Friend of mine had major back surgery. Doctor prescribed OxyContin because of the severity of pain. Allegedly, the pharmacy doesn’t carry it and claimed it is on back order. I was told it is on back order. I asked how long before it is delivered. I was told a week, which of course won’t do my friend any good. I understand that there is an opioid pandemic but when someone is in need of pain medication and can’t receive it is no longer an inconvenience, it’s a tragedy. I’m going to make the assumption that this particular pharmacy does not want to deal with controlled substances because of possible risks. If so, shame on you. I won’t support a pharmacy that refuses to fill a prescription ordered by a doctor. I and you should walk up the street a few blocks and choose a different pharmacy.

Recently moved to Evanston from Florida and shopped at Publix which are always incredibly clean and have the absolute most helpful and professional staff. This place from the start the time you enter until you leave horrible. Start off with bums always at the front door begging which as a customer I find very uncomfortable. Then you step inside to the coldest grocery store I have ever been in. Every employee is wearing a heavy jacket it is easily some where around 50 something degrees. I spoke to someone at customer service they blamed the freezers, every grocery store has freezers and it's not this cold inside. Sounds like an extremely inefficient way to operate. Most of the time the Apple Pay doesn't work I go to the other Jewel on Howard and they work and it's also not 50 ish degrees inside just this one on Chicago Ave. I seriously doubt my review will make any impact as I see numerous really bad reviews. I will ship elsewhere for now on as I do not foresee any changes being made here and I am tired of being frustrated every time I shop in this dump.

This jewel needs to fire Asfar Uladdin. He harasses black customers by following them around. He never asks if assistance is needed and just stares at you when you're in the self check out. I had run ins with him before and reported his behavior to the manager. The manager said he'll speak with him. Today, while I was shopping for Mother's Day, he left the self check out area where there are 5 registers just to walk behind me in the flower area. I really hope Jewel see this review because I been shopping here since 2015: way before he started working this location. He needs to go period.

This place is pretty abysmal all around. Aside from the fact that their prices are considerably higher than everywhere else nearby, the customer service is very rough. Today I was looking for miso paste and asked an employee where to find it because the shelf it should have been on was full of chips. First he pointed me to the toothpaste aisle, then just said he didn't know. I had to press a few more times to get him to ask someone else. I followed him to hiw coworker/manager and when I got there could hear him saying "I don't even know what she wants" while they both laughed. The manager continued to walk past me while saying "it's in the Asian aisle or it's not there." The whole interaction was extremely dismissive and just proved again why Jewel is typically my last resort. They wouldn't give me the time of day and made no effort to at least look into whether or not they had what I was looking for. Save yourself the frustration and go across the street to Trader Joe's.

Seems to be a nice supermarket in the neighborhood, i was there on a Thursday afternoon, not much people there. I used the self check out, easy, the most impressive thing to me is their plastic shopping bag, very thick and seems very good quality. I never seen such thick plastic bag in a supermarket. That's great!

This is an awful, disgusting store. Bare shelves. Dirty floors. Staff who always seem to be annoyed that there are customers in the store. You’ll also be accosted by several panhandlers on your way in and out and sometimes inside the store!

When they have the fresh and ripe cut watermelon, it's the best. The clear containers help you tell. Plus I use the containers as saucers for my plant pots. The selection is good and the staff are friendly.

This is the worst Jewel I have ever encountered! I believe there is no store manager. They almost never change sale prices on Wednesdays so I caution shoppers to note expired tags and while I am at check freshness dates! I have found some 2 months old! When you enter there is a sign "no panhandling " there is a gauntlet of them day or night! Avoid at your cost and health! Staff are in charge!

Corporate seems to have forgotten about this store. They are so neglected. Ironically, there are so many people who work there going above and beyond. Reggie is amazing. One of the hardest working young men I've had the good fortunate to deal with. If it weren't for Reggie and some of the people like him, I'd be at Trader Joe's right across the street. They never have the same sort of negligence jewel does. The jewel a coupe of miles away is a super star. I don't get it. I have seen this Jewel without the proper refrigeration, not to mention that they never have the same quality of food as neighboring Jewels. I also tried to use the Jewel app on my phone to pay, but they aren't set up to do that. When I called customer service, I was told she would send an email. Since I couldn't wait, I drove to the Jewel in Winnetka and had no problem at all. It confuses me as a Jewel customer why there is such a huge discrepancy
