World-class art you can spend a day or more exploring. Only negative was that many of the gallery staff felt entitled to walk around with an AirPod in one ear having an ongoing personal phone conversation, in otherwise silent galleries. To be clear, this was not their walkie-talkie radios used for work, those were in the other ear! Management needs to cut the crap.

I liked the architecture of the older wing, and they had some pretty good art too.

The Chicago Institute of Art is, without a doubt, the best art museum I’ve ever visited. The way the pieces are curated is nothing short of perfection, making each exhibit a joy to explore.
The staff at the museum were incredibly kind and welcoming. I had a delightful conversation with a lady and gentleman in the gift shop about my love for the teal lion logo—they were both so jovial, which added to the experience.
The museum itself is massive, so be sure to plan for a few hours to take it all in. And a word to the wise—wear comfortable walking shoes, as there’s a lot to see and you’ll be on your feet for a while.
If you’re an art lover or just someone who appreciates a well-curated collection, the Chicago Institute of Art is a must-visit.

The curatorial choices for the Georgia O'Keefe show are amazing, the wall cuts, the long views, the surprise views, and so many thoughtful choices that added up into an incredible show ? ?
I also loved all the statuary from different periods and the miniatures rooms.

It is a very large and comprehensive museum, but I thought it was boring. I didn't like it.

Could there have been a more perfect day to take the South Shore from Northwest Indiana into the Loop for a lecture and to walk through the galleries of the Art Institute of Chicago? The guides and docents of the Institute were at their chipper best and, though the crowd was fairly large this day, no one was in the mood to speed you up if you cared to slow down and stop to contemplate a particular piece of artwork. The lecture on the current Georgia O'Keeffe exhibition and my subsequent viewing of it this day renewed the awe I have of artistic talent and my appreciation for the Art Institute of Chicago.

First art museum I had ever been to, and it was honestly really incredible to see snapshots of our history on each wall. Staff was very professional, and it was a very quiet environment, which left time to think about each piece in peace. All in all, I'd go back.

In a city full of incredible museums, only the art institute is non-optional

Wow. The highlight of our trip to Chicago. We spent four hours wandering around, and would have stayed longer if we didn't have dinner reservations. Recommend using the "what to see in one hour" guide on the visitor map to get around a lot of the museum, but stopping at whatever strikes your fancy. Some parts of the museum are not well connected to other parts (modern wing, Chagall windows, temporary exhibition), so make sure you've seen all floors you want in a section before moving on. Impressionists were our favorite but Georgia O'Keefe temporary exhibition was also stellar.

Let's get the bad out of the way first: Baby bottles are considered outside food are not permitted. You will not be allowed to bring them in to feed your little one. Infants and toddlers are required to buy from their resturant instead. Unfortunately, their restaurant sells cow milk but not baby formula. Haven't been anywhere else where babies were required to buy from the venue, so this is worth pointing out if breastfeeding isn't enough for your little one. It's an oddity to me and probably will be for other parents as well, and could be a potential safey issue.
Good: other than that it's a well stocked Museam that's worth going to. Large and even has an app to help find your way around if there's something you want to see.
The staff was very friendly to me, though my non-white family members had a bit of issues with how they were treated when they were by themselves (see the aforementioned baby bottle incident as an example of how my family members of color get treated differently than me by security when no one white is with them)
