Dropped off a set of cylinder heads to be assembled without an appointment. Heads were done the next day. They identified and corrected a problem, all within a very reasonable cost.Service: Engine repair

Took twice as long as quoted to have the specs of my engine block checked and bored. Gouged cylinder walls and gouged cam bearings and gouged crank bearings!

Ive waited to write this review but til some miles were on the car and I am very happy. Two years ago I blew my 06 Saleens engine, you can probably ask them at the shop they were impressed ha. So 15000 miles later, multiple track days (drag and auto cross) and a 1800 mile trip across half the United states I've had zero issues with the rebuild. Not one knock, no leaks. Changed the spark plugs about 1k miles ago and they looked good. If i ever need a engine rebuilt again I'd take it to this shop.

Went out to Fulton. IL for a fishing trip only to have my brakes go out on my van... There was hardly any mechanics available in this small river town so I headed to Clinton, IA and ran into the same problem. Everybody was backed up with work for 2 weeks so I coasted back into Fulton with my peddle hitting the floor to come to a slow stop. By the grace of God we stumbled on Layne Automotive and met with Anthony, his wife and son Colt. They took the time to listen to my situation and squeezed me in. They were also behind on work, but knew the wife and I were virtually stranded. Anthony performed a thorough diagnostic of my vehicle to learn that recent brake work I had done may not have been executed properly which led to dirty brake fluid being vacuumed back through the lines ruining a new Master Cylinder I just changed prior to our trip. Anthony was able to locate a supplier with the part and had me back on the road the next day. He also found a leaking rear wheel cylinder that he changed out as well. His wife and son were very kind and hospitable offering rides to the hotel and rental car company. We made the trek back home to the Chicagoland area safely.
