“My new kitchen island! We live in a small apartment, with very little counter space. This gives me the perfect amount of extra room for food prep. The craftmanship is amazing. I will definitely keep Plain and Simple in mind for when we need other pieces of furniture.”

“Nice place with lots of options from food to furniture and almost everything in between. I took one star off because a lot of the items seemed a bit costly so shop wisely.”

“Stopped in while visiting the area and it was a pleasant experience. Bill is friendly, welcoming, and knowledgable of the pieces at the shop. We will definitely be looking out for items on the Instagram page.”

“I have bought my futons here since 2001, and Avis and the rest of the staff are fantastic! Great beds, covers and prices. Run don't walk for your next good night's sleep!”

“Long-time happy customer here! I've gotten several bookcases from 57th Street Bookcase over the years, both stock and custom-made. They're beautiful, solid and well-built, and for the ones that were large enough to need delivery and installation help the installation experience was great (everyone was on-time, professional, etc). I'll attach photos of a couple of them here.”

“The kindest owner and most beautiful cards and items. I come to Evanston specifically to come to this shop! Mini cards, kitras glass items, and really lovely lawn ceramics.”

“The Evanston Target on Sherman is clean, well organized, and opens early at 7 am during the week. The staff are friendly, courteous, helpful and are efficient in quickly ringing up purchases.”

“This Target is smaller but has everything a college kid would need! Easy to maneuver thru and has a CVS pharmacy inside. Closest place for Northwestern students (20 min walk in good weather) to get snacks and food at outside of Whole Foods. Has NU gear as well.”

“My visits to the Target store in Evanston have been a regular occurrence, spanning a handful of times each year. I typically purchase a variety of items, including home products, groceries, and pharmacy goods. Over time, I've noticed a concerning trend in the home products section. While the prices have seen an increase, the quality seems to have deteriorated. Collections from popular brands like Threshold, Studio McGee, and Magnolia Home appear to be egregiously overpriced, with the added downside of not living up to the expected quality. This raises questions about the long-term sustainability of such purchases, as they may end up in landfills sooner than anticipated. As a result of the observed decline in quality and increase in prices, I have significantly limited my purchases to inexpensive picture frames for gallery walls. This reflects a conscious decision to focus on more budget-friendly options. On a positive note, my recent online order for Valentine's Day seasonal decorations was a smooth experience. The convenience of placing an order online and opting for curbside pickup was appreciated. However, this positive experience was slightly marred by receiving a chipped ceramic item. Despite the inconvenience of having to return a damaged item, the staff at the Evanston Target made the process quick and easy. The curbside pickup exchange was hassle-free, with no wait time. This positive aspect of the return experience contributed to a more favorable impression. While the Target store in Evanston has both positive and negative aspects, there is room for improvement, particularly in addressing the pricing and quality concerns within the home products section. The convenience of online ordering and efficient return processes adds a layer of customer satisfaction, but maintaining product quality remains crucial for long-term customer loyalty.”

“Target did a remodel of many of their stores in recent years and this was one of them; the place is spiffed up. They have the Ulta makeup partnership here in this store. They also apparently let you do drive up for groceries? That surprised me because the store I usually go to doesn't seem to. When I entered there was an area they made to the right for pickup orders and in that section was some upright coolers with the cold items in them. That was cool and good to know if I need that at some point.Staff were friendly. They took my Similac coupon even though one of the employees thought they weren't taking coupons.”

“A cream-puff visionary of amazing home decor and furnishings, much of which has a history and a delightful story to tell. What's cool about Ad Hoc Home is they incorporate designers without established shops within the confines of Ad Hoc, which makes a wonderful place to gather ideas, decorate ones own home or marvel at the locally sourced and sustainable furnishings that are made using unimaginable products that were almost resorted to waste. Chicago Salvage Works displays some of their best here, as do many other quality home decor and furniture producers. A feast for the eyes in beauty overload. Much is a tad pricey, yet all appears to be top quality.”
