Disappointing experience. Their exhibit on the war of 1812 had a rifle, a pistol, four pins, and about 25 prints.

I was very excited to go to this museum to research more about my grandfather and great grandfather. Unfortunately it was a really really small war museum. I upgraded at the counter to get the membership to use the library and there were only 4 shelves of war books on location. It does come with a digital access and I guess in Wisconsin they have a larger library they can loan their books to a reciprocal library.

Pritzker’s glorification of war memorabilia and hosting an archive of military history is rooted in her upper-class’s desire for grandiosity and a high-end architectural building with her name on it. Instead of glorifying wars and spending untold trillions on the industrial military complex, or multiple millions on this weird, red metal and glass “tank inspired” museum structure in the middle of an empty farm field is just wasteful beyond all imagining. Without knowing history we are likely to repeat it, but it’s more likely that if you have billions of your own money you instead get to sit around and watch the average population send their sons and daughters off to war, while you collect “I LIKE IKE” lapel campaign buttons. “Lt. Colonel” Jennifer Pritzker (formerly James Pritzker with an honorary title of his/her actual lower sergeant ranking), never saw any war action themselves and was an aviation repair parts clerk for 3 short years. The rich whisper. Come and forget the actual events. America didn’t join WWII. Our embargoes (steel and petrol blockades), against Japanese invasion of Asian mainlands was seen as and act of war so the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor to eliminate US war ships in the Pacific that were impeding Japanese national sovereignty. It had nothing to do with the US wanting to fight Nazis.

Practically scam museum. The collection is not as magnificent as its name. Even visiting for free, I did not like there. Consider yourself paying 8 dollars!

Lots of exhibits worth seeing, everyone should take a look. The library and the entire building are beautiful, I was most captivated by the ceiling in the corridors, among other things.

Good small museum that isn't too full of stuff but enough to be interesting for a bit. It for sure isn't as popular as the bigger museums but it's worth checking out if you get a chance. The Pritzker Military Museum is a collection of artifacts from various soldiers and wars. Has artifacts such as medals. You can also use the library if you're a military personnel. Because the museum is pretty small, it won't take most people long to see everything here. It has a pretty simple layout. This is located on the second floor of a building at Michigan and Monroe. It's a $10 admission without any discounts. There's discounts for active military, students, and others. It's a small museum so also think if it as a donation. There's lots of photographs but also artifacts such as medals and uniforms. A few exhibits on POWs including one about the Hanoi Hilton. There's lots to read up on if you're interested in this kind of stuff. Check it out if you're interested in military history. It also has a library if you do research. There's also various events, programs, and other things.

Very cool experience, I learned so much about American prisoners of war. It was completely empty and quiet aside from me and my friend, so that made it peaceful and lovely. We got to read all the plaquards and information without being pushed around. and there are huge windows surrounding it with a view of the city and Milleneum Park. it is definitely small though, don't expect more than an hour of exploration time.

A nice distraction away from the cross at the AIC. The Pritzker is a military research library, which you won't have access to without a membership. That said, they currently have a notable exhibit showcasing the hardships of Prisoners of War (PoW) life.I was impressed by the presentation of the artifacts. At the beginning they provide you information about four prisoners, character developing and personalizing the experience, as you move through the exhibit. The artifacts presented then have a tie to a specific tie or relationship to the folks that you just learned about. You get to see quantified effects of the Geneva Convention to the survival rate of those prisoners whose captors stuck to the rules...and the tortuous opposite of when the captors did not. It's not a huge exhibit, but for those who have served it's a reminder about the Code of Conduct and the will and spirits of those captured. Some of the exhbits are multimedia recordings of former prisoners or their family members. You get to listen to stories, and those stories could easily be your story - on a bad day.I'm glad I stopped to check it out.

Wonderful museum devoted to those who serve...a real inspiration! Located directly across the street from the Art Institute of Chicago, in one of Chicago's many historic and beautiful buildings. I just saw the POW exhibit, Life Behind the Wire. This is such an important exhibit to see...a whole lot to really take in. We can't and won't ever forget the individuals who sacrificed their own freedom and lives so we can be free!

Lots of information, Civil War, WWI, WWII and Vietnam. A lot of personal diaries for documentation. I personally feel some information was left out, so do your own research.

My friend and I were lost in Chicago, and stumbled upon the museum. I recently finished the book ‘the things they carried’ by Tim O’ Brien so it was pretty sad to see the dog tags hanging from the ceiling. The decor is beautiful, and I will definitely be back
