This happened Sunday July 28th 2024.
I gave 1 star as it was necessary to comment. I am currently visiting from out of state. I googled the nearest TJ Maxx store and was given this location. I spent a couple hours there looking for items that interested me. After I gathered all my things. I headed out to the fitting room. There was one young lady in front of me. She was Muslim with a hair wrap. They asked her to put all of her things on the rack. After she did so, the attendant separated each one to look thru each piece. When it came to my turn all of a sudden a second person is now present, with her back towards me pretending to sort thru some clothing while obviously telling the attendant something about me. I could see them communicating. After I noticed this, I put my items on the rack, I had 6 things the limit was 10. She repeated the process of going thru each item but very slowly, so I asked her what she was looking for? she gave an arrogant response of, "I'm looking to see that all of your items have a price tag on them and I'm going to do the same when you come out, it's my job"! I replied with "I don't care". I proceeded to the fitting room. As I was trying on my clothing I got to reflecting on that exchange, and how I've been visiting Tjmaxx stores for over 30 years and never felt so targeted and discriminated against. I noticed that there was only 1 other black woman shopping at the store. I also started to wonder, if the way I was treated was why no one of color was in this store. So when I exited she proceeded to ask did I find anything that worked? I proceeded to tell her that after that first exchange I was not interested in any of her small talk. She then snatched up my clothes that I placed on the rack (obviously upset and very aggressively) So much so she forgot to check to see if the price tags were still attached. She took an item I wanted to purchase, I informed her, she again aggressively returned it to me and then snatched the number given to me to enter the fitting room from my hand, again aggressively. She then proceeded to tell me to have a nice day. I did not reply. As I headed to the register to check out. I thought about that experience and decided to hang the clothes on a nearby rack. I told myself although a small purchase, I didn't want to spend any money at that store, so I left. I was in shock at how boldly aggressive she became with me. So much so I knew that she knew there would be no consequences for her behavior. I bothered not to seek out a manager, as I knew she would be the same one who told her to target me for extra inspection upon entering the fitting room. I saw her whispering to her. Honestly being a black woman of darker skin complexion I am very much used to being stereotyped, it's very sad but true. I am constantly aware of my surroundings naturally because of it. No I was not dressed professionally as I am on vacation. I was wearing baggy clothing and sneakers. I wondered if that had something to do with it? In all honesty in 2024 how I present myself shouldn't matter how I am treated. Yet here we are. I took this time to write this long review to warn others of the experience I had. Hopefully it will prompt others to share their experience and also write a review to end these type of experiences at this store. Also to let others know how this store felt so comfortable telling me they were checking for the price tags on my items and would recheck them when I exited. To me it says we don't want your kind here and we're not afraid to let you know it.

The best T.J Maxx ever. The clothes are amazing and cheap which nowadays, it’s hard to get and the place/atmosphere is nice.

This store is ok. The lines get really big to the point where I wait for more than 10 minutes. It’s clean and neat. But this employee named maggy was really rude and disrespectful. I did complain to the manager but nothing was done.

Lines are always horrible!! Plan at least an extra 30 minutes to wait in line. If you have anything to return and follow the sign for returns, forget about it. They are rude and then tell you that you have to wait in their awful lines!!

April 9, 2024 I was shopping in this location when I got to the cashier with two travel backpack one of the ladies there, I believe she was a store manager, instruct the cashier to check the backpacks she sounded very upset and gave me the impression of a Racist person !! I totally understand they had to do their job but she did it so obvious making me feel like I was stealing something. I didn’t appreciate it the way she did it and I got me so upset.
