It’s seems like every time I need something I go to Home Depot down the street and NEVER get the help I need and employees there usually don’t care and/or don’t know anything and rarely do they have whatever item I need.Whaler Brothers ALWAYS saves the day for me. Everything I’ve needed is there and they’re happy to help till the job is done.Support these guys! They’re the best in the hardware business!

Behind a sterile, stone fortress facing Halsted Avenue in Chicago is this genuine, classic, old-timey hardware store. The kind where you find the old time hardware guys who know what they're talking about, where you can get traditional real customer service and you can find stuff nobody else sells. Not many around any more. I didn't spend a lot of time there. Was walking idly past and had needed a bucket. (Yeah, just a bucket.) Walked in, saw exactly what I was looking for just inside the door, paid and left. A little pricey for the thing, but then this is Lincoln Park. Glad I stopped in and will definitely return when the need arises.

The. Best.Forget about Home Depot down the street! Walk in here, tell them what you’re looking for, and they’ll set you up with everything you need in no time (for a great price, too!) They even gave me an amazing recommendation for a contractor when I needed extra help. Great service.

Went in with a vintage door knob that had a stripped set screw and stripped thread. The two gentlemen helped clean out the thread and find the right replacement screws. Very nice! Will be coming back!

I originally went to a big box store looking for Strom door fasteners and surprisingly they didn't carry the ones I needed. Drove a half a block down to Wahler's and purchased exactly what I needed.
