Hey! Please please set up a system for all grooming services? I always have a hard time getting my pup in for a nail trim - I get it’s not the main act but it’s important to me to have her in and get it done. The first time I came in I was told groomer was there but it’s call ahead / walk in and 15 mins notice is preferred so we went home untrimmed. Since then we always call and our calls frequently go to voicemail. Today I called and no answer so I stopped in (expecting to wait since we didn’t get a phone confirmation) and was told it would be about 40 minutes, I was happy to wait! I checked my phone for the time so I could get back on time and proceeded to take my dog for a walk. I came back 45 minutes later so I was late by 5 minutes when I was told he waited 55 minutes and had to leave.I am a bit frustrated that in the 3 times we have been that nail clippings aren’t scheduled, and these little miscommunications have happened a couple times now leading us to go a long time between appointments when it doesn’t work out. I really liked my experience with the groomer himself, so kind and does wonderful. I get nail clipping is not as long as a full grooming but would appreciate if our time was valued more. I plan to get her nail care else where from now on unless you would be willing to have a virtual wait list, appointments, etc… some sort of commitment and system for nail trims would be greatly appreciated.

The staff at the Evanston Bentley's is always super friendly and helpful! James, the groomer, is so sweet and gentle with my anxious senior dog. She always leaves fresh as a daisy, soft, fluffy, and calm. Thanks guys! Pixie and I are so grateful for you! :)

I didn't even purchase anything on this visit, I just popped in shortly to spend a moment the other day while waiting for an appointment nearby, but I had to write a review to say I was so wonderfully happy to see that both members of staff in the store when I was in were wearing quality N95 masks! I will absolutely be back when I'm actually shopping, I try to support businesses that actually try to keep their community safe in an ongoing pandemic, especially since we are in another surge right now with hardly a mask in sight, I've mostly been purchasing pet food online because I avoid going into stores where I don't feel safe and it's lovely to see I have an in person option here.Update on 10/22/23I tried to go back the other day and staff were no longer masking so I left immediately. Another disabled friend who I had mentioned the experience to told me she heard they fired the manager of this location who was immunocompromised and the reason this store took Covid precautions. I'm truly appalled and will never give my business to a transparently ableist business again.

Horrible employees... lazy and rude... trying to wash my dog but somehow their self washing station is never working when I call ... strange

Love the store. Love the staff. I know it's a franchise but it's a local owner. It's expensive but they have what I need and they provide curbside service and a points / rewards system so I do get value for being a frequent buyer. Staff are all pet lovers and many of them have side businesses as pet sitters/walkers. The groomer is great!

They have a new groomer, James, who is awesome. Fantastic with your pooch. Your dog will come out smelling and looking great. I highly recommend James over at the Evanston location!

I recently stopped in to Bentley's in desperation because my 2 year old Pug had been having digestive issues even though I was feeding him the dog food my Vet recommended. Additionally, he had begun to gain quite a bit of weight. I was surprised by the large selection of dog foods and the variety of types of food (wet, dry, frozen, etc). However, most important was the competent, professional (yet friendly) clerk who assisted me. Amet (the clerk) knew exactly what was in the dog food I was currently using even though they do not sell it at Bentley's. She asked about a number of other aspects of my feeding routine, and then gave me large samples of 3 different brands of dog food to try with my Pug. She was very interested in my situation and knowledgeable about the ingredients in a dizzying array of dog foods. She made all the information manageable. I am happy to say it's been a few weeks since my initial visit and my Pug's digestive issues have improved dramatically. The samples were really helpful because it turned out that he really disliked one of them (I have never known a Pug to reject any type of food). It would have been a disastrous problem if I had purchased an entire bag of the food and he didn't like it. Really, the samples and knowledgeable staff set Bentley's apart from most fancy pet shops. They are very serious about dog food! And the staff can't be beat in terms of knowledge, interest, and friendly helpful attitude.

It's a small store but you can find some things that other places don't sell. I sometimes buy peacock feathers for my cats to play with. The store costs are average or more and they sell only higher quality merchandise. If you are looking for Purina products, don't come here.
