I’m going to start with our penultimate experience from two years ago when I took my Yorkie for a grooming. It was during CoVid so I had to drop him off in the morning to be picked up late afternoon. I did not like the idea of leaving him in a cage for so long, but there weren’t many options at the time. When I was called to pick him up, I was told that he had been cut and that they had taken care of his wound; they soon brought him out to me with a cone and a circular divet, 7mm in diameter and about 1mm deep, where his inner thigh attaches to his abdomen. I could see the dog was in some pain. I was charged for the grooming and to make matters worse the vet never came out to meet with me. I had never felt really good about this place, but this added to my uneasiness. After avoiding Countryside Vet, and vets in general, for the past two years, I needed to take my dog for a suspected ear infection and a couple of his shots. I was hesitant, but this was the easiest place as they have all his paperwork. Again, I had to drop him off in the morning. I was called at 5pm to confirm the shots and was told his ears were clean. However, as the vet stated it, “He peed all over himself and we had to give him a bath,” which tells me they pretty much confined him in a cage and ignored him completely until it was his turn to be seen. She proceeded to tell me he has a great deal of plaque and it would be $1500 to clean his teeth. Now, I am not one to brush my dog’s teeth, but I do make sure he has crunchy, healthy snacks and meals. Furthermore, he still has all his teeth at 13. I declined and quickly left to pick up the poor thing; he was sad and exhausted and spent the next 2.5 days with a painful front paw, which he would hold up. He finally seemed better by the third day, but still very tired.Suddenly, exactly one week to the day, I wake up to frothy, clear vomit all over the kitchen floor. He continued to vomit until late afternoon when he started having diarrhea as well. It has been four days now, with sleepless nights, and he’s slowly getting better. I don't know if he caught something at the vet, since I only approved two of the five shots they recommended, or if he’s having a reaction to the vaccines, but I’m more reluctant to go back there. There is nothing worse than taking your beloved pet to be seen by a veterinary expert and having him come home wounded and ill, not to mention having to pay an exorbitant bill for the subpar care.Update: A few days later, I was having trouble getting an appointment for my dog and could not understand why one location gave me an appointment and then called a few minutes later to say they had made an error and there were no more appts available for the rest of the week. I soon learned that Countryside Veterinary Center had forwarded this Google review to several clinics in the area.

Everyone here made sure that my family got the comfort that we needed when we had to say goodbye to our dog, golondrino. The staff was very kind to my parents who only spoke Spanish and they made sure we knew every detail for the process. I am glad that golondrino got to meet the wonderful staff before crossing the rainbow bridge.

I adore Melinda, our dog's groomer, for her excellent deshedding care. The vet center provides great service, though post-COVID waits are longer due to increased demand. Despite the disinfectant scent, which requires extra baths for my dogs, I appreciate the commitment to a safe and clean environment.

Countryside Veterinary Center is simply the worst place in the Chicagoland area to take your pet for care. I don’t state this as an opinion; it is fact. But the special thing about Countryside Vet, and what I assume is their “secret sauce”, is they combine their amateur vets with wildly bizarre and unexplainable customer interactions. If you really have a strong dislike for your pet, or you’re into having completely irrational and weird customer service, Countryside Vet is the place for you.Recently, we took our beloved Labrador to Countryside for what we thought was a urinary tract infection. In her 9 years of life, she has had 2-3 of these and we immediately recognized the symptoms. We dropped her off and expected she would simply need to have a treatment of antibiotics. That night, we were informed by “Dr” Kalebich, whom we were told is the lead veterinarian at the facility, that our dog had a large mass in her bladder. She assured us that this was cancer and our dog had approximately 6-8 months to live. “Dr” Kalebich said we could confirm the diagnosis through a $500 ultrasound. We quickly questioned if it could be anything else and while “Dr” Kalebich said it’s a possibility, we were assured our dog had 6-8 months to live. Needless to say, we were devastated as we love our dog and our children are very attached to her. Mercifully, they did provide us with antibiotics just in case there was also a UTI. We decided that after her 10-day antibiotic treatment, we would bring her back for another examination in two weeks to help us decide if we should do the ultrasound. It was two weeks of hell for my wife and I. We were left to think our dog would pass soon, figuring out how we would break the hearts of three little boys in the coming year and how we could make the best of a terrible situation. Interestingly, it was also two weeks of doing amateur veterinary work of our own. I personally palpated my dog to try and find this large mass - couldn’t find anything. My wife looked up the diagnosis and learned it was extremely rare for her breed. Still, we figured we were on the wrong end of highly unlikely statistics. We were in hell. After two weeks, we took her back for a second examination. And wouldn’t you know, the large mass, the one I couldn’t find the very next day after the initial exam, miraculously had disappeared! And upon further examination, can you guess what she still had? A lingering UTI. SHOCKING.We immediately lodged a complaint and to their credit, the front desk handled it apologetically and graciously. We were promised a call from the medical director. This call came. And to call it irrational and weird would be an understatement. The Medical Director informed us that our belief that our dog would die in 6-8 months after being told by their lead vet that our dog would die in 6-8 months, was simply (paraphrasing) “our interpretation of what the vet said.” This medical director apparently thinks there’s multiple interpretations or alternate perceptions of the words, “your dog only has 6-8 months to live.” It. Was. Wild. And weird. But more than anything, it was condescending and unprofessional. And rude.Needless to say, we’ll be finding a professional and well-educated vet center going forward. All the best to the pet owners out there! Stay away from Countryside! You’ve been warned.

TJ has been extremely helpful in helping us with Lucy’s soon to be two knee surgery’s. He’s taken care of all our insurance claims so we don’t have to worry about it. We can tell he’s genuine about Lucy’s well being too. Not just TJ, but the entire staff who comes to greet Lucy when we arrive. You have our trust when we take Lucy to the Vet, knowing she’s going to be in good hands. Also a shout out to Dr. Johnson. Thank you for explaining everything to us about Lucy’s second surgery. Thank you for being patient with all my wife’s questions. :).

Keeps promising a refund, but never comes through.Took our cat here for a growth on his lip. They prescribed antiboitics for his ears and post op testing, next day had to take him back for the surgery. They billed us for a test that was not performed and we can not get a refund. The vet, Dr Nick, told us we would get a refund since the Ekg test was not performed. They billed us for an cone/collar which we did not need, I brought my own cone/collar which they refused t use, just so they could bill us more. They never provided a bill for the 1st visit for the ears and they refuse to refund our money!

We've been loyal clients for 17 years, driving from another town and always paying in full upfront. Today we had an unplanned visit for our dog. The total came up to $269 (more than I expected)and only had $200 so I asked if could please pay them the remainder in a week when I have his follow up. I was told they don't do that. Office personnel took me in a room and told me again they don't that but that this time I could sign an agreement that I would pay by Friday. Ok, no problem, but I was already feeling embarrassed, she then proceeds to tell me they need my driver's license too.. now I'm feeling insulted. I could see if I was a newer client or one that has a history of having past balances on my account but a 17 year client with a clean record, driving from far to support their small business left me with a very sour taste. I then learned that Dr. Schlapp is not the owner anymore. No wonder the place felt colder without that family atmosphere. We will not be returning.
