GO TO U-HAUL INSTEAD. Horrible horrible experience, showed up and no one was at the front desk, our storage unit was locked shut by an iStorage lock and no one was in the facility to open it. We bumped into another customer who said he had been trying to call about his own unit for weeks with no response. We tried calling ourselves for hours with no response. We opened the unlocked unit next to ours thinking we could maybe use it if it was empty only to find a DEAD RAT. Called to get a refund and cancel our account and were told the account could only be cancelled by the manager of the Evanston facility, who clearly isn’t there. Therefore, I was just charged with an $110 late fee, and was emailed saying more fees would follow if we didn’t pay. Ended up going to U-Haul where we were treated exceptionally. Go to U-Haul!

The gate was broken when I tried to move out so I had to use the font door which was much more difficult. The dollies/carts are hard to locate. The doors are often propped open which is both a security risk and I am sure effects the temperature control. lastly, if you are a woman going solo I would avoid because it does not feel safe. I have never seen anyone working in the office and even during the day there is minimal traffic at the facility. The only plus sides are its clean and easy and not too expensive.

When signing up for my unit I was told I would have a free month of rent then immediately charged. When I moved into my unit there was a strong smell of animal pee. There also was no roof over my unit. I moved out of my unit recently and all of my items were covered in rat poop and animal pee (rat I believe). On top of that I was double charged for months. I called and they told me they weren’t double charging me. My bank had to get involved for them to stop charging me double. There was also a mysterious charge that appeared every month. I believe this was my lock but that was supposed to be a one time payment. They’ve made no effort to refund or apologize for any of these mysterious charges and for my stuff that has been ruined.

Denzel who works this location has been incredibly responsive and supportive which is greatly appreciated. Before Denzel was hired in this position I could never get anyone on the phone and no one ever seemed to be in office. Thank you for your time and attention Denzel!

We had a really awesome experience working with Denzel, the new manager! He was very friendly and walked us through each step of finding and using the storage unit and figuring out payment options. It was our first time using a storage service, and the experience was so good that it looks like this will become our usual spot. The storage units are nicely laid out and easy to find. Things could be a bit cleaner, but it was all satisfactory.
