I was shocked to see the review about the smell, but I was even more shocked when I opened my door and there was a strong fragrance most likely air freshener. The smell was overwhelming. Service is just ok. Its my second time staying here and the first time was a much better experience. Requested tea, but room service never brought it. Would not recommend, but it it was not a horrible experienceRooms: Nice but not luxuryWalkability: Great location

Kimpton hotel service is impeccable, plus they allow you to check in with any of your furry friends. The hotel is well kept and the staff remains professional under pressure. Also, the attached restaurant has a tasty brunch menu and friendly wait staff. Best turn down service ever, be sure to tip the housekeeper. This location is great for shopping downtown and seeing a Broadway in Chicago show.

Please, never go to this hotel. First and most importantly, it stinks. It literally has such a bad smell from the moment you enter the lower level, to the hallways on all floors of the hotel. The carpet looks extremely old and smells like mold and has a sewer smell to it. We booked this hotel through Expedia and paid for a Deluxe type of room. The room and the bathroom were so extremely small that my husband asked to see an upgraded room. When we viewed it, it was a bigger space, but with the same bathroom size. And guess what? It also smelled like mold. That room was $60 more, but they said they would fit us in for the initial price if we left a good review online. My husband asked if the water bottles were complimentary and they said yes. But when we checked out, they wanted to charge us $60 for a "DESTINATION FEE", which included the 2 complimentary water bottles, a bottle of wine, gym, printer and amenities. Very misleading! They decided to wave that fee as new families were checking In next to us at the front desk. In fact, we knew about this b/c my husband started checking the reviews online before our check-out day with complaints about the same fee.We deeply regret staying at the hotel, we later realized we could've paid the same money for a better hotel in the area. And for some reason, we were itchy all night long while sleeping. Is it even safe to stay at a hotel that stays like toxic mold?I would give ZERO stars to this place, but unfortunately, that's not an option. For the Record ,The female receptionist was very polite and did her very best to accommodate our stay. We give her and her only 5 stars.

Interior is really pretty. Right next door to the theater which would be nice if you go there. Location is good. Front desk lady that checked us in had the worst attitude and not approachable. My husband called prior to our arrival regarding parking. The person that answered, He was not helpful whatsoever. Then, in the morning I tried to call to get a late check out. The phone didn’t work, tried calling them on my cellphone and the line didn’t work either. Minor inconveniences but, for the money I could’ve stayed somewhere else a little nicer.

Quinn, the doorman downstairs was awesome. He knew everything and was so helpful and honest. I had a great conversation with him late at night and instead of telling me to go away, he was there to listen and help me out. That guy made my hotel stay a better one by showingcme how to get to the nearest 7/11 to buy cigarettes. Your hotel has the best staff I've seen at any hotel.

They charge a $30 "Destination Fee" when you check out, in other words a hidden cost that you don't find out about until after you book your room and receive their "courtesy email", avoid!!!

Just had the opportunity to stay here for a work trip. The hotel is absolutely beautiful. The service was amazing and my interactions with everyone were lovely. The room was small but expected, and it was fairly well laid out. I would have liked some streaming options on the TV but that's such a minor thing. I will definitely stay here again - location is perfect for a business traveller with offices on Wacker.Safety: Room key has to be scanned to get to to the room floors, people everywhere.Walkability: easy walk to everywhere

I’m here now and I’m not pleased. The rooms are small and dark with old, chipped furniture. They don’t have a smart tv so you can’t sign into streaming option and very limited cable channels. Im doing a staycation and I’m considering just going home. I will never stay here
