thank you for your hospitality, Slobo and staff.
We look forward to our next visit.

An exquisite dining experience. We enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the Mississippi River from our table. The ambience was perfect. The drive is worth it and down a nice quiet road away from the busyness of town.
Service was to perfection. Attentive and professional but just in the right amount. The flavors were astounding. Their duck confit ... amazing! The beef wellington was superb. The scallops to perfection. Panna cotta was a culinary delight. (April menu)

We did not stay overnight but ate in dining room. The host and hostess did not spare in details. The view from the dining area was spectacular. The waiter was awesome. The staff made sure that I was safe because of a food allergy.
Food & drinks: The food was so delicious. Soup was delicious as well. Enjoyed the meal at a relaxing place. I would highly recommend this resturant.

We stayed here to celebrate our birthdays at the Irish Country Cottage. The entire staff, grounds and food were perfection! The beautiful river stone used around the fireplace was continued into the bathroom shower as a secret in shower waterfall. The room had so many sweet touches from the cookies at checking in, to our in room dinner and breakfast. We absolutely loved everything we had the pleasure to eat here! The food was AMAZING. The view from our private porch made this cottage extra special. We observed all kinds of wildlife and got to watch the horses play in the stables too. It was a magical stay!
Rooms: Themed suites. Jacuzzis. Great views.
Nearby activities: Galena is less than 15 minutes away. There are tons of shops to visit. Gorgeous city to explore.
Walkability: Beautiful grounds to take a stroll. Abundance of wildlife and nature to view.
Food & drinks: Best birthday dinner ever. Perfectly cooked. Room service available. Worth every penny.

A profoundly embarrassing and disappointing experience. I made a reservation for my wife’s birthday. She has been missing unique American fare so I decided to make the 1.5 hour trip to go to the Goldmoor. She was ecstatic once she saw the menu, as was I.We arrived and were greeted by a gentleman (perhaps the owner, which makes recalling the interaction even more infuriating), who asked us upon arrival if we were sisters. I politely said no. He then went on to say, “I could have sworn you were sisters.” After saying a second time we weren’t, he said, “are you sure?” By the time, I was over the evening already and we hadn’t even been shown our table yet. There are three profoundly important questions for the owner (?) to consider:First, is this a standardized question for every twosome that walks through the door? Put differently, I would be curious if the two couples around us were asked the same question. If not, then what is the explanation for asking two women if they are related and then more or less badgering them about it when they said no the first time?Second, this man then went around and asked every table around ours if they were ok and enjoying their time. He skipped our table every time he walked around. What is the explanation for that behavior?Third, what has happened in the past that has led someone to believe that they are exempt from making an impact on others with their behavior? This ridiculous interaction set the mood and tone of our entire $200.00 meal.Unfortunately, we do not support or recommend places that have staff who carry out microaggressions. This was an embarrassing and uncalled for interaction. My wife and I just wanted to celebrate a birthday, but instead we were met with weird questions about if we were related, then not believed when we said no. This place is interpersonally gross and I regret not walking out the second this person opened his mouth and failed to apologize. For reference, my wife is from the Middle East and I’m a white red head from the Midwest. Two women walk into a restaurant. That’s it. That’s the sentence. Grow up.

HORRRRRIBLE service from the restaurant in the Goldwork Inn. I made a reservation for the new years dinner and we needed to make a cancelation due to family issues that came up. The woman I spoke to on the phone yelled at me, called me names, etc. Told me that I'm ridiculous for canceling because they already ordered the food and that they will charge our card for all of the meals just because we said we cant make it. (5 days in advance.) She told me I have issues over the phone and hung up on me. I called back and told her she will hear from my lawyer if she charges my card for 5 meals when we never signed ANYTHING stating that we were going to be charged. This woman was disgusting and despicable in the way that she spoke to me. I have NEVER in my life experienced such horrible service from anyone in my entire life. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
