Canine Social Club
5508 N Western Ave, ChicagoI take my dog, Link, there when I go out of town as I got a great review about their daycare from a coworker and he was right, they are so nice to work with. You can really tell they care about the pups there and take care of them well as the staff all know who your furry friend is and how they're doing. I know they'll take care of my little guy when I'm gone - thank you all!

Liz's Pet Shop
2403 W Chicago Ave, ChicagoWe are so fortunate to live just blocks away from Liz's!. Our galgo Suzi is happy healthy and trim, due to the guaidance and quality food we get at this store. If I'm going to opt for pricier dog food I'm happy to be supporting a local family business. It's more than customer service here it's quality customer care and education. When anyone's dog (or cat) is having difficulties potentially influenced by diet I emphatically direct them to Liz's.

Your Best Friend Pet Supply
2124 W Division St, ChicagoAbsolutely the best pet supply store in Chicago. The owner is knowledgeable and will cater to your pets' needs. Pet Wants Chicago North
5420 W Devon Ave, ChicagoGood stuff! As with Chicago Goods next door, this is a bit of a boutique gift place, but for pets! With Edgebrook being a little more fancy, this is a place that sells very fancy dog food by the weight. My dog is fine with the mass store brand one thank you, but they have a ton of awesome treats, including chew sticks. I think this is the hidden gem of this place. They have a large variety of rawhides, bully sticks, and others. You can also get a dog biscuit and a variety of other things. Like I mentioned for Chicago Goods, if you need a cool quick gift, this is also the place to be for your "friend". Everybody working here is very nice too and while the prices are a little high, you are getting good quality!

Rockstar Pets Chicago
1717 N Ashland Ave, ChicagoRockstar is incredible; it is so obvious how passionate they are about animal welfare and responsible pet ownership / caretaking. They recognize each dog as an individual being with their own personality and character, regardless of breed or age. Their playground includes something for all dogs: spaces to run around in, different textures to feel, a sensory garden, and shaded cots to rest. My dog was diagnosed with a vomiting disorder, and they did a staff training to make sure they recognized the signs and symptoms. They even remind pet owners to update vaccines and fecal samples to ensure the safety of all pets.Thank you for taking care of my baby! I know how loved he is here, and how much he loves his human and fur friends at Rockstar.

Bark Place
1775 W Greenleaf Ave, ChicagoI am so happy Bark Place is nearby. The staff is super friendly and they seem to genuinely care about the dogs. I take my dog Cali for day care periodically and she enjoys her time there. One of the best things about Bark Place is their flexibility and personal attention. One time, I wanted to use day care but I knew I wasn't able to pick her up before closing and several staff members figured out a way to take care of my dog until I could get there. I feel like they are real dog lovers and know and understand the difficulties we have making sure our pets are safe and happy. I am very grateful that Bark Place is in Rogers Park!

If your dog shed sheds, this is the place for you. Sarah is always very patient, even when my dog tries to run away and pretends she doesn’t know her. She gets every loose hair out, leaves her coat soft as teddy bear smelling amazing, and she is super quick even with the breaks my pup needs. My puppy is visibly relieved and happy afterwards (photos are all from post bath walk home) .Very easy to get to, super clean place and they are on top of the time frame they give you. 2336 W North Ave, ChicagoAfter going to another groomer the last 6 years, I made the switch over to Urban Canine in my neighborhood and I was very pleased! I was able to schedule a grooming appointment for my labradoodle within the week. They had great service and staff and it was very clean in there as well. Unlike where I had gone previously, urban canine was very timely (I was told 2-3 hours and it took just over 2 hours) and that was much appreciated. Pet Care
North Center Animal Hospital, A Thrive Pet Healthcare Partner
1808 W Addison St, ChicagoOur vet is closed on Wednesdays and we had an emergency with our puppy of course on a Wednesday. I called North Center in a panic to see if they would help us out. Dawn was so incredibly kind. She let me have my panic attack (and cry on the phone with her), she empathized with the situation, and then she got us right in. The entire experience, from start to finish, was excellent. I'm seriously considering switching vets to them for this reason.

Wicker Park Veterinary Clinic
1166 N Milwaukee Ave, ChicagoI've only gone to Wicker Park Veterinary for a few months and they've already done so much for me. My rescue Walter is usually petrified of the vet, but has now tried to drag me over to the vet just to say hello. They were patient when he was really agitated getting his blood drawn and worked with me to figure out the right medication to have calm visits. Most recently, I woke up realizing I'd left his anxiety meds at mother's house in Indiana. I called the vet and had replacement meds in hand within an hour, and was still able to make my flight that morning.Walter and I appreciate them so much!

Healing Tails Chicago Pet Rehabilitation and Acupuncture
1921 S Archer Ave, ChicagoLove this clinic! Even before my frenchie began her 6-week sessions the staff were very helpful, informative and friendly. Once the PT began I noticed right away how helpful and calming the vet/techs were with my pup to help put her at ease and within a couple sessions she warmed right up and was even excited to put the work in! My dog showed improvements in strengthening her hips/glutes within a couple weeks and by the end of the 6 weeks there was a vast difference in her posture/stance. I would highly recommend this clinic to anyone needing to give their fur babes some extra strengthening/conditioning and pain control!

Back To Basics Dog Training
3232 N Elston Ave, ChicagoWenz is absolutely amazing! We are so thankful we did the behavioral modification training for our Golden Retriever pup that was going through her teenage phase. I highly recommend working with Wenz, who has a great understanding of how to train dogs at all ages with a loving, caring and gentle attitude. She has a lot of great tricks for barking and leash pulling. She helped us come up with alternatives whenever our pup was being stubborn or biting the leash in public places. As the dog parents, we also learned so much and we developed a stronger relationship with our pup. The best part was learning how to properly leash walk our puppy as well as how she should greet visitors. It’s so easy to walk our pup now around the neighborhood and she’s a lot calmer when we have friends over. We would definitely do it all over again.

Canine Crews
1616 N Washtenaw Ave, ChicagoI recently boarded my cat at Canine Crews for a two week vacation, much longer than I’d ever left her. Drop off was super easy, and I was happy to see that her kitty condo was much larger than I’d expected, and that she was close to the window so she could watch passers by, one of her favorite pastimes. Pick up was super smooth as well, and she’d obviously been well cared for.Typically I hire a sitter to check in on her once a day, and when I get back she’s always incredibly anxious and clingy, no doubt because she’s been mostly alone for several days. When I picked her up from Canine Crees she was happy and relaxed, a testament to how comfortable she’d been during her stay. I’ll definitely book them again!

Happy Tails & Trails
1240 W Carroll Ave, ChicagoI’m so happy I found Angie and Happy Tails. I was having so much anxiety and fear at the thought of leaving my 11 week old puppy in someone else’s care for the day, but calling Angie made me feel so much more comfortable and confident. A lot of daycares offer puppy care, but it can be isolating for your pup. However, Angie’s puppy play care program gives puppies the opportunity to play during the day with dogs their age, socialize with adult dogs when appropriate to learn manners, and get plenty of naps in the crate throughout the day. I feel that the level of attention my pup got was much better than what other daycares were offering which was peace of mind for me. My dog is 5 months now and she LOVES going to Happy Tails!

They are 100% volunteer run so they don't have an actual shelter facility, just their homes and their hearts. They genuinely enjoy hearing his updates and even seeing him at events over the years! If you have other pets in the home, of course they should be spayed/neutered to adopt another. That's a known fact of most reputable rescue organizations. :)

Chicago Canine Rescue
5272 N Elston Ave, ChicagoWonderful staff..unfortunately underfunded because the building, both inside and out, needs some love! They’re fantastic at pairing the perfect dogs to their new owners and we love their temporary foster system. They are a godsend to the community and to all of the animals :)

Precious Pets Almost Home
3757 N Lincoln Ave, ChicagoI can't believe I'm just posting a review for this amazing adoption group. We adopted our Leon (was Peaches) about five years ago from PPAH. I can't quite remember who helped us but everyone was great! I really appreciate that they take the time to get to know you and know the adoption is right. I can't imagine our lives without our sweet princess.

The Catcade - Cat Cafe & Rescue
624 W Belmont Ave, ChicagoIt was easy to make reservations and the onboarding process was super easy (they just go over the rules before you enter the cat room)You get one free non-alcoholic drink upon arrival and about an hour to play with the cats. There are MANY cats of all ages. You can walk around and play with them, but most people picked a spot and waited for cats to come to them.I fell in love with a chubby orange cat named Jack Tripper

Doggy Paddle Aquatic Center For Dogs
1430 W Willow St, ChicagoWe’ve been taking our pup here for a couple of years now and she absolutely loves it! The staff are incredibly accommodating and sensitive to the unique needs of each dog, which we are very grateful for as the type of swims our pup enjoys has changed over time (more playful vs calm).

LAST KISS At Home Pet Euthanasia And Cremation Services
3674 N Elston Ave, ChicagoMade dreaded calls for my 17yr old dog my 5th pet since 2017 that I have had to help cross over the rainbow bridge. It never gets easier talking about ending the suffering of senior animals even when it's very evident it's more humane than to let them continue to exist. My animals had been my children until I welcome my first of now 3 human babies in 2016. The individual who answered my call was calm quiet and patient as I explained the reason for my call and questions. They kindly answered my questions and appologized to me for my sadness. I have mad arrangements for them to come out this week to help my 5 of 6 furr babies to end his suffering while my 19y old cat is not far behind from his time on this earth coming to an end. And if my in person interaction goes as well as over the phone I will again be calling this place when it is time to put my last furr baby down.
