I was there when they were having the big rig show there in august, but also took the time to visit and see the old historical buildings which was neat to look at what was back in the day

One has the praise the residents of little old Franklin Grove for setting aside a park where the past can be the past. I hope all the little municipalities follow its lead. Too many historic properties get bulldozed or left abandoned. these homes make entertaining parks when they're put together in these villages. You'll find the houses with their prairie parlors here. You'll find a main street with a blacksmith and a jail and a diner. And you'll find a little bit of Peace as she walks slowly up the hill. you'll find the old school still ready to teach a lesson. You'll even be lured into thinking that the flocculation pond at the water treatment plant looks beautiful.

Not huge but the buildings they have are interesting. The old salt box farmhouse and one room schoolhouse are highlights.

Chaplin Creek Historical Village is on the edge of Franklin Grove. They are run mostly on donations and are always working towards building new projects out there. Currently they are trying to raise money to build a chapel. Very relaxing and beautiful.
