We’ve seen most of the vets here over the years and they are all great with our dog. Easy to make routine appointments and usually flexible enough to get us in for any emergencies that come up.

The vets have been lovely, but as of now I don’t trust the business as a whole.
They ran out of our dog’s medicine, so we took his prescription to another pharmacy. I was shocked when we were charged only $25 at walgreens, as we’d been paying $125 for the same meds at Pets First. I feel like we’ve been taken advantage of- my family has wasted hundreds of dollars buying his meds at Pets First. They’ve also sold us heart worm medication that was labeled “sample: not for individual sale.”
Their business practices have been predatory, and I wouldn’t return if our senior dog didn’t need such serious care from our established providers.

We’ve been taking our dogs here for over 7 years and everyone at Pets First has consistently been great! We have mostly seen Dr. Mitchell but also a few different vet techs, and everyone is compassionate and kind. Whenever I’ve had a small question or needed to refill medication, it’s been an easy and straightforward process, and they always get back to me quickly whether over email or phone.
Thank you for all that you do, Pets First staff!

I’ve used Pets First for years and I do really like the doctors. However, the staff who recently have begun answering the phones are extremely rude. A simple question is met with an attitude that is very uncalled for.

Came here with what I thought was a healthy cat. They should have suggested a senior cat screening. Months later I’m at the hospital with a dying cat. What did I pay $180 for

Pets First was my first choice in vets when I was looking for our new/first puppy Duncan. And man am I so happy we chose them! Before I explain how wonderful they are, their office is always clean, professional, caring, helpful and our little guy is always happy to see his friends at the office! We unfortunately had a tough start with our puppy Duncan (a French bulldog). I noticed some dizzy spells he was having and immediately took him to the vet. Our vet at the time Dr. Matt took immediate action and knew exactly what the issue was. Our boy was anemic and needed a blood transfusion fast! Pets First sent us to the best hospital that gave our little guy the best treatment and worked together to help get our boy back to a healthy place. This was something that lasted a full year and although it was so exhausting and emotional and scary Pets First and Doctors Matt and our current vet Dr. Mitchell really helped us through it all. We owe Pets First so much for saving our little guy. Happy to say our little guy is now 3 and just so healthy and happy! Pets First always shows up for us and our dog. They follow up whenever we have a question or if there is ever something they want to check up on they make sure to contact us and check in. Really wonderful vet office! I couldn't be more happy with my choice to make Pets First our main vet office. And all the Vets and staff there are just an amazing team! Highly recommend!!

We’ve had our dog for 9.5 years and lived so many different places and had so many different vets, and Pets First is by far our favorite we’ve ever had.
They are so kind, compassionate and professional. Every single person who works there is friendly and goes out of their way to show that they genuinely care about our dog’s wellbeing.
I can’t recommend the team at Pets First enough. You can’t go wrong here.

Personally my favorite vet in Chicago tbh, amazing vets and my dog is pretty calm there. They also vaccinate in front of you :) my other vet did not do that, I appreciate being able to see the vet work with my dog and not behind closed doors.

I’ve been with Pet’s First since they opened their doors. Dr. C is the most compassionate vet I have ever encountered. She’s been with me through brain tumors, cushing’s disease, and severe allergies. I love her holistic approach to medicine. Dr. Mitchell is also amazing. The staff are helpful, friendly and attentive. The prices for a Chicago veterinarian are reasonable and they will talk to you honestly about costs. I would never take my dog anywhere else.

Pets First is wonderful, from reception to vet techs to the amazing Dr. C, Hoover and I were treated kindly and patiently from start to finish. Dr C answered all my questions, examined her from head to toe, and gave good suggestions without judgment or scare tactics. We started my senior dog on a new regimen, and she has never been healthier and happier. Hoover and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Dr C and Pets First!

I've been coming to Pets First for about three years now. The first year~ of care for our three pets was excellent, with Dr. C and Dr. Mitchell taking good care of our animals and giving detailed recommendations when any issues arose.
Since then, it's been a different experience. Every time I call I feel like I'm passed around to 3-4 different people before ever getting an answer. Something as simple as refilling heartworm medication has taken multiple trips to the office and conversations with staff, and unless I am physically in front of the doctor, it's nearly impossible to have our questions answered. Additionally, there seems to be no continuity between doctors - each of the last three visits we've had, we've been scheduled with someone different without mentioning it ahead of time.
The practice has excellent doctors but it is too difficult to get through the front desk bureaucracy to speak to someone about potential issues and concerns. In many cases, by the time a message has been relayed to the doctor, it's been misinterpreted through several rounds of "telephone."
I work in the medical field and recognize that there are rules, but this is easily the largest amount of hoops I've had to jump through to get care for my pets before.

Absolutely phenomenal. I found a senior stray cat, Popcorn, last year with some health problems -- I couldn't find a vet to take her on but Pets First moved everything to help her. She was 13/14 when I got her and we only had a year together. We were pretty frequent guests, and every single person we interacted with on staff was kind, knowledgable, and was enamored by the animals they worked with. My budget was limited and they were respectful of costs--they even waived the cost of some x-rays when they were concerned about her hip and knew I didn't have the means to cover the full workup. When it was time to say goodbye to Popcorn last week, the entire team at Pets First was so empathetic and compassionate. Popcorn was treated with so much love, and they gave me that same care as they helped me through the experience of letting her go. Thank you to the entire team at Pets First for making my cat's last year a great one. When I adopt another fur baby, I will be back.
