I have been a customer of Sephora for several years and have been observing a continuous decline in service quality. Today (June 3) I was at the Michigan location in Chicago and the service was poor. The staff did not know the products in skincare department. Instead of talking with you, they looked into their tech device to find something based on what I had to tell them. Two times I was still recommended the wrong product that did not match what I suggested (no fragrance please). It is obvious they have poor training, and they are not very motivated or passionate about their job - on a Monday morning. I was then talking with someone from the make up department, and she treated me as if I were their staff. Please wait here without telling me why she had to disappear - 5 minutes I didn't see her. Then I asked her a simple question for a highlighter in a travel-friendly size. She showed me one that was not travel-friendly size. When I voiced my concerns, she said: do you want to look around for yourself? I was speechless. Within 1 minute I then found a travel-friendly shimmer highlighter myself. When I asked her why she didn't show me that product, she said that it wasn't as glowy as the other that's why she didn't show me. But it seemed to me that she didn't know the products well, otherwise, she would have given me at least the option for a product that was a much smaller travel size. During the entire service, she was not friendly, with no smile, just an annoyed tired look. I felt stressed when I left the store with so little engagement and so much unfriendliness - and that by someone at a prime location. Sephora used to be different. They should hire people who get proper training and who like skincare and makeup and engaging with clients. I will not come back, and I do not recommend the experience.

The weather outside the store (the month of May) is cooler and more pleasant than inside the store!! Muffled and hot
We purchased over $500 and they gave us a gift of one product

Since you only provide the abusive and rude service to customers, this job doesn’t fit you at all! You are so uneducated and unprofessional! And stop saying “ have a good day” to the customers when you just ruined their days! You are the rudest and stupidest !

Way better! I like giving people and places second chances because we all have "off days". You never know. My very first time here, I felt so unwelcome. The women seemed very disinterested in customers and instead held a weird chat-fest in the middle of the store, avoiding eye contact and all. It was so disappointing, not to mention rude and unprofessional. HOWEVER, my last three times here, I received incredibly warm customer service and Ary even went out of her way to help me find my shade of my favorite foundation. Kayla was also helpful as well as the young lady at the register (whose name escapes me at the moment). I was also approached by another two employees and it was a VAST difference to how I was treated my first time here last summer. It was like someone in management took these reviews to heart and changed their attitude. That matters! Yes, customers can be annoying, but you chose customer service and sometimes, you can put aside your personal issues to do a good job professionally and it shows. Thanks for helping me have a wonderful few shopping experiences!

The downtown Chicago Sephora is a real gem and huge, I mean, probably one of the biggest I’ve ever stepped into. As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with an endless array of beauty products. It’s like stepping into a makeup and skincare paradise with so much to explore.
The place was buzzing with beauty enthusiasts, but what really impressed me was how fast the checkout lines moved. Major props to the staff for their efficiency! Speaking of the staff, they were super helpful and knowledgeable, always ready to offer tips and suggestions, which I totally appreciated.
Let’s talk about the samples – they were in such good shape! It’s a breath of fresh air to see well-maintained testers, especially when you’re keen to try before you buy.
What’s really cool about this store is the vibe. It’s bustling and lively, a reflection of the city’s energy. You can feel the excitement in the air as people discover new products and favorites.
If you’re ever in downtown Chicago and have a thing for beauty and skincare, you’ve got to check out this Sephora. It’s not just the size or the incredible selection of products that makes it stand out, but the whole experience – energetic, friendly, and totally on point. You’ll probably end up spending more time there than you planned, but trust me, it’s worth it!
