I recently visited the Jewel-Osco located at 545 S Brainard Ave and found the service to be notably lacking. The staff appeared disinterested and unfriendly, and my attempts to address issues with the manager were met with unhelpfulness and unresolved problems. This location's poor customer service and ineffective problem-solving significantly detract from its appeal for shopping.
In a subsequent visit to use Western Union services, I encountered multiple issues due to the computer system being down, which happened about ten times. In contrast, another Jewel-Osco location Lagrange Park ? managed to handle the transaction smoothly. When I requested to speak with the manager trying to find an answer to why his system was down and that or Lagrange park was fine, I met with a stern blunt responses. Based on these experiences, I would recommend seeking alternative locations for a more satisfactory service experience.

Check your yogurt. It's either on date or past date. Cashier Jay NEVER helps putting bags into your cart. Just leaves them for you to reach over and put in your cart after you pay.

This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve seen here in years. This is my local Jewel and I’ve shopped here for 12 years and I’ve used the bathroom way too many times here too. This is why I bring it on here. I’m flabbergasted. The bathroom seemed clean, garbage wasn’t up to top. It was 8am almost 9am. If the person who cleaned the bathroom saw that and left it there… no words. Kids use those bathrooms, elderly people, curious people. That’s beyond unsafe, unsanitary, inhumane and insane to not have picked that up and tossed it. I understand drug addicts aren’t in their right mind so I can’t blame them all the way, I mean the store is open for public too. I obviously don’t know what exactly that is. I didn’t want to think “oh hey, someone goes shoot at jewels” does staff not use that bathroom and they’re all ignoring it ? I don’t want to think it’s a diabetic and not have their insulin in the locker with all the rest of their things. This is nasty and germy. Why would you collect all of that and not dispose it properly ? Diabetics are very delicate. This jar had scotch tape on the lid like it was really going to hold on. I told a lady that worked there, hopefully they do something about it. I wasn’t prepared to touch that, I didn’t want to just use thin toilet paper. Anything can happen and might be worse (lawsuit) who knows…

The employees constantly block aisles and are less than friendly. There's a young man that usually works the self checkout that's nice (maybe about 18, longer brown hair), but that's pretty much it. The service desk workers always seem to be absolutely miserable. No wonder the rest of the staff seems that way. Anyway.. last time I was there, the kid collecting carts hit my car (HARD) with the cart.. stopped.. looked me dead in the eyes (I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR) and ran away. Didn't even say sorry. Cool, dude. Real cool.

The pastry fridge is warm, it smells dewy when you walk in, the deli is a hot mess, 4 ppl and no one wants to help, so I grabbed some pre packed lunch meat instead. Cakes are warm and the staff look as sad as the produce does.

Just an FYI, digital receipts are worthless, if you need to return something, make sure you have your original paper receipt in hand. Had to go through 3 different people just to try and get a store credit only. Finally after 10 minutes had to get approval from manager and since I payed with debit I asked for my money back IN CASH which they hate doing. Now buying this item elsewhere. Big dummies could have just approved it from the beginning and given me a store credit instead of losing money.

Yes better.the guy up front at register i think is gone. And the e guys in deli i believe are gone. I will say this you have the nicest people in the pharmacy! I especially like the pharmacist he is a little older. I think European? Very nice and good at his job. He's been there a while.

Had a lady in the Pharmacy give me attitude over the phone for questions... I was so thrown off by the interaction so much so that I even said to her, "I'm just asking you basic questions so I'm not sure why you're giving me attitude". Long story short my daughters prescription wasn't able to be filled and they told me to contact my Dr, have her fill out a form and send it to insurance. Which I did all that, I call back almost a week after the prescription was originally placed to get an update and she's proceeding to tell me to get the paperwork filed out. I told her I did that step already so I'm just calling for an update. She then felt the need to tell me she's been doing this for years and even if I did all that it might take MONTHS for it to actually get accepted or not go thru at all (nobody told me that prior).
She tells me she will try again to process it while I'm on the phone and it still didn't go thru.. so I asked what do I do now it's been a whole week? She says, "Go contact your insurance or Dr again because it's still not going thru and I can't do anything about it. Call them not us"
Idk have some compassion..? This is meds for a 5 year old little girl.. which I know you can see on your end. The original tech who gives us the information to contact the Dr the first time it didn't go thru was very professional and explained it to us gracefully.. this lady today was completely rude and unprofessional. I was simply asking for a week old prescription update and was being very thorough with all the information I provided. Maybe it's time to change to a new Pharmacy. Occurance 7/22/24 at 11am.

A place you can go to that operates on the basis of the customer is always right. I love George and everyone else working the late shift. They work hard to close on time. Do you as a shopper deserve to go to this Jewel location??

Deli is horrible. Wait is ALWAYS 30 plus minutes. Clerk ate some turkey off the end he was slicing for me. Never says hello or can I help you. Won't hand me my order, I have to reach over the counter to take it from him. Never says thank you. Obviously there's an issue with MANAGEMENT.

Here is an average day at the Countryside Jewel location, a place I once visited daily but will not be returning to.
Upon entering, your first question will be "where are the baskets?" Not at the front of the store, where they should be. But instead at the exit, where the employees let them pile up, only rarely redistributing them.
After that detour, you'll next begin questioning "Why is the produce department full of smoke? And why does it smell of fried chicken at 7:30 am?" That would be because the employees never change the grease in the deep fryer. So now their days-old fruit is not only rotten but smells like old chicken grease. Yum!
Finally, you'll go shopping for the things on your list. Dog food: They no longer carry your Purina that literally every other grocery store sells. Frozen Pizza: The Newman's tag is just a mirage, never to actually be stocked. Black Cold Brew Coffee: Only sweetened coffee at the Jewel.
So you leave, happy to have bought nothing because all the lanes of the self checkout aren't open for some unknown reason and the one actual checkout has a long line.

This review is based off a few years of “drive up and go” services. I started during the beginning of Covid and didn’t really have any problems. I place an order about once a week to keep my produce and meat purchases fresh. Well, 1 of 4 monthly purchases always has something (sometimes an entire bag of items) missing, but I was charged for them. I can understand the occasional item here and there, but an entire bag ($15/$90+ worth) is crazy. I was once over charged for crab legs by $90+!! Imagine all of the busy customers that may not recognize this and have now lost out on their money.
When this has happened to me in the past I tried the “Drive up and go” services from the Willow Springs location and they were perfect every time. But, due to certain item availability I have to primarily purchase from the Countryside location. Well, today I picked up my order, got home, and discovered another entire bag of groceries missing! I called the store direct instead of just asking for a refund through the app. Once transferred to the “DUG” department, the man/woman with a very monotone voice informed me the bag was indeed still at the store. I explained I am not interested in driving back for the items and would like to file a complaint. This individual’s customer service skills are non existent. They didn’t acknowledge me wanting to file a complaint and said in a very delayed monotone voice, “I will see about getting you a refund.” Myself not exactly trusting this individual’s ability to do so, I told them I would request the refund through the app.
This location truly is a drag and needs some real help. I can say in the past I did have a run in with one of the Drive up and go women, her name I believe was Maria, and she was amazing! ? I love Jewel, but this location is surely to leave a bad taste in some people’s mouth.
