This thrift store has a decent selection of items and their prices are okay, depending on what you’re looking for anyway. My biggest issues are the cleanliness of the store and the smell. Nothing is organized, many items are just thrown on top of each other (the books and toys sections are the worst), and it always smells like a gas leak every time I come here. I can never shop for more than 20 minutes because I start feeling lightheaded from the gas smell (primarily in the back by the housewares and miscellaneous stuff).They also need to do something about their tag/pricing system with the “no tag, no sale” rule. If something has no tag, they’ll refuse to sell it to you and make you come back the next day to purchase it. But there were times when I’ve come back the next day, the item still didn’t have a price on it, and they just priced it in front of me right there and then. Why couldn’t they have done that the day before instead of making me take the bus all the way back to their store just to price the item in front of me anyway? They could have just given me a random price the day before when I was checking out. Not everyone can drive or has a car, so when that happens, it’s extremely inconvenient for me.

Great place for shoes, jeans, pants, and sweaters. T-shirts are a nightmare to go through. I usually only shop the men’s section as the women’s is littered with fast fashion (Shein, fashion nova, H&M, etc).

I went to the Village Sunday because of the 3 for $1 VIP Program. First let me explain that I was religious about going to the Village esp on Tuesday, Buy One get one free based on color of the week. And last week I went after not being there for a while and there were no colors of the week on the rack. Me and another customer surmised that the Village was only hanging the WHITE full price tags on the rack, not the colors where we could get the discount.I went there yesterday specifically for the 3 for $1 based on the colors of the week which were blue, yellow & pink. I pulled down a lot of the colors and when I got to the cash register he said ONLY the blue and yellow were 3 for $1. Not the pink. But the sign at the door did NOT specifically say what colors were eligible for the discount.When I got home I wrote the owner they should make it clear what colors are eligible. Otherwise it was false advertising. They are very shady with the pricing at the Village, so you have to be very diligent.

As someone who worked here several years ago as a manager and head cashier, the reviews are spot on. This place will suck the soul out of the employees and at times, try to rob you blind. 2 starts because if they arent robbing you blind, they are pricing stuff more than fairly. Also keep a close eye on your things, homeless people often come in to shoplift or pickpocket.

Carmen is a great employee. Really enjoyed shopping here today. She showed me everything I wanted to see behind counter and was really nice about it. Some village discount outlets that I go to the employees act annoyed when I ask to see something. Thank you Carmen for making my day today..look forward to shopping here again. She also explained the sales colors to me and how it works. When i asked at a different village discount outlet, the lady didn't know...

Got my purse stolen here. The purse was cheap, but inside I had my phone, louis vuitton wallet, about $100 in cash, and my cards. The thief spent about $1000 on my cards as well before I could get home to cancel them. The only person who could’ve done it was an old lady who approached me saying I was the same size as her niece and she wanted to compare a shirt to my body frame. Had me turn around to compare it to my back side for just five seconds and in the meantime must’ve somehow swiped my bag that was hiding under my jacket. She must’ve been watching me the moment I entered the store because I had placed my bag under my jacket in the shopping cart right after I entered the store, and the interaction wasn’t until maybe 20-30 minutes later.Looking back I think she was working with another person to distract me because another lady was looking at the racks really close to me at the same moment so I was also distracted wondering why this lady was shopping so close to me. This all happened to me in the last row of clothing.Cashier at the register told me it happens ALL the time to customers. Yet somehow the store barely has any cameras to try to catch these thieves so the theft was not caught in action. I love thrifting to save money, but coming here costed me more money than I’ve ever saved from thrifting.

This place jeans/pants section is organized for easy shopping unlike most places so I love that about this place but this place is oddly priced sometimes it’s almost laughable like i seen an shein shirt priced at 8 dollars like what? Then an over used jacket (forget the brand)for $35 but yeah besides that it’s a typical thrift shop hit and miss and the layout is nice.

this village discount is one of my favorite thrift stores on the north side. i always get some great deals there with the colored tag discounts. today green pink and orange tags were half off. got a few t-shirt’s and some nice jackets all for $16.my only pain of going to this place is the lack of organization. it isn’t ordered by size. everything is mixed in the sections which makes it difficult to find things in your size

I came here today and wasted 4 hours of my time. So, at the checkout they took away half of the things that I chose. I was told that the price has changed. Please put a price tag so that things are not picked up at the checkout. I didn't like it at all. I do not recommend this place, you will waste your time.
