Canceling was a nightmare. I went to the desk in person a month ago and was told they couldn't help me cancel. My Month to month Contract said 1 month notice by letter or manager on site to cancel. At front desk they gave me a business card and asked me to call it I was put on hold for quite a while and eventually. I was billed two more months without going at all then spoke to my bank who put a stop payment in. WLAC demanded payment for another month $80 + $20 late fee and said If I didn't pay they would Continue to bill me and then send me to collections. It was Ben Easington I worked with. He said it was immaterial that I hadn't been at the gym in 3 months. Ben Easington intentionally obfuscated the cancelation process and lied about contract terms i.e. that I couldn't cancel via someone physically at the club while I am there. Nightmare. I recommend Midtown or Equinox instead.

The gym itself is great but management is a representation of the gym.Today 03-22/23 at 10:02am I was approached my Jennifer in the ladies locker room sauna. She informed me that the sauna rules state no outside clothing worn in the sauna. I was wearing a sports bra, sweat band and leggings. I responded okay and was gathering my towel. She opened the door less than 2 secs again as I was in a standing position gathering my towel. She repeated herself again and I responded that I could hear and understand her I needed to get my things. As I exited the sauna door she stood in front of the door way/path of exiting and proceeded to tell me the rules again as if I was not listening to her the first time. After dressing I went to the front desk to ask for management and she was at the desk with a smile saying she was the manager. I let her know that the way in her tone and approach of me in the sauna was targeted and harassing. She never apologized to acknowledged her treatment towards a member (almost over a year and referring customer).I really love this gym but the representation of racial profiling and targeting is inappropriate. My privacy and feeling safe is completely violated. Understanding rules and enforcing is one thing and can be done in a clear manner. Jennifer’s way of handling enforcement of rules should be evaluated considering the representation of the Chicago Athletics Clubs.

My wife has been a member of WLAC a year now and she encouraged me to join as a member. Unfortunately, today she was targeted by WLAC management (Jennifer). My wife was asked to leave the sauna due to her wearing outside clothing. She abided the request without hesitation. Management requested her to leave the sauna again as my wife gathered her things to leave the sauna, as if she wasn’t in the process of exiting the sauna. WLAC management waited at the sauna door awaiting my wife to exit the sauna, which at this moment is harassment. Jennifer reminded my wife a third time as she exited the sauna; no outside clothing. WLAC manager, Jennifer, displayed poor leadership in this situation. Jennifer did not offer an alternative to meet the rules of the Sauna; such as offering to stay in the sauna if outside clothing is removed. Jennifer could have provided a friendly reminder after my wife left the sauna. Instead, Jennifer chose a passive aggressive approach, resulting in an uncomfortable situation for all parties involved. My wife was the only person using the sauna at the time. It makes me wonder why did Jennifer feel the need to address my wife in that aggressive manner. I am highly disappointed WLAC management. There are respectful methods to reinforce rules of WLAC. Jennifer simply lacked the motivation, possibly the altitude to do so. I truly hope this issue can/will be resolved quickly.

He took the encounter report and said he knows Jennifer and would follow up. I really love this gym but the representation of racial profiling and targeting is inappropriate. Understanding rules and enforcing is one thing and can be done in a clear manner. Jennifer's way of handling enforcement of rules should be evaluated considering the representation of the Chicago Athletics Clubs.

I canceled my membership in may of 2022 in person. Turned in my swipe card personally. Although I did not see the email that was sent to me- because it wasn’t through a west loop athletic club email- it was a personal email informing me they would need written consent of my cancellation- even though I showed in person. Apparently this policy isn’t even used today. So even though I don’t have the key to get into the gym I’ve been billed this entire time. Furthermore- the original membership ended in Oct of 2022. So I guest the membership was automatically renewed without notice after that time as well. After reading other people had similar problems- I really wouldn’t risk joining this gym. I don’t even know if I can get any of this money back. This is ridiculous.

Large, lots of equipment and variety. I’ve been a member since 2018. The facilities are super clean. The maintenance / housekeeping staff work very hard, it’s obvious, and are super friendly. Thank you! Sauna and steam room are clutch during chi-winters. They also have a hot tub and large lap pool. Great value I’d say!

Crowded in the morning with little no no chance of getting a bench, squat rack, and/or machines. Their contracts a re slightly predatory.Their billing is very predatory. Tried to cancel so I called and was told I would be sent a document to start the process. Never received it so I called my credit card company to cancel it. Months later I find out they kept charging me after canceling. Called the athletic club which directed me to a collections company. From their it was an endless loop (no pun intended) of no help.Careful with this one.

This is an extremely well-maintained, organized, and friendly facility that has many options for physical exercise. There are tons of cardio options, an outstanding machine inventory, and a beautiful pool with a jacuzzi. Cannon is an excellent employee to work with and takes time to make all members feel welcome. I hope this gym continues to thrive in the West Loop and expand to other neighborhoods.

If you are a fan of loud cell phone talkers in all workout areas and being verbally assaulted if you politely ask someone to talk somewhere else then this is the gym for you.

1. Working hours are not convenient.2. Everything is old3. A lot of things out of order4. Running machines are old and do not have any support. When you running it feels like an asphalt.5. Sauna is too small, old and does not warm up well.6. Steaming room is too small and always busy, unless you come at 5 am.7. $89 per month( it does not worth these money).

It is 2022 almost 2023, and they are still operating at pandemic hours! What kind of gym in a major city still closes at 9 pm M-Th, 8 pm Fri, and 7 pm Sat-Sun. There are gyms back to 24/7, and this place is still closing so early!Blink fitness which is $10 a month is opened to 11pm, this place can afford an extra 2 hours. The front staff rarely ever smiles, greets, or says goodbye. I know it’s a minimum wage job but I’ve had better service at McDonald’s. The ones here are the least friendly of all the CAC locations. It’s odd they do not respond to any reviews, shows how much they care, as much as their front “welcoming" desk.
