Don’t come here to shop, they make money from towing your car regardless. Let these kind of business close down.

employees more concerned about letting the towing company know that someone walked off from parking instead of providing customer service.
All my school supplies shopping was done from staples but not anymore. My car was not towed but I could see someone's car getting towed within 2 mins of being parked there after the staples guy let the towing driver to immediately come over.

Male employee at the copy and print center today around 11:50 am was very unpleasant. He has an attitude as soon as you walk up to the counter and is rude to you throughout the transaction. Based on other reviews, it sounds like other customers have had the same issue with this employee (Ricardo). It’s a shame because this was a fine store otherwise and other employees were pleasant (the young lady at the checkout counter was so helpful and positive). Hopefully Staples actually manages this issue with Ricardo - otherwise I’m sure people will take their business elsewhere. I know I will.

Either Chase or Staples (possibly both), running a classic “patrolling”towing scheme. This scheme usually involves a spotter, could be the tow truck driver him/herself or a paid third-person, catching any drivers who did not enter both establishments and then towing them within minutes. And it is a pretty clear scheme considering my car was towed within 2 minutes of me leaving.
It is illegal? Possibly. Under Illinois Vehicle Code 625 ILCS 5/4-203, commercial towing companies need to fill out proper paperwork and notify law enforcement of a tow within 30 minutes of the towing. However, more digging needs to be done on how this scheme is been implemented and if there are any kickbacks involved between the establishments and Rokaitis Industries (the employed commercial towing company). Regardless, all of this process is somewhat hard to accomplish within minutes, so I doubt Rokaitis Industries follows the strict legal procedures prescribed by the state law.
That begs the second question, is it unethical? Without a doubt in my humble opinion. There is many ways a private business can prevent cars parked illegally by taking correct measures before issuing the tow. “Patrolling” towing also preys upon financially vulnerable individuals as people without power tend to be more reserved when it comes to confrontational issues with authorities and legalities. Towing any parked car should be the last resort for any establishments and something to be done if the car has been unaccounted for for a long duration of time. Sadly, the state of Illinois continues to have weak legislative laws against bandit towing (unlike California that requires a car to be towed off a private property after an hour or longer stay). Additionally, there is insufficient signage within the parking lot that warns drivers of a possible toll as the only few signs that are available are all minuscule and shoved away in the corners of the parking lot.
Looking back at all of the negative comments, it seems like this scheme has been going on for a minimum of four years. While it is difficult to pinpoint the legality of this issue, since it is a private lot, victims should no doubt contact the towing company at first (don’t get your hopes up, expect typical scammer attitude) and file complaints accordingly to the ICC and your local alderman. More importantly, avoid this parking lot and the businesses at all times since there are also many victims who had their car towed despite showing evidence of themselves conducting business within the proper establishments. Better not to use this location and avoid the hassle if you can.

Your car will be STOLEN from Staples parking lot by local towing company regardless if you shopping there or not!!! Mine was stolen (towed) on Saturday 03/30/24 around 10:30 in the morning. When I called Towing company, lady over the phone have said, quote "we saw you walking across the street" Are you being serious ?!? Are you spying on customers!? There was a bagger with a child asking for change there (probably work for them) and security from Chase bank (next door) also walking around the area, probably in sort of a deal with Tow company, idk. Tow truck is waiting around the corner, for a phone call or text and than steal the car from the lot. I've tried to explain my situation to a lady from tow company, even offer my receipt as a proof that I concluded business with store, but she didn't care while kept repeating where the car is located (20 min drive to the south). This is easily text book organized crime scheme and the management of Staples should be ashamed of this! Malicious practices like this one must be avoided at all costs!!! And that's why Chicago tops the list of most corrupt cities in the Country year after year!

WARNING! DO NOT PARK if you are not planning to go to Staples or Chase. They run a scheme seems like with a Towing Company and your car will be towed within minutes. They watch everyone on camera if you walk away from the parking lot. Never have I seen so many cars towed on a regular basis as I live close by . I think it’s unethical to run a scheme like that and someone is definitely profiting from this. Just want to warn everybody!

Just called store to ask some questions regarding a printing project I am working on. Employee answered first couple questions then told me he had to go… This is not how it is supposed to work? I feel like I should have been able to ask all my questions, they were very specific questions too as not to waste any of the employees time. Quite frustrating

I was a bit scared of going to this place after reading the reviews. I called in advance to get a feeling of the customer service and I was not disappointed. Amber answered me with kindness. I got to the store and she was nice and super helpful with my printings. As I waited, I observed how patient and proactive she was with two elderly customers.
I proceeded to ask help to customer service and again was well served. The cashier was super polite and nice.
I told Amber I would give her a review here and that’s what I am doing. To the entire team working on Feb 10/2024, thank you!
Whoever is the manager now, please hire more people like them! ?
Thanks Amber!
