This use to be the best thrift store in the area where I could always find something unique and at a bargain. Everything is now incredibly overpriced and obvious trash is put out for sale. Its a real shame.

Definitely a great place to bargain-hunt! My niece is the store manager, and she's fiendish about organizing and labeling the shelves. If you can't find it at AbleLight, you probably won't find it anywhere :)

This was my first time visiting this thrift store. I was excited to walk through all of the isles. It is one of the largest thrift stores I have seen. It was well organized on wire rack shelves so you can always keep an eye on other thrifters.. Tons of clothes all marked with signs, so you can go to the sections you are most I interested in.
They do have a large furniture section with many items. The bathrooms were clean and pleasant smelling. Something I do not see much is a changing room attendant that stands by the changing rooms. He was a very polite person and let you know which room to go in.
I found a somewhat rare board game that was rubber banded closed so I could count the pieces. I hate when they use packing tape on all of the edges!
I would go back the next time we are in the area.

Great book selection, lots of clothes and nick knacks. It’s bigger than it looks from the outside. I got a couple really amazing items including glass vases, art books etc.

Declined to round up and the “lady” cashing me out had the nerve to say “it’s only .43 cents!” I explained that my grasp on basic math is sound and that the answer was still no.
Lady proceed to slam the till shut and slam my bagged dog harness and books on the counter.
1st bad experience I’ve had there so far. I see this same problem addressed on other reviews. Too bad nobody monitors the google reviews.

Not super crowded, friendly staff, good selection, prices are a little high for used items, but they are stilll the best in the town of Crystal Lake for a resale.

They turned down offer of clean, small cardboard boxes for transporting small breakables in favor of using plastic bags. Hello, anyone there heard of plastic pollution.? There are states that banned plastic bags - Vermont is one of them - and guess what? Unlike McHenry County their roadsides aren’t littered with plastic discards.

This place has some good deals for certain items. It's fun to look around. However, I really do not like being asked to round up for a donation every time I purchase something there. Let's face it -- simply BUYING things from this place supports their charity. (I have donated items here as well.) Why do they feel the need to ask for even more money every single time anyone makes a purchase? Frankly, it's a turn-off. When I politely declined to round up today, the blonde lady who was checking out my order turned a little rude. She didn't even thank me for my purchase. Hey AbleLight managers: do you really think customers will be eager to come back to your store when they are treated that way?

The lady that checked me out was so rude. I declined to "round up" because I give other ways and she gave me a dirty look and would not give me a bag for the glass pictures frames and they broke. Nasty person.

FYI, you can’t sell USPS boxes that the post office gives out for free. Kinda illegal.
