This is a poorly managed local grocery store. There have been multiple occasions now where I’ve noticed rotten items in the isles from fruits, bakery items, and etc. Have brought these encounters up to the managers a few times now and there seems to be no improvement. You should be able to trust places where you go and purchase food for yourself, children, parents, grandparents, etc. Do better!

It's an alright grocery store. Kinda dark and vaguely depressing, as it's been for the last 30 years, but they're open until midnight, and there's really nothing wrong with it.

I work in the Evanston area and I sometimes buy groceries from the Jewel on Chicago avenue. I’ve noticed I’m followed by a white male working that sometimes works in the stand by the self check out. Today while I was checking out at the self check , he rushes from the stand , stands a foot from me while I’m checking out and paying with my credit. As I take my receipt he brushes by me. For me this is a clear cut example of racial profiling and intimidation. I will be contacting the corporate office concerning my experience.

Store selection is good. One of the few places that sells Grits in 5 pound bags. Unfortunately, there are constantly people begging outside the store. In fact today one such person spat towards me in the middle of an unintelligble rant even though I had not spoken a single word to him. Very discouraging!

80 per cent of the staff look like they hate their job every second of their time there, and when asked for help, irritability and impatience is obvious. Outside of this, it's a good store with nice deals and decent selection. Great experience, as long as you don't have to interact with the staff
