A lovely bookstore with a good range of options. Their merch is cute and I love that they still require masks

Such a fantastic selection of diverse and inclusive books!! And the staff are truly so kind and helpful. This bookstore also hosts some of the best bookish/author events in the city! I plan to come again as often as possible!

Seemed like a very nice bookstore. Went with some friends who did buy books. I just looked around.

Enough with the mask policy, it's 2024 and there are plenty of other places to buy books. Never shopping here again.

Great local bookstore that focuses on women, queer and POC subjects and authors with lots of recommendations blurbs on the shelves from staff. The store is health conscious with requesting patrons wear masks and providing them at the door which is welcome. The amount of topics condensed into the space is impressive; YA, fiction, romance, sci-fi/fantasy, politics, spirituality, and a large children's section. Great selection of pins, stickers, and patches as well. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and they can easily order anything out of stock and it comes in quickly.

A go-to bookstore in the heart of Andersonville. This institution has something for everyone and incredibly helpful staff to help you find the perfect read.

It is Feb 2024 and this place still requires masks. It’s been 4 years since Covid. You can’t make people wear masks anymore. Ridiculous

You do have to wear a mask when you do come in and they provide free masks. Everyone wants to moan about how COVID is over and no one wants to talk about the flu. Masks can prevent transmission of common sicknesses most of the time. Before I came here, I did see one star reviews saying that they were anti-black. The moment I parked, I saw Black Lives Matter flags all over their windows. They have POC employees and have a wonderful section of black literature. So I’m pretty sure that the majority of the one star reviews are fake. I had asked an employee for recommendations and they picked out their favorites and their coworkers favorites as well. Very knowledgeable and friendly. If you don’t wanna talk to anyone, they do have written little postcard recommendations about books on the bookshelves. They have an amazing kid section that I would’ve loved when I was little. For such a small store, they try and pack every genre.

Weird place. Still playing COVID with their mask requirements like it's still 2020. It's a shame cause I do like their products but their militant attitude turned me off. I'll find another bookstore.

I’ve been an enthusiastic patron of Women and Children First since 1981, the year I moved to Chicago. Its curated shelves are never less than stellar and it has been an active beacon of light in the community since the doors opened.
