UPDATED 11/17/23I have brought my review from 2 stars to 1 star.One of the window companies that referred me to Blaine sent a repair person out to fix the handle on my old sliding door a few weeks ago. The repair person tried installing the new set and IT IS THE WRONG PART! It is not an exact replacement as was told to me by Blaine's salesperson. It is slightly too deep for the door. So the repair person installed the old set back into the sliding door with the new $13 keeper I purchased at Blaine.As a consumer, I trusted Blaine's professional when he told me that he was selling me a replacement handle set...even when I ended up not needing it. The new and old sets look very similar, but one part is slightly deeper, making it incompatible with my door (and therefore, not an exact replacement part.) I am a consumer - I don't know much about windows and locks and trusted the professional at Blaine to get me the part so my window repair guy could install it. Blaine's pro made a mistake.Emailed Blaine - no response.This makes Blaine's "no return" policy seem even more suspicious. A consumer who doesn't know about windows and doors has no room for error in purchasing a part, but their in-store professional can make an error in the part he sells and the consumer pays the price.ORIGINAL REVIEW OCTOBER 2023Warning to consumers: Be sure you know what you need and have a list of questions before you go in to look for parts. Don't assume you need something when you might not. Ask all questions before paying for anything.I purchased a door handle set and keeper (two separate items) and realized after the transaction went through (and before I left the store) that I actually likely had the missing piece for the handle set at home and didn't need a full new assembly, just the keeper. It hadn't occurred to me sooner, and the employee never asked if I had the 4th piece to the handle set I brought in, just sold me a full new set and was having it assembled when it occurred to me to ask why I couldn't just use the one I had with the new keeper I just purchased from them.When I told the employee that I didn't think I needed the handle set I had JUST purchased minutes ago, he told me he was incapable of issuing a return even though I didn't leave the store with the item and that they were already assembling it for me in back. Manager/owner was not present, so I took the part and reached out to management within hours of the transaction to share my experience and ask that the return be processed.Manager reviewed the tape and fails to acknowledge how they could have done better. He sent me several emails blaming consumers like me for the reason they have no return policies and thinks it's sad that I am going to come "smear" him in a review.He did make some good points, which is why I give 2 stars: employee was kind. They had the part I needed for a very old door...a part I could not find elsewhere. I acknowledge and appreciate these things, so if you cannot find a part anywhere else, this is the place to go.This review is not to bash Blaine, but to provide a warning to consumers like me who don't know much about windows and doors: Once they do the transaction at Blaine, even if you haven't left the store with the product, you're stuck. No refunds. No exceptions. No acknowledgement of how they could have done better or willingness to help, just accusatory, unkind & uncompassionate responses.I'm just a consumer just trying to get something fixed, not take advantage of a small business. It is obvious by the response I received with regards to the experience there that management has a chip on their shoulder from past experiences with consumers and feels that any consumer asking for a refund is out to get them.I realize in posting this that Blaine will likely post an unkind response. The customer service experience was extremely disappointing. I placed an order for window parts three months ago, but I never received an estimated delivery date.When I attempted to follow up on the order, my inquiries were consistently ignored. Calls were put on hold indefinitely without any response, and even when I tried reaching out via text, the service remained consistently poor. I strongly advise against using this service.

DO NOT PAY THIS COMPANY TO GIVE YOU AN ESTIMATE. Blaine asked for $125 to do an estimate for the repair/replacement of the sliding screen doors on my deck. They came out but I never heard from them again. I've called them several times and had to leave a voice message. No one answers the phone and no one has ever returned my call. This company is a TOTAL RIP-OFF.

I had a very disappointing experience with this company. I placed my order six weeks ago with the expectation of receiving it the following week. However, week after week, I called to inquire about my order and was repeatedly told that it would be delivered the next week. Each time, I was assured that they would notify me if it arrived early. Frustrated with the lack of progress, I decided to leave a negative review, after which they suddenly changed their tune, claiming they had always estimated a 2-3 week delivery timeframe.Six weeks have now passed, and I still haven't received my order. Even worse, they haven't refunded my money, which is deeply concerning. This behavior raises serious doubts about the legitimacy of this company and feels like a scam.On a brighter note, I ended up finding the same "custom part" on Amazon, which was not only delivered within two days but also at a slightly cheaper price. This stark difference in service and price makes me question why I ever considered this company in the first place.I strongly advise others to think twice before dealing with this company. Their lack of transparency, delayed delivery promises, and failure to issue a refund have left me with a negative impression overall.UPDATE PER THE OWNER RESPONSE:Your communication lacks veracity, as your discourse is consistently characterized by fabrications and falsehoods. Despite my weekly efforts to engage with your establishment, your representatives persisted in disseminating untruths, assuring the imminent arrival of required components, coupled with promises of timely follow-up. After enduring weeks of fruitless interactions, I ultimately relinquished my pursuit and resorted to procuring the needed items through an alternative platform, Amazon.Remarkably, in the interim, no earnest endeavor was made on your part to establish contact. Regrettably, it is now evident that the operational practices of your enterprise bear the characteristics of deception and trickery, manifesting in the flagrant disregard of commitments once made. It is regrettable to observe that your establishment appears to follow a trajectory that raises substantial questions about its ethical and operational integrity.

I've been all over Chicago and the south suburbs looking for parts for our windows. Stop in an Ace hardware, and the employee told about Blaine. He said if they don't have it, no one will. Blaine had the part, and it was in stock. I'm a coustmer for like thank you thank you

UPDATE PER THE OWNER RESPONSE:I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A QUOTE TO THIS VERY DAY. Please show me the quote. That is the reason for the issue. Slander is aggressive, I am sorry you feel that way. I would take no issue whatsoever if you had only fulfilled your promise - which I have in writing and will gladly copy to this review. $110 for a visit and to provide a quote that can then be applied to the purchase if you choose to carry through with it. We paid $110 for no quote and slim to none correspondence. There are many many other reviews very similar to mine here. I get no pleasure in taking issue with your business. I have never left a bad review in my entire life, so that must be evident how disappointing your service has been. I have a call with a supervisor at the Attorney General's office today to discuss the case. You've misled them into assuming that you actually sent over a quote, which did not happen. They mistakenly trusted your email response. I truly cannot fathom why my complaint is surprising to you. You did not do what you said you would in your very first email to us - that is all.This has been way more work for you to field these complaints than it would have been to just send a quote over in the first place, you must realize this by now.NIGHTMARE for communication - paid $110 to have them come out to quote a job for window hardware repair and NEVER received the quote. Politely asked for an update and quote repeatedly (over months and months) until I was tired of asking and saw many other negative reviews for them online - then contacted the Attorney General and am continuing communication with them until something comes of this scam. The service person came out early September 2022 - it is now June 2023 for reference - still no quote. At this point would definitely not trust them to do any work at our building even if a quote was provided. Embarrassing excuse for a business.

I was referred to contact Blaine Service & Supply by a local window and door company that could not service my needs of a replacement sliding screen door. I shared photos and information to get a quote ahead of time for my association to approve before dropping off the existing door to size and replace. I dropped off the door 5/12 and they did a wonderful job explaining to me that there was a part they may need to reuse but would clean it up for me. After some time passed, I called the shop 5/30 to check in on my order in which they told me they were a bit back logged on projects for the summer and I should expect a call soon. I didn't have any outreach so I called again 6/9 (4 weeks after the original drop off date) and they told me it would be ready the next day for pick up. When I went to get the new door, I had asked if I could get a convenance discount as it took double the amount if time to complete as stated. The response was no because my receipt had a blanket statement that said "approx 2 weeks" even though verbally I was told 2 and there wasn't anyone in the store who could approve a discount anyways. On top of this, I inspected my door and the part reused was not cleaned or touched up at all as originally promised. There was still dirt on it from the original drop off. Overall, my door looks wonderful and I am happy with the outcome of it. Blaine does do great work but could use some improvement on customer service and transparency to customers. Please be patient with them and don't be afraid to check in.

I had 6 panes of glass in my double hung windows Blaine glass gave me the best price and did a phenomenal job installing I was very pleased with their service and would recommend them highly. The seals were broken on my old window and Instead of replacing the entire window, Blaine was able to replace the glass. The entire project took less than 2 1/2 hours.

Hi (Owner) Blaine Service and SupplyTo all Blaine customers leaving a review;Please read all negative reviews.I too left a negative review, for good reason.When reading the neg reviews, I couldn’t help but chuckle.They all mimic my exact experience.Sadly (Owner) feels the need to have to justifyfor why he/she and employees NEVER return calls. Even after we all been told “someonewill call us back”It was only until I left a nasty voicemail that I received any response from this business.After 6 wks of 9 voicemails.The 10th voicemail, I had lost it!And this is the email the (owner) sent me today!“Hi Karen (& Bob)I am sure we were recommended by the door store and havebeen for a long time because we offer great service and havenever had an issue with another customer they sent our way.Yes we did say approx 2 weeks because that is pretty standardfor us. We have been making an installing these sliding screendoors over 25 years. We are aware we are slightly over 4 weeks,since the order was placed on 8-18-22 and for that we are sorrybut unfortunately Covid has messed the world up and delays onmaterial is an issue nationwide and out of our control.After your phone call and nasty comments there and in thisreview we will be happy to refund your $200 deposit. We had been having troubles with our sliding doors and didn’t want to spend a ton on someone coming out. Blaine’s came out and actually fixed our door right then and there!! The two men were super nice and quick. And the pricing was great, especially since they did it same day. So glad we called them Highly recommend!!
