This is the most over-priced and dishonest vet hospital I have ever encountered. If you consider finding a new hospital for your pet. STAY AWAY !!! The vet refused to refill medicine, asked a regular check up, one visit costed $693.80. 10 minutes 'conversation' cost $198. Two test cost 10% more in 7 month (one done in January, the other in September).** They charged $238 for Internal Medicine Consultation (for a 20 - 25 minutes visit) in 2023 January. Update: For the visit on 9/6/2023, they charged $198 for a ten minutes "how is your pet doing" conversation. The internal medicine doctor suggested us use medicine for problems not even diagnosed. The medicine she suggested is "essentially vitamins".** Blood pressure test costed $56 in 2023 January. Update: For the visit on 9/6/2023, the same test went up to $61.25 - no explanation why it is ordered, they just took our cat, went to the back room, did it, and billed us. 7 month price increase: 10%.** Thyroid test costed $400.15 in 2023 January. Update: For the visit on 9/6/2023, the same test went up to $434.55 - no explanation why a full panel blood work is ordered. 7 month price increase: 9%.Called the vet, asked why their practice is so different from other vet hospital (no explanation about why certain tests are done, options, etc.), one staff informed that this is how it is done in the VCA Arboretum View Animal Hospital.Strongly advise everyone to avoid this vet. No transparency, no integrity. This place's sole purpose is to maximize profit.

I have had dogs for 68 years and this establishments is the worst in all aspects. I now see why they had signs posted not to abuse the staff because they are so inept . It’s all about the money to them and not the pet. Stay away, I would drive out of state rather then have their run around. It took 3 hours for them to evaluate my dog acl and pushed us out the door after paying $486 for that and when I called back to set up surgery they said We have to bring her back for another evaluation by the surgeon. The dog is suffering. The charged me for sedation so they could take some imaging but never did any!

Didn't have adequate workers to help a bigger dog in the hospital, I my self had to pick my dog up to get him in the doors, and they diagnosed my boy with out any X-rays didn't do nothing but move him and drag his paws when we left two hours later after diagnosis

UPDATE:I contacted the email address they provided in their response to discuss my concerns further… no response 7 days later. Kind of pathetic they have a designated email to yield dissatisfied reviews. Tells you everything you need to know about this place.REVIEW: I am sick to be writing this review, but I truly believe VCA’s awful care and treatment of our dog led to his death. Our dog was diagnosed with bladder & prostate cancer in August 2023, we immediately began chemo therapy through VCA under the impression we were in good hands. We switched our dog’s diet to a high quality human-grade food, immediately started incorporating natural supplements, NSAIDs, probiotics, etc and amazingly our dog began thriving for 6 months, showing more energy, going on mile + walks daily. It was great to see, although not without difficulties from VCA. At one point we received miscommunication about the BRAF test, driving over an hour to drop off a sample only to be told it was in the wrong container. At another “check up” visit, they extracted his anal glands without our permission which led to an infection and another $200+ visit with our primary vet. Our most recent visit at VCA is where things really took a turn for the worse. Our dog walked in his typical self to his last appointment, only for my husband to sit in the waiting room for nearly 6 hours for my dog to be returned to him lethargic, sick, with a terrible rash on his stomach, unable to walk properly. VCA, what did you do to our dog?? At one point we were told oh it’s bruising from where we extracted on his belly, don’t worry about it. We ultimately took him back for an emergency visit when he looked like he was having a seizure, to be told maybe the cancer spread to his spine or maybe it’s an infection. They wouldn’t give us a clear answer without us spending more money, for all the same tests that were just ordered three weeks prior. The suspicion of the cancer spreading or the spine infection is conflicting with the reports we received 3 weeks prior showing nothing seemed to had been spreading and that the chemo had been working to keep things at bay. Between the last month we spent $3000 at VCA only to lead to our dogs death. Was he injured at that last check up? Was he dropped or hurt in some way? Why can’t he walk anymore? What happened to our dog that was thriving three weeks ago?

currently here for an oncology appt. Checkup. It is now 3:30 pm and have been sitting here since 10am. Last appt they told me that the next checkup (one I’m at currently) will take about the same time as the last one (Which took about an hour) 5.5 hours later, I am still waiting. Excuse I just got was that because there’s imaging involved it usually takes all day. Did not tell me that when I made the appt or when I got here for the appt. Once again, no communication with their clients. And last time I got imaging done through them was when we got our diagnosis of cancer and we were in an out in about 25-30 min. I didn’t know imaging takes all day now.UPDATE:2/27/24I brought my dog in on 2/6/24 for an oncology appt checkup. (See post above)I left the hospital that day with my dog that was slow, lethargic and just not himself. I called up VCA the next day and they told me they extracted fluid from a couple lumps on his belly to see if they were cancerous. They believed the lethargic and moving slow had to do with bruising from them taking the samples. My dog has not been the same since that appt. I was told at that appt. That everything looked great, maybe a slight increase in prostate cancer but everything else remained stable($1,200 Appointment). Keep in mind he was always happy, active, walking a mile or two a day too pretty much bed bound. After I called on 2/7-2/8 they prescribed gabapentin to help ease with pain from the “bruising.”About 2 weeks went by with no relief.I woke up one morning to him walking sideways, not stable on his feet, having a type of vestibular event. I brought him into VCA Arborteum view telling them I went the full work up on him, that he has not been acting right and want to know what’s going on. Get a call later on in the afternoon that his cancer may have spread to his spine or might possibly have an infection in his spine from a UTI. (Even though I just got a urinalysis done a week prior). They ran up some more tests with a bill of $1,600 two weeks later with the exact opposite diagnosis he got two weeks prior. 3K in the hole with two conflicting reports. I should be getting a refund for the 1st oncology follow up but after what happened next, I wouldn’t expect it. After I received my bill, they put me in room 10 and told me they will have cooper down to me. I waited for an additional 40 MINUTES, Before I said something asking if it’s common practice to have their clients pay a 1600 dollar bill and then wait 40 additional minutes to get their dog. Ridiculous. As I was waiting in room 10, I can hear the receptionist every couple minutes saying, “okay, your total today is 1500 dollars, your total today is 975 dollars” etc etc. I realized this place is all about tacking up charges on simple tests (2-3 times more than you would pay a normal vet) because they feed off the vulnerability of people wanting the best for their pets. To top all this off, Dr. Honkisz stated she would check out cooper for free when she got back from vacation but I have yet to receive a phone call from her to set up an appt. To bring him in. She was supposed to be back Monday and has been crickets since last Thursday. After I expressed my displeasure of dropping 3k in vet bills to have zero answers on what’s going on, I feel like they know they got what they could out of me, money wise, and are moving onto the next. I would like a partial reimbursement for basically misdiagnosing the development of his cancer but I doubt I’d get that. I know it’s going to be a response with “I’m sorry about this, we strive to do better blah blah blah. Here we are, today, 2/27/24 we are putting our dog down this afternoon but quite frankly with no answers on what has caused his decline. Would never go through treatments or bring a pet to another VCA again. (Read reviews of VCA -Aurora for entertainment)

Today we received answers that we've been seeking for 2 weeks going elsewhere. Within a half an hour, we had answers for why our dog has been sick. They were very compassionate and patient in explaining our dogs prognosis with cancer. I would definitely recommend them.

Our dog needed emergency surgery because she ingested pieces of a toy. VCA was quick to respond, and she was in surgery within an hour. Because the toy was still in her stomach they could use a scope for removal. The Emergency Doctors were amazing, the staff at the front desk were great. We have Trupanion and VCA submitted the claim direct, which significantly reduced my out of pocket expense. This all happened late afternoon/evening before Thanksgiving, and we were able to take our dog home Thanksgiving afternoon.Thank you VCA ❤️

So disappointed in my emergency visit to VCA on the evening of 1/11, I brought our 13 year old pug in to be seen for emergency care - the doctor showed very little experience in treating her lacked empathy and judgment. They took hours away from our time together only for me to ask to take her home and hours later she passed in the care of her normal vet. If you want someone that does more than read from a lab test then stay clear of this place. I wish we had never wasted precious time here.

Yesterday morning, we brought in our precious dog because she unfortunately passed away at home. They took the utmost care of us and treated us like family, I highly recommend this place for anything. The best customer service provided, they truly care.

Brought my cat in because she was having trouble breathing. Dr. diagnosed her with a URI. Took her to a different vet practice the next day and upon doing a physical examination vet found a large tumor on her thyroid that was causing the problem. Spent $750 and 4 hours of my life at VCA for a bad diagnosis and my sweet kitty suffered an extra day as a result. Please don't take your pet here. Go to VEG.

I took my German Shepherd here yesterday to have him euthanized. I spoke to someone before bringing him in and explained what was going on with him. The lady was nice and assured me that I wouldn't be turned away. My dog has severe allergies and had mutilated himself overnight. It looked like he had been in a slasher film.He has been injuring himself over the past two years, and it is well documented with the two vets that I've taken him to. They called my current vet, and so this was confirmed. I called my current vet while at VCA, and they were astonished that the vet at VCA WOULDN"T EVEN TAKE A LOOK AT MY DOG. The lady who I spoke with referred my concerns to the doctor THREE times, and he said he wouldn't provide the service over allergies. I told the lady that he isn't just scratching his nose. If the doc would have cared and taken a look at him he would have realized this.My vet couldn't get me in, and I didn't want to bring him home. There would be no way that I could do anything for him. He was miserable, and I don't know how we could have gotten through another night. My vet put me in touch with Dupage County animal services, and a very helpful lady there told me to wait in the VCA parking lot while she gave them a call. She was on hold for a while, so she hung up and called me back. It was around 2pm, and she said that if I could make it there soon that they would perform the procedure. She cared, where the vet at VCA did not. He would not even look at my dog.I can say that this was the worst experience I've ever had with a business. The two women at VCA were nice and helpful, but the actual vet has to be a garbage human being. I am providing pics to show the shape my dog was in. If you care about your pets, stay away from VCA in Downers Grove.

VCA has an incredible team that are compassionate , skilled and professional. They saved my dogs lives, and not only did my dogs return home after a 48hour stay in good spirits, but when we returned for follow up bloodwork my dogs were pulling me to the door. This speaks numbers! Thank you! Merry Christmas ? ?❤️?.
