We used Shalimar Photography for my son's high school senior photos and loved how Shalimar worked with us to find the perfect site and vibe for the photo shoot. She encouraged my son to dress as comfortably as possible and brought out his personality on film. We are so pleased with the results. The scheduling was straightforward as was the prep and day of plans. We received our proofs so quickly and we would use Shalimar again. 10/10 recommend.

Shalimar created an amazing experience for our high school senior photo shoot. She includes the smallest details from "personalized treats" to a last minute family photo. We had an action packed afternoon in Chicago going from one location to the next, all chosen by our city kid. The finished product is amazing. I couldn't be happier with the experience and the beautiful framed photos of my daugher. Glad I seized the day.

Recommended by a friend and we are so happy we found Shalimar Photography. Senior pictures for our daughter was an amazing experience from start to finish and we could not be happier with the results. Shalimar is not only a great photographer but understands teenagers and parents, striking a great balance communicating with both. We have beautiful original photos of our daughter that captured her personality and documented some of her favorite places in Chicago. Highly recommend to anyone looking for great photos and a wonderful experience.

Shalimar, I have been wanting to tell you how much Charlotte (and I!) enjoyed her senior session. You are wonderful! I saw all Charlotte’s nervousness melt away as the day went on and she was in such high spirits afterward - she LOVED the experience so so much. We had such a wonderful experience with Shalimar. It started as a question about whether my shy senior was the right fit for senior portraits. She asked some simple questions that led us to pass on that and instead embrace some very casual photos of the family at home. She rolled with it when we let the kids wear whatever they wanted. Photos are a perfect capture of our family on a day in the fall of 2023. She a kid/teen whisperer and gets the best casual smiles out of them. Thank you!

If you're looking for newborn photos, Shalimar is the best! She was very easy to work with and flexible with our baby's schedule. The photos were great--candid shots that looked real and captured the essence of our family, no canned poses of babies as flowers or fruit.

Out-of-state parent here (Oregon).My daughter had a 'belated' Senior photo shoot as she was H.S. Junior when the pandemic began (and life was complicated for a while). Found Shalimar via Googling, and besides her bright, bold, brilliant and engaging style photography that I was looking for my daughter, Shalimar offered makeup and hair!!My daughter's Senior photos were scheduled within one month -- I appreciate her willingness to do an outdoor shoot mid-December (as mom had to have a Chicago skyline shot!), and take care of my daughter as if her own.Prior to my daughter's photo shoot day Shalimar sent a questionnaire to her to learn more about my daughter's personality, likes, etc. which in turn Shalimar was able to offer suggestions for clothing, etc. and catch my daughter's character and personality best in her photos.Enjoyed the sneak peek. Shalimar met with me and my daughter (who lives 45 min SW of Chicago) via Zoom a few weeks later so she wouldn't have to drive back and we enjoyed perusing the photos together -- I even teared up a little (and I'm not one to do that!).Received the photos back today by email and couldn't be happier with my experience. Thank you, Shalimar! I will definitely keep you in mind for the future and anyone who needs a Chicago photographer!

She took my senior photos and I could not be happier with the results! As someone who is nervous being photographed Shalimar made sure I felt comfortable and confident and was able to show that in the photos. We took photos in studio as well as places I wanted. She helped me feel really beautiful for my special year!

Shalimar took the best pictures I’ve ever had taken in my life for my senior pics! She had tons of great ideas for spots around the city to take pictures- and my studio pics were my ultimate favorite! I’m insecure about pictures and she made me feel super comfortable and beautiful. Shalimar makes an effort to get to know you before your session so she really captures who you are. The book she put together for me of my favorite pictures it’s just amazing!PS- she also brings candy and snacks which is super cute! I’m telling everyone I know to get their pictures taken by her and I will never stop talking about how much I love Shalimar!

Shalimar was our first choice to take our daughter's senior pictures. I had seen her work with other families and children. Shalimar has a unique skill set or talent. She is able to capture her subjects candidly even when they are posing. My daughter's senior pictures are stunning, witty and funny. Shalimar captured all of my daughter's best traits with her camera. Furthermore, Shalimar's location choices definitely hit the mark, very "Chicago." The photos' scenery is everything that's beautiful about this city. I knew I would love her work, I was just unprepared for how much:) We are currently booking a family shoot.

We made an appointment with Shalimar for high school Senior Portraits, and she very kindly agreed to also take a few family photos for us. Shalimar worked with us to find just the right tone for the photo shoot. The photos came out beautifully! We love the final product - lighting and background were extraordinary. I had Shalimar take my daughter’s senior photos and she blew me away!! She picked up on all the “things”. I mentioned how I brought my daughter home from the hospital and the first place we sat was on our porch swing. How I couldn’t believe we were already at senior photos! So, Shalimar’s first photos were on that porch and actually got a few of the two of us on that very swing! She took photos of her on the sidewalk that she learned to walk, ride her bike, host a lemonade stand or two…all the memories wrapped up in these photos. And then explored really beautiful parts of the city that we love. Her attention to detail is unparalleled and the photos are STUNNING. Captured my daughter’s personality and love of life in every photo. We are a happy family!! Can’t wait for my son’s turn (or can I?).
