This was the worst car buying experience I have ever had. The sales staff I worked with was very nice. I was purchasing a vehicle with 22 miles on it, it was sitting on the showroom floor. Most of the deal had been done via phone and I sat, waiting for the paperwork to sign for approximately 4 hours and they had only one other customer. At various times I would ask if we were close and I was told each time the delay was because they were busy. When I finally was able to sign I pointed out the wrong address was placed on my paperwork and the finance dept did not want to correct it, I assume because it was past 9 pm by then. They said it didn't matter. Once I was able to sign and drive out of the garage, I learned that the steering wheel adjustments would not work. Two different salesmen came out and were yanking and pulling on the steering wheel to the point I told them to leave it alone. I was told there was nothing I could do that night (service was closed, so that made sense) and would need to drive the two and a half hour round trip back there to get it evaluated. I instead made the service appointment in Naperville which went very well. After two weeks I hadn't received my account or payment information. I called Elgin VW twice over 10 days to speak with finance to get the information. Both times I was told they were busy and that they would call me back. I did not receive a call from them. I contacted customer service who advised me to call the dealership, when I explained what happened they indicated they would have the dealership call me. I ended up going back and forth with customer service via email and X as well as a couple phone calls, Elgin VW never called and customer service advised they could not provide my with my payment information. I purchased the vehicle the last week of October and finally got my account information the first week of December after spending over an hour on the phone that day and an untold number of hours over the five weeks in prior attempts. Once the paperwork was signed and the car was purchased, it seemed no one from Elgin VW lifted a finger to help me. At no point was I ever rude or disrespectful to anyone that I dealt with. The folks on the phone have nothing to do with any of the issues I experienced. Things happen, mistakes happen, that is how life goes. This experience was something completely different. I have never experienced worse service anywhere much less having the experience continue over the course of weeks. I love the vehicle but regret, fully, going to Elgin VW to make my purchase. The entire experience was a complete disappointment.

Drove almost an hour away here to possibly trade in my lease early and to test drive a used car. There were a lot of issues with my lender that made the sales staff go through more hoops than they had to but they were persistent and went out of their way to get me in my car and at the price I was comfortable with. You don't get this kinda of service anywhere. Tom Ibrahim & Adnan Hebibovic took my experience above and beyond my expectations. The only downside of my experience is that they denied my offer of buying them a drink. It is what it is I guess. Thanks again guys, you guys really were awesome!!

I bought a 2021 Atlas from them over a year ago and the maintenance care package that I pay for monthly. I bought this package bc I am not car savvy and want it to be taken care of regularly. The package is for every 10,000 miles or when it's due for an oil change. They are supposed to do a full check of my Truck and the past few times, they didn't even point out things that even I noticed. As someone that doesn't know the ins n outs of a car, I have to trust they are doing a full inspection of my car. My last 2 visits I needed a tire rotation and alignment and the check engine came on and when I left nothing was done both times or even mentioned. I had to finally make a specific appointment for those things and they said I was just now out of warranty and should have gotten my tired rotated 30k miles prior. We asked why it was never addressed and they had no answer. The guy was new and not helpful at all. They didn't even offer a discount or solution as to why all these things weren't done or how to get it fixed. Poor service, IDK why I pay for this package if all they are going to do is an oil change and terrible car wash, that is always half done. I feel I am being taken advantage of because they assume a Woman wouldn't know the difference! I will not going back to buy a car from them in the future.

My experience has been exceptional so far! I purchased my Tiguan in 2012 at the Chicago Downtown location. Unfortunately, my service experience has been less than great. Elgin was able to get me in, drive me to my destination while I waited for the inspection, and give me a loaner. I've never received a quote for what, actually, only needed to be done to remedy the service light. There's always a few thousand more tacked on. Roberto has been excellent to work with and Alejandro was very nice driving me. It's an hour each way, but this will be my new service location!

Great experience!!! The dealership is very clean and modern. Staff is very friendly and personable. Anthony was very kind and polite and kept me updated on the status of the vehicle. Will definitely continue to give them my business and refer them to friends and family.

I got a great deal on my car but that was about it! Left the dealership with a new 2023 Tiguan with a totally empty gas tank. My plates were transferred to my new car. 6 weeks later, I received a temporary plate to place in my window because plates can't be transferred on lease vehicles. Nice! I was driving around with invalid plates. Then I was told to pick something from their VW accessories. Requested a hoodie that I never received. If this is how they keep their customers happy, I will purchase in my state of Wisconsin.

We recently purchased a 2023 VW Tiguan @ VW Elgin. The experience from start to finish (which was after hours) was exemplary. From the Sales Manager Ernie, who started us off, to Samuel our Sales Person, who took over and comes highly recommended, to Rayan the Finance Manager and is also highly recommended, all were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. They all made this car buying experience a once in a lifetime adventure. We love our car, even though we're still trying to figure out some of the functions and buttons and may come in to see you on that, Sam. Thank you all friends! Absolutely the worst dealership experience I have ever had dropped my car off for some warranty work was told by one service advisor that it would only take four hours then when I called to verify my appointments I was told by another service advisor that the warranty work would take all day then received a call at 4:30 in the afternoon that hey we need to keep the car overnight I would've liked to been informed that it would have to be an overnight thing. Then to come and pick up the car and the part it had to stay in overnight for and get repaired (it was a side skirt) looks EXACTLY the same as when I dropped it off. The service writers excuse......the car is bent. Your a dealership bringing in thousands of dollars a month in repairs and you couldn't make a PLASTIC SIDE SKIRT FIT RIGHT. by the way spent 5 minutes in my rainy driveway removed 1 5.5 mm bolt and the side skirt sat how it was supposed too. ONE BOLT I was out of a car for two days and I fixed it my driveway in 5 minutes. If that doesn't say something about the competence of this dealer I don't know what does. (Edit) totally forgot too they did an alignment in October still pulled hard left and drove exactly the way it did when I dropped it off and when I asked for the alignment print out I was told there wasn't one. Every alignment I've ever done I've handed the print out over. But mine was just no where to be found I guess. Seems kinda suspicious that the car drove exactly the same and the one piece of paper that shows the customer that any work was done was just no where to be found

Business owner never called as promised, then wrote a B.S. reply that there was a 2 year expiration date. The credit was issued with no expiration because they charged VW for the full 500.00 at the time. Please ask yourself if you trust a dealer who doesn't even have enough respect to return a phone call as promised. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

Bait and switch service. Yesterday I got a coupon for a $79.00 full synthetic oil change. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. I was told it would be $113.00 and I mentioned the coupon. I was told that was for most models, just not mine. The service manager explained that the coupon was for up to 5 quarts of synthetic and mine took 6. I told him to put 5 quarts in and I would add the 6th. That's $33.00 for a quart of oil! That's bait and switch.

If you are looking to purchase a vehicle go see Bud he is probably one of the best salesman I have dealt with in a long time. I absolutely hate purchasing cars I hate dealing with car salesmen that are over aggressive.. he made it such a pleasant experience and such a relaxing experience... And we ended up purchasing a vehicle and are extremely happy with it thank you so much Bud we appreciate you.....

An absolute waste of time. We had an appointment to come out and see the car and were extremely disappointed to hear that the car was sold. We understand that we didn't reserve the car, but a call or a courtesy email to let us know the car is sold before driving over an hour from Chicago would have been appreciated. Instead of getting a confirmation email an hour before the appointment. No respect for peoples time and they didn't even apologize for the mess up

We are new customers of Elgin VW and have had a great experience. Very low pressure and willing to make a deal happen. We have already purchased one car and have a second one (the new EV) reserved for the Fall. Looking forward to many years of service close to home.

We went and had every intention to take our business to them yet it seemed like this was one of the most difficult struggles to even be acknowledged. To be fair, when we first arrived, we asked for privacy as we know how car sales people can be quite pushy. They respected that. However, as we developed a rapport it was clear and obvious we wanted to go further with specific models. Deposit was left and we waited, and waited for some sort of response. Once we heard from them, we went and inspected a model requested. We began the "negotiations" but it was met with a confusing reply and basically a no. We thought we would get a counter offer of some sort but nothing. We had to finally ask them what would be their bottom line, but it felt like we had to initiate this. I just never thought that we would have to do all the work to get things going, it felt like we had to earn their business rather than the other way around. I suspect that the breakdown/ miscommunication may have occurred between sales rep and manager. Either way we felt undeserving of their business.
