“Always find something when we stop in! I love all brown elephant locations but the Andersonville location is really quite spectacular, the building is so cool! Lexi and the rest of the staff are super nice, helpful, and run a wonderful shop!”
“really cute little place. they have tons of vintage clothes that are organized by color. i found lots of things that you don’t see most places. there are lots of knick knacks packed in, as well.”
“Really nice thrift store with very reasonable prices, which is weirdly hard to find these days. Good selection of items, I always find some cute clothes or little household items here. Staff is friendly. Fitting "rooms" are a tad small and are really just large shower curtain type things with signs on them, but not a huge deal just a bit of a surprise if you're not expecting it. My preferred thrift store in the area.”
“Great selection & great prices! Bought two shirts and a dress from there today and I absolutely love them! The dress is perfect for an upcoming wedding I’m attending in a couple of weeks. The staff were nice, and making donations were souped easy. To make a donation, you enter through the front and walk to the back right corner to drop off your items. Brown Elephant has tops, pants, shoes, accessories, formal attire, home goods, and various medias such as vinyl records, movies and books. Can’t wait to go back to see what I find next time!”
“Such a cool little place! I went by and the woman working there was super friendly and helpful, and was so fun to talk with. I found a cute pair of boots, belt, some craft supplies, and even a set of utensils at a great price! If you want to thrift primarily for clothes, I would say you might have a harder time (they have really unique pieces, which is awesome, but it’s just a small selection), but if you want anything else, they have such a neat selection of items. Kitchenware, jewelry, scarves, kids toys, pottery, fancy teacups, yarn, lace, buttons, and a bunch of other fun knickknacks. The awesome staff means I’ll definitely be back to check out what new stuff they have in the future!”

2517 W 59th St, Chicago“Hands down my favorite Black owned Thrift store! You can’t beat these prices. The owner Jeremy is awesome and he has a great staff as well. You can find men & women’s wear, small housewares and beauty products carried in store (from other businesses). That’s not all, he has a beautiful space he rents out for your event needs. Definitely a place to put on your list to shop, and have a party too.”
“I have visited here a few times. The first time I didn't understand the pricing as I thought it was too good of a deal. The sign near the front, has the colors (of the tag) and prices assigned to that color. Had I understood that the first couple of times, I'd have loaded up. I'm kicking myself for not asking the employee!
It may be just me, but I found some great items every time! My friend who was visiting me, also did as well. She ended up with 2 gently used designer handbags, beautiful sunglasses and a bag full of really nice clothes all for under a $100! It's also a really nice looking, very clean, organized store, good music playing in the background and super nice staff. I'm waiting for it to open right now to hopefully scoop up some more sweet deals.”
“Always stop by here when I am in the area. One of the best thrift stores I have been too. Always clean and organized. You can go every day because there is always new stuff out!”
“Brand name items like Ralph Lauren. A lot still new with tags. Items I got averaged out to ~$10/piece. Wish there was a bit larger plus section. If you wear 2X+, may not find much in your size.”
“The store manager was helpful and kind. She shared different content creators online to get inspiration from. I will definitely be returning with my mom to show her the place as well.”
“I’ve been going here for years, I never leave empty handed. The owner has great taste, and the staff is always so friendly! This is a great place to find unique gifts or house hold items, and the clothes are cool too!!”
“A very cute thrift shop! Definitely smaller than most, but there were so many wonderful items I saw! I spotted lots of nice dress shirts (even some Brooks Brothers!) and ended up snagging a pair of vintage Calvin Klein jeans for $1.62! The folks inside were friendly and there's one fitting room to try clothes on in!”
“My favorite thrift store! So well organized and clean and the staff is amazing. Every time I come in with my daughter we leave with lots of treasures and a big smile on our faces. Great cause too. ❤️”
“Accidentally ran into this store and found HomeDepot overstock at a great discount. Owner and staff are very helpful. I have saved hundreds through tile, cabinets, bathtubs, light fixtures and plumbing. Recommend this store when ready to start a home project or just Worth a visit, you never know what shipment of goods have arrived.”
“This thrift store is AMAZING. They price the items fairly and it has a great selection. I wear 3X and I was able to find cute items including 2 halloween dresses (a month back) and a couple of cute long sleeve shirts. The volunteer Diamond was so helpful...Thank you Diamond! I will def be back and I highly recommend you check it out as well!”

“I saw this place randomly as I drove by, and decided to stop. Extremely glad I did. I found a really nice jacket, and a bunch of little stuff to give as additional Christmas gifts. The folks at the desk were helpful and engaging, and even random customers started conversation and gave advise. Saved in my favorites, I will be back in the new year!”
“I absolutely love this place! So many quality items to choose from. I literally can stay in this shop all day! I love the associates as well. They are very friendly and knowledgeable about the items being sold!”

“Always excited to bring something new snd nostalgic to my home and the feel of the hood where I grew up esp. ! ACKERMANNery Bakery. ALWAYS got My free sugar cookie when I came on Sat. Mornings to pick up fresh goodies for my mom. Better more peaceful times. You certainly wudnt send ur 7 y.o. alone to store these days however ur staff needs to stop following the customer and making them feel uncomfortable and policing the mask. Thank you”
“Great thrift store, very clean and well organized (clothing is arranged by color). They do have % off deals on different color tags, and the best part, they have fitting rooms! My favorite thrift store so far in the city.”
9AM - 7PM
1201 W Washington Blvd, Chicago“I wanted to write on some issues mentioned in reviews Yes it is a smaller store where parking is limited. YOU ARE IN THE 3RD LARGEST CITY ON THE US. Of course it's not going to be like the burbs. Goodwill are not "owned" as one reviewer said. Check out Charity Navigator (they monitor charities)..Goodwill has an excellent rating. As far as the "selection" it's based on what people donate. This is not a department store with a buyer..get it? As far as people saying there are long lines with employees standing around. They are probably stockers/organizers. Smh that people want a non profit to be run like Bloomingdales”
“I love this thrift store; they have great, organized stuff, and most of their staff members are kind. Nevertheless, it would be great if their clothing items were priced.”
“My sister and I saw this place while driving down the street and we had to stop. There are so many nice, quality pieces in here. It's a treasure hunt and the owner is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back.”
“Amazing store. I was able to find all the characters from Toy Story for my son’s birthday. Definitely will be coming back for all my sons action figure needs: they have Spider-Man, Batman, teenage mutant ninja turtles and soo much more! Highly recommend”
