This update is based on my experience buying wood trim for a project: they have a great selection, and unlike my experience at Lowe's in Lincolnwood, their website is actually accurate and tells you which aisle/bin the item is in (see my Lowe's review for that cluster of a mess). I found what I needed, and they have a sawhorse set up so you can cut trim yourself -- I was surprised that they even had a miter box, as I thought that wasn't something they offered to avoid having people doing their full project cutting in the store. I needed to miter the pieces for my project, but I didn't know the exact measurements and had never used a miter box before, so I didn't want to embarrass myself trying to figure it out at 7am on Christmas Eve in the middle of a Home Depot. So instead I just cut the trim to the approximate sizes I needed with some wiggle room to measure it exactly later, and managed to figure out how to use a miter box at home after watching a Youtube tutorial. So, yay for that. Also after my adventures in elementary woodworking (lol), I needed wood filler/putty because the miter saw I was using was like 20 years old and not the most precise. Their website said they didn't carry the kind/stain shade I was looking for, but when I got there the day after Christmas, they did indeed have it. So, that was perfect. And now I have an awesome, handbuilt coffee table. About 5 years ago I also needed a random 1x4 (or maybe 1x6?) for a single shelf to fill the gap between my fridge and my wall, and one of their staff members used the power saw setup to cut that for me. That was also an easy peasy process. For my future random wood project needs, I'll definitely come here rather than Lowe's.

Rented a van the associate just opened the doors and said the is no garbage we expect it back the same way. I drove off thought nothing of it. When I got to my destination and started loading merchandise I realized there was oil all over the floor and on the back step. I was 4 hours away. Couldn't just turn around and get another one. I had to load my boxes like that and they all got wet with oil. When I spoke to the manager he said he would look into it and call me back. Finally after a few days he said the operations manager wouldn't do anything about it since I signed and received the van that way. Then I called her directly and she just said the same thing. I signed and it's my fault for not rubbing my fingers on the floor to check it was clean. (Obviously I added the rubbing)WOW GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE...Please note the sarcasm. This was my first rental. Too bad for Home DepotI'm never renting or buying anything from them again.Next stop... Lowes.

Today is February 21, an inportant fact.I ordered a Bosch 500 series dishwasher, including installation and haul-away, on December 3rd. The dishwasher was delivered and installed. The installer started a cycle, pronounced it complete, and left. There were no dishes in the dishwasher, and the cycle completed. The next day I ran a half-load. I received an E:24 error (failure to drain). I read the manual. I followed all steps. I did note that the installer had left styrofoam pieces in the dishwasher, and fished them out. I re-set the dishwasher and ran it again, Same E:24 error. After several attempts to fix I called Evanston Home Depot and was given the Bosch "help line". After waiting on hold for over an hour TWICE, I fanally connected and was told to read the manual. I explained I had read it, and was unable to get it to run, that it was under warranty AND I had purchased the option Bosch service agreement!. I was provided two numbers of local service providers. I called both, left messages multiple times, and was never called back. I again called Home Depot, who sent our their repair person on January 06. he blew out the line, ran it for 10 minutes and pronounced it "fixed". He told me I should have purchased the Home Depot service agreement rather than the Bosch agreement. THEN I would have "no problem". He left. The cycle never completed. Again, I received an E:24 error. We again called the help line and were given to the local Bosch service provider (Lakeview Appliance). They sent out a repair person around January 18, who said it was a broken part. It needed to be ordered, and that it would take about 7 -10 days. After 2 weeks of hearing nothing, we called Lakeview. We were told the part was showing received, but not in their posession. We were told the same the following week. We then called the Bosch help line. We spoke to a very helpful woman who called Lakeview on another line, while we were on hold. Miraculously, Lakeview called back on the house line, and said that they had the part, that the issue was actually a sick employee, and that they would be out to repair the machine the following Tuesday (February 14, Valentines Day) between the hours of 12 and 3. At 9:00 AM on February 14 we received a call saying the service technician was sick, and that they would have to re-schedule to February 21, again, between the hours of 12 and 3. Today, February 21 we received a call at 8:30 AM saying they would have to reschedule to February 27. Again, it was a "sick technician". We were then told ther was only one service techician that could service this unit in oir territory, Seriously, one tech in Chicago?? One techician?? After some raised voices on our end we received a call back saying thay would be tomorrow, January 22 between 8 and 11 AM.Frankly, I don't believe it will happen. I have had to rearrange my schedule 4 times to meet service people. Its been exactly 80 days (!) after giving Home Depot my full payment and I have still have no working dishwasher.Ultimately, I blame Home Depot. They sold me a defective product. They have offered literally NO SUPPORT except to provide phone numbers and send out unskilled technicians. I have attempted to speak to Home Depot department managers and the store manager with absolutely no success. The level of service is unequivocally the worst I have received from any retailer. Every time I see TV commercial advertising appliance sales or Home Depot service teams I cringe. They never stood by their product. they never offered to replace it even after it was found to be defective.Use ABT. Use Lowes. Use Best Buy. Use ANY retailer except Home Depot.I bought Bosch because I had a Bosch dishwasher I replaced it only because it was begining to show its age (8 years). But it still ran. I also read Consumer Reports excellent review of Bosch dishwashers before I purchased. I have no real problem with Bosch itself. But in the retailer (Home Depot) and service team (Lakeview Appliance) they have an incompetent retailer and a lying, incompetent

I had a great experience at the garden center today! Everything was so healthy and beautifully organized! It was a joy to shop. One of the associates told me that a new person is heading up the plant area. We'll he is doing a phenomenal job! I'm telling my friends and I will be returning! Thank you!

Had the most amazing experience yesterday at Home Depot.I was working on a little DIY project for the home and needed advice on lumber and how to achiever the desired results.I went to the lumber area and the man working there at 1:00PM was the most knowledgeable and helpful I've ever experienced. He helped me pick out the least expensive 2 x4s and a piece of plywood and then gave me much needed advice on how to accomplish the project using only the one piece of plywood, cut all the wood to the correct size and then even walked me over to the hardware area to get the correct drill bit, bolts & nuts.Once home every thing was cut perfectly and the project was accomplished with only one trip to Home Depot.... that has to be a record!!

Joe helped me make a TON of keys for my store. He was patient with me even though I came in around closing time. We had a great conversation while he diligently made sure every key was a perfect match. And although our meeting was brief, I can say that he is a true testament that there are still kind people in this chaotic world. He is a very valuable employee and should be the model for this company on superb customer service. Thanks for all your help Joe!

They were really cool, upon my return. Return of myself and products that is:- I returned to The Home Depot to literally return (2) two items that were purchased for an plumbing sink replacement part for my Mom's crib (house) that were not needed, nor used, nor the right size. We Could Not Find the Receipt of the (2) two plumbing items. I thought well, so I can do right by my Momma and the crib, let me take the (2) 'dos' items with the exact credit card used for the purchase and SPLASH ON SOME OLD-SCHOOL = DRAKKAR NOIR EAU DE TOILETTE vaporisateur spray by Guy LaRouche from PARIS and maybe, with hope and skills i will not need the receipt. As you have it with The Home Depot respected my smile, scent and skills; allowing me to get the return for my momma without the receipt. She did not believe till I showed here the refund printed receipt the Lady at customer service said I better take as proof to my momma. She was nicety she even wrote her mobile phone number with her name and a smile on the receipts bill of fare. I was happy, she was and so was momma.

Purchased a Samsung top load washer, with installation and haul away. First delivery attempt, said that the water hook ups were too corroded, after I fixed those, installation was rescheduled.20 hours before rescheduled delivery and installation, they cancelled my order without my consent. I was told to re-order the washer, pay again and wait for a refund. When the washer finally arrived they told me that the new washer's drain hose is too short and refused to install it, but kept the $29 installation fee. They didn't even put it in place and level it, they just dumped it in the middle of the laundry room, handed me the hoses, and left.Worst major appliance purchase ever!

Home Depot took measurement for vinyl flooring installation on 6/15. Received estimate on 6/18. Received a revised estimate (increased $2,146 on 7/1). I also received a phone call from Leslie at the Evanston store who said Home Depot could not do the install because the subfloor, and maybe the floor under it, would have to be removed due to the floor not being level. Why did it take them 2 weeks for HD to figure this out?

Just waited on hold 11 minutes to discuss a truck rental. And when I got a rep Larry he talked down to me, over me, and aggressively. I immediately informed him I would not do business with this location. I am calling Menards hoping that you feel the pain on your next quarterly income statement

This is a complaint toward one employee at the registers who spent a long time chatting with the customer ahead of us in line (there were people behind me). All along I thought she was waiting for a price check or something because she was on a screen where something needed to be entered. Then I realized she just needed the man's name or something and they still didn't hurry it up seeing others were in line and I asked that they please move along because more customers were waiting. And, instead of apologizing or anything of the sort, this employee tells me they (Home Depot) should really open up another lane for cash, when all along the issue is that she was gossiping with the customer and not that she was busy.
