I absolutely love my house. I took my plans to several different contractors and out of all of them, Jon provided the best customization without ripping you off.

Jon built my beautiful custom forever home for my family. It’s by far the biggest bang for your buck in the area!

Five Stars for customer service. My home was built by JLP over 10 years ago. I recently called JLP for guidance as to where my doorbell transformer was located. I called the office first and got a voice mail. I called the second number listed on their website and it was Jon himself. He was very courteous and willing to direct me to two possible locations. We were pretty pressed for time since we had to shut off all the power in the house so that we can add a doorbell camera, so I appreciate Jon's willingness to take my call and not pass me along to his staff.

If I could give him no stars, I would. Stay far away from this business. My mother had 3 trees fall on her house in June (its now November) and used his services. He wiped my mothers whole insurance check she received and did not finish the job. He sends random people in her house that just leave her back door WIDE OPEN with her personal belongs exposed and NO ONE HOME! We are lucky no one stole anything! Communication with him is absolutely terrible. We never know when someone is going to come over to repair the damage. My mother went up to his office today to ask for an itemized receipt and he "couldn't" give that to her. You are better off fixing it yourself instead of dealing with the stress this business creates when you are already dealing with the stress of mother natures damage.

JLP is a horrible builder. By all means find another builder. He Doesn’t honor/stand behind his contract. Cuts corners at every step. We had tons of issues during the whole build. Jon would always blames his sub contractors for the issues and the fixes were all done with low quality workmanship. We reported and showed him tons of issues at our one year warranty, and non of them were taken care of. Tried contacting him via email, phone calls, texts, and one in person run in and nothing. Seriously I can’t stress it enough find a different builder.Service: Home building

Find a builder with morals. No front step, fireplace FELL off the wall, sup pump burned out 3 times due to improper drainage

Look elsewhere. As a neighbor who watched every step of construction of one of their homes, I'd advice you to finder another builder immediately. The quality is terrible and the owner clearly does not stand behind his work. Our new neighbors hoped for a dream home but got a nightmare instead. I hope the owner rights his wrongs but it is doubtful.

I wouldn't wish these builders on anyone. This is from the perspective of someone who had to live next to one of JLP's job sites. What was the worst of it? The day the workers were physically, on the ground, fighting? Or was it the months that went by with the roll-off dumpster in the street? Perhaps it was the worker urinating in the yard, since there was no porta-john on site? Not to mention the cars constantly parked on the wrong side of the street and the lack of consideration all around for the people who were forced to live next to their overly drawn out construction job.Stay far away from this company.

In 2016 we were very excited to have the opportunity to build our home. We chose JLP as we were told by the owner he could build "exactly" what we wanted. However, during the building process we discovered items that were broken, fitted wrong or omitted from our plans. Throughout the building process we experienced multiple issues such as: cracked concrete on front porch, broken/wrong cabinets, wrong stair rail post, omission of tray ceiling in bedroom, exterior siding/stone fitted wrong, broken stairs, interior/exterior doors not closing properly, gaps underneath garage door, stained concrete in basement patchy and discolored.....to name just a few. We were scheduled to close on the house in May 2017. When we arrived for the final inspection on closing day, there were 8 or 9 people working in and around the house. Our realtor was stunned as we learned there were items the city stated must be addressed prior to closing. We closed, but only to be told in June 2017 we have to close AGAIN as a residency permit had not been submitted. We had to pay TWICE to close on the house. We then had to virtually nag the owner to come and do a thirty-day walkthrough (which turned out to be a 65 day walkthrough). Any items we pointed out that needed addressing, was met with unacceptable excuses and promises of getting them resolved (some, not all). Most are still outstanding. Needless to say, we did not get our one year inspection with JLP either! Our house is less than 4 years old and we have already had to replace the windows as the window seals and insulation in the original windows were mostly non-existent. Some windows were not insulated at all! We just had our drive extended and it was discovered the downspouts at the front of our house were not installed correctly. In addition, the "patio" concrete was not laid correctly and is bowing and cracking. It is not even attached to our house so when it rains, the water sits between the patio and the foundation of our house. The garden was not properly graded and pools of water collects outside our bedroom. The downspouts at the rear of our house are not directing the water away from the property either. Our front porch is not level and when it rains a lot the water runs towards the house. I have to sweep it away so it does not collect at the base of the house and cause foundation issues later. When we called Jon about this he said he was "on vacation" and would deal with it when he got back. He didn't. Our persistent calls and emails went unanswered, so we are spending tens of thousands of dollars to correct the shoddy workmanship. I would not recommend a JLP house to anyone, and it seems the company's reputation is so bad when people ask who built our house, they all say they are not surprised at what we have experienced. I wish I would have known that prior to building.

Im not sure where to begin this review. There were so many things wrong with our new build. I am very disappointed in the way this company operates. The planning stages went well, but things quickly declined as building progressed. JLP Homes (Dale/Jon Poetker) lack responsiveness, follow-up, professional communication and workmanship. A lot of the labor was done in a shoddy manner and many corners were cut. There was virtually no quality control on their end. Our project manager quit halfway through the build and we never got a new one. Jon took over supposedly but was clearly in over his head. As the buyer, we had to point out numerous errors and issues. We were promised a fix for all, but many things remain undone and we have been in the house 1 year this week. Jon Poetker has put us off so many times it is ridiculous. Jon was on vacation during our closing and many many times while we built and we pointed everything out upon his return and he agreed all would be taken care of. Most of the items remain unresolved, and we are now doing many things ourselves. We had issues with water intrusion from day one in the basement. It took 11 months to get them to do anything about it, and only after we sent certified letters threatening legal action. We had a hole left in the drywall in our bathroom from a lighting fixture that was ordered in the wrong size. After 12 months I finally filled in the 8" hole myself and patched the drywall. We had a 24" piece of trim that was supposed to go over our fridge on top of the cabinets. It took 10 months to get that fixed after we moved in. It took me something like 25 emails over 11 months of pestering them to get it installed. They ordered the wrong piece 4 times. We had another drywall issue in the basment where they sub contractors walled over a support pole and the pole was pushing the drywall out. It took 9 months and hundreds of emails to get it repaired and then they didn't order any baseboards to replace the ones they removed (and threw away we suppose as they were never found) so the trim guy used left over pieces from our banister ... but its a different size than the baseboard so its very noticeable. When they were grading our yard they ran over the sidewalk with a skidsteer and broke the concrete. It was never fully fixed. I could seriously go on and on, but i think you get my point. I truly wish I had read the BBB and Angie's list reviews online prior to our contract signing, as we wouldn't be in this situation. I cannot stress enough, use another builder in Metro East.Service: Project management

Company went above my expectations on the build of my new home. The Design Consultant, Jen, was amazing to work with and really knows the product. It was an exciting and stressful process. The end result, was a great, new home for a good price. Happy client here!
