We just left the dealership after speaking with the sales manager. We were interested in buying a new Civic and walked in with pre-approval for a loan from our own credit union. The salesman Alex was very nice but the sales manager, that we spoke with, who's name I was too irritated to remember, was rude and condescending, especially after finding out that we would not be financing through their dealership. Several times, he asked me questions only to interrupt me mid-answer just to compliment my husbands shirt or say some other nonsense. He then refused to give us a price on the car unless we agreed to buy it beforehand. He actually stated "I'll give you the best price on this car but only if you agree to buy it today, right now, before I tell you the price." Who does business that way?! After threatening to leave, he finally gave us a price then stated "if you don't take this deal then you're stupid." No sir, I'm not stupid. Nor did I come here to be insulted or talk about my husbands clothes. It's a 2019 Civic that I can find literally anywhere. Anyway, Honda of Illinois in Springfield IL matched the price, threw in a lifetime power train warranty on top of Honda's standard warranties, added splash guards, and threw in free car washes forever. And they were very nice to work with.
