We used Pawsitive Petcare a year ago for an extended overseas trip that lasted 17 days and I’m still upset about the experience. I would never use them again. And I don’t want anyone else to go thru the same. They may be fine for daily walks tho, so take my experience within that context. The young woman that Shari, the owner, had available for our two small dogs seemed very calm and confident upon meeting her. She was not particularly warm towards our dogs (or us) but seemed very capable. I was very anxious about being gone for so long so I set up a dog camera so I could check in remotely. I made the sitter aware of the camera and gave her permission to cover it up when she was in the room.In the first days it became apparent that the sitter had very unusual hours and was often not present in the house. I saw and heard my dog incessantly barking late at night and very early in the morning for hours at a time. My neighbor even texted me that she was concerned about the dogs. When I reached out to the sitter I got very little info. And then she forwarded my texts to her boss, which is fine. Shari, the owner, wrote back and basically said, “Your sitter has not done anything wrong. You said she could be gone this many hours. Your dogs bark a lot.”. I’m all for employers defending their employees, but I certainly would’ve appreciated feeling like someone was concerned about my dogs and me as a customer. Being so far away all I could do was say this was a concern for me and please try to do better. It did seem to improve, altho it may be due to the fact that there was a huge winter storm which kept everyone home for a few days.Over the course of the vacation I did not get the promised “tons of pictures and videos”. I got a handful. The Pet Cam ended up being covered most of the time so I could only hear the dogs, not see them. Our sitter was very limited in her communication. She called once to say she had locked herself out, so I had to have my sister-in-law drive over from a neighboring town on Christmas Day.Upon arriving home we walked into a boiling hot apartment. The temperature was 87 degrees and the gas fireplace had been left on! With no one home!!! I can’t imagine what this young woman was thinking. But she put everyone in my apt building at risk.I feel bad blaming this young woman who I feel is not mature or responsible enough to be staying in people's homes. I blame Shari for putting her in a situation she was not equipped to handle and for treating me, her client, as an annoyance rather than valued asset. When we returned, I sent Shari all the above information to make her aware of how bad the situation as. I NEVER GOT A RESPONSE! No “I’m sorry.” Not even “Thank you letting me know.”Lastly, my next door neighbors used this service recently and were very disappointed in their experience. they will never use them again either.

I’ve been using Pawsitive Petcare for a little more than a year - for regular daily walks for my dog, as well as dog-sitting while our family was out of town.Shari and her team have been fantastic. The walkers came every day they were requested, at exactly the time promised. My pup grew to really look forward to the visits from Garth and Joey. They gave him great walks; left appropriate notes to let us know how it went; and were responsible with our keys and our home. I never even had to worry about my dog while I was away at work - which is the real goal with this. The dog-sitting services were equally strong. The sitter would come to our house a few days before we were to leave, to review how things should go, what they needed to know (about our dog and our home), etc. Then, when the time came, they showed up as promised - sending photo’s of our dog and sharing update notes each day. It was comforting to know that our dog was being well-taken care of.Finally, whenever I reached out to Shari with a new need, or a change of schedule, or a question of any type - she not only responded super-promptly, but was always consistently accommodating. Super-easy to deal with.I could not have been more pleased with Pawsitive Petcare. — Evan

Shari and the our dog walker have been wonderful to work with. They are very responsive to changes in my schedule. Our dog walker is wonderful with our dog, communicates any concerns or issues and responds right away to questions. I have never worked with a dog walking service before and was anxious to start but Shari and her team have put me at ease, take wonderful care of our dog and are always able to help out with last minute needs and changes. I highly recommend them.

If you're looking for a place that treats your furry family member like their own, look no further. Their commitment to accommodating our sometimes unconventional drop-off and pick-up times has been a game-changer, and their extraordinary service and unshakable commitment to the well-being of our puppy has been invaluable to us.

We love Pawsitive Petcare!Shari and her team do an excellent job at taking care of our pup. Our dog walker, Eli, is so caring and always leaves sweet notes about the day's walk. They have been such a great help to us as my husband and I often work crazy hours. They are flexible to our changing needs and they also offer overnight sitting! This has been such a relief to us when we go out of town as our dog has had major anxiety with any boarding places or doggy day cares. Their pricing is transparent and their policies are fair. I would highly recommend Pawsitive Petcare for anyone looking for a dog walker or dog sitter in Evanston.

We have used Pawsitive Petcare for a few years now and have been consistently happy with their services. We've had two dog walkers in that time and both have been very sweet and patient with our senior dog. Scheduling and payments is a breeze too. Highly recommend.

This review is about the customer service, not the petcare. We booked a daily dog walk and morning feeding of 3 animals for 5 days but had to cancel. I gave 2 days notice and asked what the cancellation fee was, without checking the website. We were busy dealing with an emergency and I was canceling the flights and petcare. I paid the $70 immediately but later thought it seemed high. That $70 was the total cost for our entire service. When I asked Shari to consider refunding some, since their website says - "Cancellations Walks and Fee - Walks can be cancelled, but will need to be cancelled before 9 a.m. the day of the walk. Please text or call Shari on 847 636 8796 or Darren on 773 484 7495. You can also e-mail at
[email protected] If walks are cancelled after 9 a.m. you will need to pay the rate of the walk. Cancellations of Overnight Sittings Fee - It is best to make sure you need an overnight sitting prior to ordering it. If you need to cancel, give us as much notice as possible. If the notice is less 7 days notice, you will owe the cost of 2 nights for the sitting. " Shari was polite but not logical in her reply. No refund was offered. Their petcare is probably great. But, can you guarantee that your trip will not be cancelled? Then don't use Pawsitive Petcare or you'll end up paying anyway.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Shari and Pawsitive Petcare. I have used their services for at least several years. Shari does a great job vetting her dog walkers as they have all been friendly and responsible. More importantly, Barney has taken to them! I would totally recommend them.

Since finding Pawsitive Pet care approx. 5 years ago, their walkers have been consistent, timely and reliable. My dog, who is generally afraid of people, warmed up to the walkers in no time - which indicated their kind treatment to her while on walks. I highly recommended this service.-Wendy’s Owner

We had never used to dog walking service before and weren’t sure what to expect. We were especially worried that our two dogs wouldn’t adjust to a stranger coming into the house to take them out. As it turns out, we had nothing to worry about. Our walker, Ben, is great. Our dogs are thrilled when he arrives. Also, everything is super easy with scheduling and paying online.
