I love this school! I have been attending here for the past 9 years and have nothing bad to say! It is a Montessori curriculum until 5th grade and is international baccalaureate 5-8 grade. All the teachers and staff seem to genuinely care about all of their students. The school lunch isn't good but in CPS school what can you expect. Many of my peers attend private school and have or are learning the same thing that I'm learning in the grade behind them (so it appears we are learning just as much as kids at PS). PreK-K, 1-3, and 4-5 are in the same class. I have found this very helpful, if you are in 1st grade and are advanced you can work on more advanced work while still staying in the same class. Yes, there is some bullying but, as is at every school, unfortunately. The playground is very large and accommodating to everyone, we have a very nice, big field and baseball diamond/ "soccer field". The bee hive is so interesting and fun to learn about, our chickens are always laying new, fresh, and tasty eggs, and we even have a large garden consisting of cucumbers, onions, lettuce, tomatoes, basil, kale and more! We have an amazing sports program, our coaches are very knowledgeable, we have won battle of the books for the past 3 years out of the entire city. Our cross country team is amazing and has great training programs and practices. In fall our school has sports programs including, football, cross country, soccer, and volleyball. Our winter season consists of basketball, cheerleading, and wrestling. Our spring sports program includes, track and field and soccer.

I went to Oscar Mayer in the 60s. I had the best of both worlds. We moved to Addison in 67 for a couple yrs. I couldnt wait to get back at Oscar Mayer. In 6th grad we moved to Elkhart IN. I was at oscar Mayer before DePaul was built.

All those comments about a racist, bully principal are untrue. Our principal is very just and African - American. Also when the teachers put there hand on a student, it is only a pat on the back. The gym teacher is OUTSTANDING, as well as the drama, and music teacher. (The art teacher was fired due to CPS budget cuts.) The school also takes bullying very seriously. As a student I agree they are strict about talking in hallways etc., but for the best.

I love the school. What an awesome opportunity for my son to learn in a Montessori environment! He is thriving. I also love the community of parents who support each other and get super involved to make sure the school maintains its wonderful programming despite CPS cuts. Bravo to the huge team that make this school such a success.

The school is great but some of the staff they have is bad. But when it comes down to confidential I say poor the principal told my personal business to a cop which should of never happen yes he's a cop but didn't give her the right to say anything my kids are being questioned every chance they get Dcfs always being called on me every year for stupid stuff the school is great but some of the staff there is ok!! And the school is racist my kids even feel that the school is racist !!!

They are rude and they put their hands on children. And they yell at you for any little thing. I wouldn't recommend this awful school.
