After booking online and paying in advance, at check-in Avid collected cc info for incidentals. Upon check out they then charged me again for the room. Called two days later and was told cc had already been credited. Called a week later after charge still present. They said they would call back, then didn't call and stopped ansering phone. Charge disputed with cc company and still awaiting outcome.Noteworthy details: shady business practices

I have never stayed at an Avid hotel before, actually, I never even heard of an Avid hotel before (I think it’s an American chain, and fairly new, and I’m Canadian). I chose this location based on a few things:1. Proximity to the airport. It took 6 mins to get to from here.2. I’m an IHG member so I wanted those points if I could help it.3. The reviews were pretty good; I always keep in mind that there will be some “Karen’s” who can’t help themselves when it comes to writing bad reviews because that one employee didn’t smile big enough or they didn’t have almond milk readily available.4. Price. Holy h*ll the prices for a hotel around O’Hare airport are out of control. Keep in mind that because I’m Canadian, I also factor in the insane currency exchange/rate. But this location wasn’t bad at all. I was actually sceptical because it was reasonably priced with good reviews. The entire place was clean and very new looking. Bed/room was comfortable. The “to go” breakfast was surprisingly good and had more options than I had anticipated. There is seating/tables in the lobby as well. The reason they’re reasonably priced compared to most other hotels in the area is because they are efficient in what they offer. They don’t offer the extra (usually useless) “frills” ie: coffee in room (coffee is available in the lobby 24/7), unneeded toiletries, ice bucket in room (they have one, and ice, but it’s in the lobby and you use it as needed). This cuts down on extra waste, time spent cleaning/replenishing, and is good for the environment.. so I wasn’t at all bothered by those things. Plus, it’s reflected in the price, so win/win if you ask me.Good, comfortable, clean, affordable place to stay if you’re wanting to be close to the airport.

Higly Recommend!Affordable price with good quality.Helpful staff, very clean, large modern room with big TV, very good standard for an airport hotel. Breakfast is provided with good food quality. Free flow 24 hour coffee machine. Internet speed is awesome.Access to foods and stores also easy, just cross by the street many restaurants are available. They also provide small market in the lobby with snacks.Rooms: Spacious room, modern style, large TV and very clean.

We stayed there when our son graduated from Navy boot camp for one night. The place was very clean and the room we had was very very clean . but none of the lights worked on the left side of the room. The lady checking in my wife that night was not really friendly. But we had to leave at midnight to meet our son so my mother in law forgot her favorite pillow when we got back home in Alabama . She called them and they found it and told her how to get it sent to her. The morning staff at desk and housekeeping was fantastic . So I am giving them a five, thank you so much.

Pros: I like the wooden floor and room design, look modern and cleaner than carpet.Cons:1. We saw a bug in the room (while there might be lots of many hidden). We have to clean all our luggage afterwards. The bathroom is not very clean, e.g. the sink top has some hair likely from previous customer's shaving.2. We tried to postpone the check-out time a little bit, as the car rental company can't find a car for our reservation. The front desk was very reluctant to postpone the front desk was very reluctant to postpone the check-out time from 11am to 12pm, after we mentioned we have IHG membership.

When arriving to the hotel everything looked very well. Arriving to my room was the experience I had went out to an event and came back to find a damn roach in the bathroom… It was such an inconvenience. I mean, truly it was bogus. I packed all my things and left them in my car and then talked to front desk. They didn’t sound alarmed by the fact that I said roach. All they told me was to talk to the morning manager because they were fully booked and since I live about 7 hours away driving home wasn’t an option and other surrounding hotels were fully booked. I stayed the night in my room with only my car keys and shoes. In the morning the manager told me they couldn’t refund me but could give me points… why would I want points for a hotel that sees no issue with roaches. I’m truly disappointed. I was rooting for y’all. We were all rooting for y’all.

Note that this review would be useful only if you have young kids. We have two year old twins. We chose this hotel primarily because it's not carpeted. Our kids obviously have no concept of hygiene and cleanliness and they are going to be on the floor a lot. We packed a mop, bucket and pinesol to mop down the ultra clean looking hotel floor. So that we could walk barefoot because our kids are going to drop and pick stuff up from the floor constantly. It's understandable that the water from mopping turned out brown in color. But the room and bathroom floors are clean to the naked eye.The AC is messed up in that we couldn't keep the fan running constantly which is a standard feature. We like a constant noise and because the fan shut off along with the cooling, our sleep was disrupted. Also, the AC either runs full blast when set to 69F and doesn't seem to stop. Increase it to 70F and it doesn't kick in. The room temp was all over the place.Would be nice the bathroom had an exhaust fan. The room has no chest of drawers for storage. No microwave or coffeemaker which is such a disadvantage. They have nice toiletries from Dove brand. The kind front desk lady extended our check out to 12 noon. The breakfast items made of eggs were nice and I didn't expect a free breakfast.

Very friendly staff and helpful. Didn't know about the shuttle bus from O'Hare. What a life saver. Give them a call. Karim the driver is a star. Rooms are comfortable and clean. If I use a hotel in Chicago again then this is a good one.

We found this hotel while looking for a less expensive hotel option to use during an annual event, and were suitably impressed! The location was a bit farther away from the event than what we've used in the past, but the location made the event, and other places we wanted to go, very easy to access by car. There's also a large selection of restaurants and a Target across the street, for when you don't want to drive. The free parking included with the room made it easy to come and go freely over the weekend. The staff was very pleasant and helpful! I have an allergy to down bedding, and was unable to determine what type of pillows were used ahead of our stay; when the staff wasn't sure either, they made every effort to find out, and were prompt about changing out the bedding for me. (For anyone else who might wonder, the "soft" pillows are down, while the "firm" are fiber, so you'll have both in the room.)The room was clean and very open, with the only closed space being the small mini fridge. This made it very easy to check the room for any remaining items before departure; there was nowhere except the fridge for anything to hide. The continental breakfast was a great change from all the past hotels we've used! The selection was your typical cold breakfast fare, plus a couple of hot egg-based dishes each morning, and the breakfast area was serviced regularly to keep it clean and stocked during breakfast hours. If you're looking for a good hotel option in this area, I'd definitely recommend this one. We'll be continuing to use it for future trips!

This was my first time staying at the Avid Hotels by IHG Group and it exceed all expectations. The hotel is affordable, economical, and gives you a sort of European hotel vibe. Rooms were nice and clean, smell free (important in Chicago), spacious. Services in the room were modern and up to date, nothing outdated like other hotels in the same price range. Location is close to the airport and they have a free airport shuttle for pickup and drop off. I liked their late check-out policy, the staff was generous enough to extend the check-out until 12:30 pm. Breakfast had minimalist approach and was great (egg omelets, breads, fruits, yogurt, granola bars, fresh 24hr coffee machines). I would consider this hotel for future stays, and hopefully they will maintain the quality. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay near the airport!Rooms: Clean, spacious, smell free, modern, upto date rooms.Nearby activities: Close to airport with free shuttle services!Safety: We found the place to be safe!
