My wife and I stayed here for a weekend getaway in late September of 2024, and the experience was phenomenal. The hosts were extremely accommodating and attentive (but never obtrusive). The food was delicious and the service was absolutely top-notch. We stayed in the cottage (detached from the main building). It was wonderfully furnished, immaculately clean, and just had all-around fantastic accommodations. The attention to detail that the hosts put into their guests' experience is quite possibly the best we've ever encountered. I really can't say enough good things about our stay!

This is the best bed & breakfast in Galena!! Their service is outstanding! The breakfast was delicious and very filling. They offer wine, cheese and crackers each night. If you don't make it back in time, they will place it in the fridge for when you return. Also, you can receive the best homemade cookies each night. They have thought of every touch. I wouldn't stay anywhere else when I return to Galena.

Our first experience staying in a bed & breakfast, and Farmers Guest House made it incredible! The hosts are simply amazing, friendly, and so on top of everything. It really was so impressive all around!
The location is perfect for getting into and out of town, and only a short, 5 minute scenic walk into downtown. Public parking was easily accessible across the street.
We stayed in the Julia, which was very spacious and very clean. The breakfast, coffee, and mimosas were PHENOMENAL and we wish we could have every day start that way! The daily wine and cheese were also a really nice added touch.

We stayed in the Julia room for our five year anniversary. It was such a wonderful stay. The hosts were so nice and went above and beyond to ensure we had a good experience. They made sure we knew how to get through the construction and where to park, helped us with our bags, gave us a tour, delivered items to our room throughout the stay, were helpful with any questions we had, and more.
The food was just amazing. We loved the breakfast and mimosas in the morning and the crackers and cheese with wine in the afternoon.
We also loved how they had board games to play in the gathering room.
We enjoyed our time in Galena but we actually spent more time in the bed & breakfast than we did in the town. We will definitely be back in the future whenever we decide to visit Galena again.

Will miss Elaine's breakfasts, everything else don't care. Luke is rude and impolite (surprisingly they let him handle calls), and Mark(dad) believes Luke's lies about how conversations happened. We are very disappointed in their customer service and how we were treated. We stayed there before (earlier 2024) and Luke was rude then too. There are lots of other places to stay in Galena and there will be no Luke.

This past week was our THIRD stay at the Farmer's Guest House. I first booked this bed and breakfast on a whim and it's the BEST KEPT SECRET in Galena. First, the home is in a time machine to the past. Everything is charming and vintage, which I love. Our friends and I have stayed 2 more times since and loved every second. The little homey touches here and there, the late night Monopoly sessions on the Monopoly table, and the list goes on and on...
Luke, Elaine, and Mark are the foundation of this place. Their attention to detail is extraordinary, and it starts the moment you arrive at check-in. The house becomes your house for your stay, and you get little treats like cheese, crackers, water, wine, and whatever else they provide if you have a dietary restriction. And the COOKIES omg they are to die for. Don't even get me started about breakfast, which comes out in multiple courses and it is so delicious, the food is all we talk about everytime we have stayed. They use locally sourced ingredients and tell you about it so you can go buy them in downtown Galena (which is a short walk down the road). There's a little garden area behind the Farmer's Guest House if you want to sit outside and eat/drink your wine or take some photos, it's so beautiful out there.
Next year will hopefully be our 4th stay, we can't WAIT to come back.

Wonderful B&B to stay in. Mark came out to our car and helped us with our luggage. Were welcomed by Elaine and Luke..we felt at home right away. We loved the the charm and feel of this place. You feel like you're back in time in the 1800'S . Service is top, wine, cheese and crackers greet you. Clean rooms, great breakfast made just for you and those chocolate chip cookies are top. They really make you feel welcomed and are on top of your needs. Thank you Mark, Luke and Elaine..
We were very pleased.
Rooms: Nice clean, quiet and a big sitting area downstairs with TV, game table and lots of different games. I definitely recommend Farmers Guest House.

Walkability: Easy and close walk to Main St

I've stayed at quite a few hotels but very infrequently a true "Bed and breakfast"; the difference is incredible. It felt much more personal, the people there were very kind, and wanted to truly cater to your needs. Also it's very close to downtown. It's 100% worth the money and I can't recommend it enough.
Side note: Some of the best homemade cookies I've had in a while!

We stayed at Farmers Guest House for a weekend getaway from Chicago and had a great experience! Mark, Luke and Elaine are very nice and provided a family-like welcome and stay for us. From welcome "wine time" to the various snacks and homemade (and delicious) breakfast each morning, we had a great time and will definitely be back!

I love this place and I’m telling alllll my friends about it. We are a quirky pair that came in for a baby moon. The accommodations from the staff and the seriousness with which they took their role in ensuring we had a great experience were amazing. They had alcohol free wine, provided extra pillows so that I could get comfy and provided my husband and I food options that suited our dietary restrictions. Not only that but they always had good ideas of what we could do in town. Truly enjoyed staying here, not to mention I didn’t deal with that first night in a new bed loss of sleep and the proximity to town made the location absolutely fantastic!!!
Cannot recommend this place enough. Stay here and you will be delighted :)

Was a wonderful mini honeymoon thanks to Farmers House and Galena! Going to book our 1st Anniversary there!!Nearby activities: All the nostalgia of Galena. History, shops and food!Food & drinks: Breakfast everyday was out of this world! Loved the Julia Room!! Staff was amazing!

My wife and I took a long weekend and wanted to visit Galena again. We have taken many trips and our first bed and breakfast experience, in Saugatuak, MI, was a dud. We tried to give it another try for our anniversary and it was SO much better. Mark, Luke, and Elaine were very kind, welcoming, helpful, and completely flipped our expectations of what a bed and breakfast could be. As for the the logistcs, The Farmers Guest House is easily walkable to and from Downtown Galena, the room was comfy and relaxing, and my wife and I both said some of the best food we had was at breakfast (the Pumpkin spice cheesecake for her and the cheesy potatoes for me). We've already talked about coming back and we know where we'll be staying.
