My Wife and I were looking for out door sets for our recently finished deck around the beginning of September.We decided to spend a Saturday and pick four stores to see what our options were and in our budget. After our first three stores we visited we were both a little confused and disappointed that this late in the season we were mostly stuck buying a full display set only. As what we saw and liked we couldn’t split sets to mix and match to our lliking.Our last stop of the day was the Great Escape in Downers Grove. I forgot all about this store.I bought my first teak table and chair set from them in the spring of 2005. We were in the market now for more contemporary pieces than the teak wood. A nice gentlemen named Chris Damarjian greeted us right away on arrival and was able to assist my wife and I with thoughts and Ideas and styles of what we liked. Chris was so helpful and knowledgeable of the products that are out there as well as other brands they didn’t sell. Chris put every effort to make us feel at ease and to let us know that what ever we purchase We will not be disappointed. Chris hit it right on the mark. We did purchase multiple items from table and chairs, swiveling chairs ,side tables ,fire pit, couch set and umbrella .To say everything went smooth with delivery and item availability was spot on, No, not exactly, But with one phone call to Chris everything was corrected and within a few days it was all resolved. What we would have to say is “Chris has made this one of the best high end purchases we have ever had” and definitely would recommend visiting him in his new managerial position in the Aurora Great Escape. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. The manager Chris , is very professional and accommodating. He and the staff address all your concerns and resolve any issue and are always polite. I highly recommend this location if you are looking for a pool, hot tub or outdoor patio furniture. So far, I have only purchased a hot tub., I have yet to get it installed. That being said, the purchase process has been great. The manager at the Downers Grove location, Chris Damarjian really helped my wife and I learn a lot about hot tubs. He spent over an hour just talking to us and educating us on all the options available, how to maintain them, etc. He even asked permission to talk to us before he started engaging. It was not at all the "hard sell" I was expecting after doing online research where it was compared to buying a used car. Anyway, after visiting a few other stores (Great Escape and competitors), we deiced on a Jacuzzi model and came back to the Great Escape to buy from Chirs. We felt that we would be in good hands for any issues that came up for for future service needs. Chris's approach and tact played a big part in our decision process, and we are glad we stopped in there first.

We were in the market for buying our first Hot Tub. My sister has purchased 2 Hot Tubs in the past and strongly suggested going to one of The Great Escape locations. We had a fantastic experience at this location. Mainly due to the outstanding salesperson assisting us, Mark Alagna. He was informative, knowledgeable and not pushy. He helped us understand the differences between hot tubs so we could make an educated decision. We purchased a Jacuzzi J-345. More to come as our Hot Tub will be delivered on August 10, 2023. I would recommend working with The Great Escape and if you are at this location...Ask for Mark! :)

We ended up buying a pool. Our salesperson was Mike. He said we had everything we needed setup at our home for a pool. We learned a lot from him and he made it seem like owning a pool would be a breeze. Delivery and setup was done early by the company the Great Escape uses and we were very pleased. Something was missing during setup and the man who setup the pool said we needed a certain part. We went to the store and Mike wasn’t there. They said he would call us. We call the store another day. Mike isn’t in. I said I would like to speak with anyone who can assist. Nope. Mike will call you back. We go into the store another day and finally talk to Mike. He finds what we need and says we shouldn’t use it long term because the quick fix will damage our brand new pump. He doesn’t remember telling us that we had everything we needed when we ordered the pool. Now we have to trench our yard and run electric and gas across the yard. We no longer trust Mike. Another day, we found out about a shut off valve we needed by the filter. The part doesn’t come with everything we purchased. We go to the store. No Mike. We call the store. No Mike. We have had it with Mike. Why can we only talk to one person? We need help so we are done with Downers Grove. We went to a different store where the employees help everyone. Such a difference!!!

We purchased 6 new sling back style chairs from this store. When the delivery people came, they removed all of the plastic from the chairs with box cutter style knives. it took us a couple of weeks to notice, but we see after using one of the chairs for the first time that they cut through the sling back material with their knife. we called the store and were told there is nothing they can do for us. A several hundred dollar chair is now worthless as this is going to tear when someone sits in it for the first time. Chris and everyone in the Great Escape customer service department failed us. There are much better places to shop for your outdoor furniture needs where they don't ruin your furniture as part of their delivery service.As to the response from owner, as we explained, these chairs were ordered well before they could be used due to the weather. When we took them out to use them we noticed this was the case. When I spoke to Chris, he agreed that it was the delivery people but told us "there isn't anything I can do because management won't let me." Also, why in the world do you let your delivery people near these chairs with box cutters? Your response is lame and insufficient. I'll continue to warn everyone I know not to shop at such a dishonest store.Now we are stuck with an unusable $400 chair. Hopefully you can start to see it from "our side".

I've been shopping at the great escape for years, and I've had the same salesman most of those years. He moved to another location but thankful that I found him here in Downers Grove. Chris has always been above and beyond with helping me every year making, sure I get what I need to open and close the pool. I like that he won't bother you and let you walk around and then when you have questions he has the answers. He really does make dealing with a salesman not feel like "dealing with a salesman".

I have been in sales and sales management for years, so I appreciate great service! Customer service I receive every time I am in there is the best. When I watch how the staff works with customers by name every time I am in there and the attention to detail is top notch! I have been working with Chris for over four years now and even when I am not in there for a few months, I am treated like a lifelong friend! Highly recommend this location and sales staff!

Excellent experience!!! The price for what we bought was very fair and the customer service with Mark was outstanding. If only other industries could provide that level of customer service and the overall experience we had with purchasing our new patio set with The Great Escape team!!!

I would highly recommend working with Matt for all of your outdoor furniture needs. He spent over 2 hours with us, moving umbrellas, trying to get us the best price and overall going out of his way to get us what we wanted. Appreciate you! We will be repeat buyers for sure next season.
